  1. Q: So what did your wife give you for your birthday? A: Oh, just hush and take your colostomy like a man! Doc
  2. Q: You gave me the plague! WHY? A: That's not a moon! That's a SPACE STATION! Doc
  3. Q: Man this move is really disorganized. What have you got in that box? A: Well, Mr. Collins, according to your test results, you've either got about two minutes to live, or you're pregnant with a waterbuffalo. Doc
  4. Q: Are you sure I can't offer you any more of this Chernobyl vodka? A: My hovercraft is full of eels. Doc
  5. Q: I'M responsible for you being dizzy? What did I do? A: It was excrutiatingly painful, but well worth the cost of admition. Doc
  6. Q: Yes, Defender, you are to be put to death. But I am not completely without compassion. You may choose your executioner. Which will it be? Lady Venom? Lady Dagger? Lady Catsuit? Or Lady Corpulence? A: Actually, I'd love to, but I've just got to nip out for a quick lobotomy. Doc
  7. You're entitled to your opinion, but I think you're missing something about the Mechanon mindset. You said Now look at what that implies. As long as Mechanon's intelligence continues, the bodies are expendable. How much effort are you going to put into protecting an expendable resource. Especially one that is easily replacable. Most especially when you've got more important things to do, like ridding the planet of this nasty biological infection it's suffering from. I don't think that Mechanon would bother with such complex safeguards to his demolition charges until someone else triggers one and interferes with the achievement of one of his objectives. Once that happens, Mechanon will re-design the system, and then seek to eliminate the bozo who found the weakness in the first place. If Mechanon could really think of EVERY possible attack in advance, he would have won a long time ago. No matter how smart he is, there's always something he missed. Sometimes it will be something simple. Not often, but sometimes. Doc
  8. Um. It hasn't been done before because no one EVERY tries the simple plans. They are discounted as being "too obvious" and brushed off as having been done before or being impossible. This is ESPECIALLY true in a game where emphais is put on how smart the villians are and how hard the heros have to work to solve their puzzles. In this kind of environment, you can create an adventure where all the answers are the obvious simple answers and it will vex the players to no end! As far as Mental link, with IPE goes, how hard is it for a character to buy Detect Invisible, Only works with Mental Awareness and HRRH? As long as you've got points to spend, any defense can be overcome. Doc
  9. Q: So Saphire likes to keep trophies of her amorous conquests, does she? Like what? A. Easy, I used the "turbo" setting on the electric beater. Doc
  10. Q: So, let me get this straight, you're going to hire a small, off duty, Czecoslovakian meter maid, to ram me with her scooter and then kick me accross the upper lip and beat me with her ticket book until I'm lying in a pool of my own blood and mewling like a kitten? A: Yes, it's just that cunning! Doc
  11. Q: So Robin Hood noticed his heart had been carved out? A: a handful of ball bearings, some clean sheets, two quarts of oil, and an enraged ocelot. Doc
  12. Q: Would you take a look and see what's in that storage tank? A: Do not despair, my Lord! I have a cunning plan! Doc
  13. The Foxbat Network. No, really. When Foxbat was getting ready to start up The Foxbat Channel featuring The Foxbat Show, wherein all his exploits would be chronicled for the edification and entertainment of the viewing public, he insisted that all the combats for the show should be real. And since Ninjas are cool, Foxbat just had to have a show, or seven, where he could show his prowess by defeating a bunch of Ninjas. So, the production company took a hefty budget and went off to hire authentic Ninjas. Unfortunately, one of the financial backers finally took a look at the prospectus he had been given, narrowly avoided a 3rd heart attack, and pulled his money. This put the financial status of the entire Foxbat Network in jeapordy, and one by one, the departments that weren't showing a profit were all closed. So the only remaining division was the segment of the production company that had the exclusive contract to this group of Ninjas. A clever, and unscrupulous, hey, it's show biz folks, manager realized the potential opportunity in hiring out these assassins for various other causes. Since he started doing this, his division has been solidly in the black. Foxbat knows nothing of this. He was on a remote location shoot at the time the company went belly up. When last seen, he was trying to escape from his own location crew, who still haven't been paid. Doc
  14. Shouldn't the headline read something on the order of "Supreme court upholds Jesus' Conviction" There may be injustice elsewhere in the world, but only in America can a man be convicted of committing an act which is not a crime. Doc
  15. Ok, I'll admit it's been a while since I've seen Mystery Men, but I don't remember ANY of these items. Where did they appear? Doc
  16. Splunge! Definately Splunge! ::ahem:: Um, how about Toxic Waste? Then you could have team-mates call out to him, "Waste those guys!" His quote could be "Time to get Wasted!" Or the Livin' Sludge? Sludge is a simple name for the stuff, and if he coats himself with it as armor, he would indeed look like a living mass of Sludge. Or he could call himself Splatterman and refer to the goo as "the Splat". Phlegm Boy just doesn't work for me... There have got to be heavy metal band names that are just begging to be used as this kid's super hero name... Doc
  17. Depends on how you think about it. If you program for Windows, you would be lucky to get 3% market recognition of that 97% marketshare you're desiring. If you program for the Mac, it's fairly easy to get 75% market recognition of that 3% marketshare. So ask yourself, how hard do you want to work for your level of "success"? Of course, you still need to deliver a good product anyway... Doc
  18. Re: Breaking Personality Stereotypes for the Archetypes Nah! not a pacifist! A brick who is a scrawny little guy who really doesn't know his own strength. He doesn't so much punch opponents as slap-fights (and sends them flying). Quote would be something on the order of "Stop!" :: ::smash:: "Who did that?" EP with a case of terminal boredom. "Oh, Ghod! Not another pointless battle. Can I just fry this one and sit the rest of this out?" How about the gageteer who doesn't have a clue what he's doing? He's just playing with bits and pieces, and then Wow! something works! Stolen from another poster's Brick suggestion: The Flaming Homosexual Martial Artist. More than enough said! That would be the character called Freedom!, who fights against Government interference in the lives of it's citizens, and strives to protect those citizens, and their freedoms. Skateboard Kid Weaponmaster. He hasn't studied his whole life. He has no dedication. He just does it because it's fun. Just natural talent and nothing better to do on a saturday afternoon. Doc
  19. I work as a computer specialist doing database/etl/customized reporting (I'm not permitted to call myself a programmer for political reasons). I work in the Washington, D.C. area for the Federal Government. It would seem that one of us works in an environment that is less condusive to obeying hiring practices and guidelines. Not sure which one, though. Doc
  20. Actually, it looks like a home-grown version of the Borg, without the hardware. Doc
  21. Well, in this particular case the justification is that the character is a MACHINE and can only deploy and power one set of specially sensory apparatus at a time. Looking at this one case, I find it highly appropriate. Or would you prefer a Multipower for each Sense Group? So you have Sight Tricks, and Hearing Tricks, etc? As for the whole bit about not costing END.... I've always felt that was a strawman arguement. With an EC, it makes sense to limit the no END powers, but in a MP, especially with Ultra powers, it doesn't matter as much. Doc
  22. You benefit from discrimination? Will wonders never cease! As a white male, society has institutionalized discrimination against me. If I apply for a job, even if I am the most qualified applicant, the job will go to someone who is a "minority" (Not speaking generalities here, it really happened). Since I am white, slavery is my personal fault. Since I am male, everyone assumes I am privileged. The truth is that I have to work harder, and am held to a higher standard than my co-workers. Even my right to complain about discrimination has been removed, since management will never find in my favor for fear of being labeled as "prejudiced". Doc
  23. Bad Player! Bad! Bad! Bad! It's a ROLEPLAYING GAME! Just because you have OOC knowledge doesn't mean you can use it. I'm usually very good about keeping character knowledge and OOC knowledge separate. I've even walked my characters into ambushes I've seen a mile away because MY character didn't have the one piece of info that would have made the trap obvious. Of course, usually one of the other characters has that piece of info but isn't mentioning it. We've actually had games stall because the GM was expecting my character to do something and the GM forgot that action was based on OOC knowledge. Sometimes it seems like I'm constantly asking the GM "what do I know?" because either I'm not sure my character is aware of some piece of knowledge, or because I think the character should know, but the GM never informed me. To punish that character, I suggest making a string of villians w/ the names of popular heros. Have more fun! Create a band of villians with the same names as the PC's! Copyright Wars! Doc
  24. Ragdoll would be a good name for a stretchy guy. No bones... And Desolid or Teleport for oozing out of those grabs and entangles. Maybe a "Must not be completely surrounded" limitation. Doc
  25. So the idea of a Movement Multipower is definately Dairy Product? After all, when are you going to Run, Fly, Swim, Teleport, and Tunnel at the same time? I don't find the Sense Multipower cheesy at all. At least, not for a Robot. However... I would be very tempted to buy disads for blind, deaf, and no sense of touch. And then buy these normal senses under the multipower. Especially if it's a "sensory cluster" that can be targeted and damaged. Doc
