  1. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Hey Storn nice pic. The skin tone is great, very natural. I do have one criticism though, Her left arm looks... off. It seems very bulky, almost like it's a man's arm. The scenery is very cool. Great looking ship.
  2. Re: PBEM - RDU: The Mavericks - Example & Discussion More, More. I think this is a fight that actually worked a lot better in E-mail. The multiple locations and craziness going on can be sorted out a little in E-mail. Plus there are moments for character stuff, amidst the choas. Good stuff.
  3. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread.
  4. Re: PBEM - RDU: The Mavericks - Example & Discussion Wow. Never has such a cool HtH fight happened so quickly. As a fan of the close in fights, I have to commend this for excellent imagery. Well done Matt and Neil.
  5. Re: Secret Worlds: Reboot write-ups WOOT!! -Joe
  6. Re: PBEM - RDU: The Mavericks - Example & Discussion WOW you can re-post E-mail stuff fast. I guess it's a lot of cut and paste. Anyway, .... SWEET! Glad to see this thread up and running. Keep it coming. Heh, if you do start another PBEM I shudder to think of the amount of players beating down your door to play PC's. -Joe
  7. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. I usually don't speak up in the chorus of Storn praise, I used to tell him in person, now it's a bit of a drive. I have to admit I like this pic. The stance and "feel" is very cool. A lot of character in the pic. I see a fast fencer very skilled, leaping swashbuckling. Overall very nice. The mask is cool too. Also Kudos to "J" for the creation of him. My apologies for not knowing your full name to give credit where credit is due.
  8. Re: Secret Worlds: Reboot write-ups Been a while since I read this thread. Must have missed the subsciption E-mail. Anyway. Nice work Neil. It's amazing to me that you remember the little things, character wise, in a session. Especially considering the time frame. Have fun writing up the next session. Meet 'n' greets with uber-paranoid NPC's are always fun. As long as my spaghetti line get's in there I'll be happy. Man I was in a wierd mood that night. Keep up the good work. All you loyal readers need to post to spur Neil on. It's not like he gets paid for this. Although, sometimes I know he posts at work
  9. Re: Secret Worlds: Reboot write-ups Not just you. Hmmm, did they change the board formatting somehow?
  10. Re: Secret Worlds: Reboot write-ups Avid Secret Worlds readers will remember that Charlie Petroni was mentioned once before in Book 1. How good is your SW-fu? -J
  11. Re: Secret Worlds: Reboot write-ups SAH-WEET!!! Awesome write-up Neil. I know the part of the fight that you think you did wrong, but it's cool. Your version works better then, the GM forgetting I had a second action. Thanks for describing the stragety change of dodge, dodge, dodge, block = pain. Awesome. This is one of my more favorite posts. (granted it's about me, but hey) -J
  12. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Quick question, is this the first time you have blended a photograph into the finished product? I know you have used pics as inspiration before. I can't imagine trying to actually draw a compound bow. Anyway looks awesome. Just curious if this is an artistic leap/step for you. -Grey
  13. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From Secret Worlds: (Two characters meeting and talking in the rain in Cambodia) Ryu: Did you bring me any dry clothes? Damien: Yeah , I got a ton of 9mm dry socks.
  14. Re: Halo Hero SirViss: nice linkage. That does seem about the level I was thinking. I don't know how cumbersome all that book-keeping would be though. Need to play it out and see. These fields will be in-play pretty regularly, so something fast-ish and loose-ish would be preferred. Super Squrriel's idea I like, the only caveat would be something involveing the force it is hit. By that model: constant thrown rocks will drop a field faster then sparatic gun fire. Though, then you get into more book-keeping... hmm. What about using the DC of the attack? Shield drops 1/1 per DC of the attack that hit it. recovers 2/2 on any phase not hit. Again the numbers could be played with. Using the DC would make the drop pretty constant within a given battle, without having to wait for the damage to be rolled. Being gamers, I can see using a die to keep track of the up and down defenses. Similar to a life total in Magic. Thank you all for posting. Any other thoughts? Or comments? I can forsee some wonderful dynamic fights occuring if I get this right, hopefully it works out.
  15. Well more specifically trying to simulate the recovering Force Field effect. A piece of equipment that generates a force field. This force field gets weakened after each hit fairly quickly, but can be recharged by staying out of the line of fire for a little bit. I am thinking Abalative, maybe 'Resets with a recovery, in a phase you haven't taken a hit" I have never built Hero equipment before. If there a better way to build this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  16. Re: 25-7-11 24-7-14-14-3 5-3-26-8 20-11-23-14-11-1-8 well it's not 1=A etc. I got nuthin' else
  17. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... I'm telling.....
  18. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Wow, I have been elevated to a 'GM' in the group. You've run more then me Storn. Consider me 'chomping at the bit' to steal those images. More power to you Mr. Kirby.
  19. Re: Duke (art and characters) Wow that was... specific. 6 to 8 hours for coloring? Thanks for the breakdown.
  20. Re: Duke (art and characters) Good stuff Duke. Always nice to see art here at the boards. The four armed chick looks especially cool to me. Are you drawing digitally or free hand then scanning. What's the process here?
  21. Re: Alternate History I'm basing a new DC/Star hero game on Alternate Earths. Generally based on a main uber tech Earth. This earth has acheived AE travel and exists as a main trade nexus. Subsequently, the main earth is very rich and corrupt. With a huge military. My ideas for different AEs just stems from what I want the earth to be for the session. What if Hitler won? What if the dinosaurs never left? If you go with the Chaos theory you can justify any history. "Hmm I want a world where the romans and the nazi's co exist in harmony." well you can do that. However I agree, that there is not much HERO stuff out there, that I know of, for alternate earths/histories
  22. I was wondering how the various homebrew Star Hero games out there explain artificial atmosphere. I am debating between a super-tech dome or terra forming the planet ala Firefly. It will be for a huge military installation on Pluto's Moon, and a hudson city clone on the surface of Pluto. Dome seems more sci-fi but I can see it being a huge weakspot for the installation. Punch one hole and there goes everything. Any other ideas, or comments?
  23. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Well, I can't get into stats just yet. I don't have many cards in my hand to play, so I wish to keep them face down for now. Too many players lurk this this thread. Basically a sniper and a martial artist, if you couldn't tell. Alpha and Omega. (if you can't read Greek characters, Omega is the guy) They are two members of my homebrew evil organization, for my upcoming Red Stars campaign. My version of VIPER. They are both humans with some cybernetic enhancement, and commonly work as a team. The begining and the end. A common tactic is for Alpha to create a comotion and start a large brawl. During said chaos, Omega takes out the target from a safe distance, and Alpha retreats in a cloud of smoke. The PC's will be seeing the first signs of the organizaion, so not too much is known by players at this time. The setting is an entire society based on Alternate Earth travel and trade. The main earth, Locus, has served as a base of travel and trade for many years. They orignally developed the technology for AE travel and have capitalized on it immensely. With nigh un-ending resources they have colonized most of the solar system, and become a nexus of wealth and technology. There's more to it but you asked about the characters. I am trying to flesh-out the whole organization for maybe a DH article or something. If you want more info just PM me, I'm happy to talk about it, just don't want to hijack Storn's famed thread. Great work Storn. Many more will be coming your way over time.
