  1. Godzilla Minus One. This movie is entirely in Japanese, with subtitles. It's also really good--Skull Island good. As most movies do, it fails a bit when it comes to the physics. But that's not the point of the movie at all.
  2. Three days! And it'll hurt the whole time you're dying!
  3. Ha! Suck it India! We're number one! USA! USA!
  4. I'm using uBlock Origin and AdblockPlus on Firefox, on Mac, and the only youtube ads I ever see are the ones that are actually part of the video. Ymmv.
  5. The largest male specimen of the world’s most venomous spider has been found in Australia Can you imagine how much that would hurt? Meaning the spider failed its stealth roll. Speaking of stealth rolls. I'm not sure I feel better about the 1cm version at all. Greeeeeat. Two funnel-web spider bites, though. Through your fingernail.
  6. I wish. Does anyone have a page number for this? I'll be your best friend. I had started to write up a new cost structure for fantasy-specific Hero games, but it's been so long I can't remember what I settled on. I do remember that I wanted a consistent 2pts/characteristic, so STR and INT would have cost 2 and I'd have broken DEX out into two stats, one for offense and one for defense, each of which also cost 2. Flight and Teleport cost 5/inch. There might have been some other power changes. Obviously I never actually tried a campaign with any of this.
  7. This. As a (primarily) Fantasy Hero player, it is glaringly obvious that STR and Flight (for instance) are more valuable in-game and should be costed accordingly. In 1st ed. FH, Flight was called "Levitation" and was automatically 1/2 DCV, so I assume Peterson at least partially agreed. It might be easier to tweak costs in 6th ed now that figureds aren't figured...
  8. At least it saves you from having to watch the Raiders.
  9. Well, I thought it was funny. Saw AQ2 this afternoon. It started off pretty clumsily but got significantly better by about the halfway point. It had a bit too much action-for-its-own-sake, but the plentiful internal conflicts made up for that. Definitely worth the matinee price. Oh, and I really liked the vehicle designs in this one. I want one of those!
  10. I think there were supposedly 10,000 Persian Immortals, not just 600. But I was never able to get them all together at once for a formal count.
  11. The surest guarantee that the climate crisis is for real is insurance rates. Or just a total lack of available insurance, such as in Florida.
  12. It's really annoying that they screengrabbed the mouse pointer. Also, I didn't realize Olive Oyl had such... hands.
  13. Cruel to force them to use a fictional temperature scale like ºC.
  14. I managed to miss those, but it's not like the system in LBB Traveller was stellar. Ship combat was okay, but personal combat was extraordinarily lethal. The strength of Traveller is the setting, in all its humanocentric dieselpunk glory.
  15. Whereas using Kelvin, you're dead at 32 degrees and at 212 you're also dead. For me the issue is the "X below" terminology. X below what? Zero, or freezing? No one ever specifies the temperature scale when they say that.
  16. After his ejection from TSR, Gygax developed a new game and took it to GDW. It was originally called Dangerous Dimensions, but was changed to DJ after TSR threatened to sue. Then TSR sued anyway claiming DJ was a derivative work of D&D. The lawsuit was utterly baseless but GDW didn't have the resources to fight TSR (They Sue Regularly) and was forced to hand over all printed DJ material, which I assume was then sent to a landfill. (It never ceases to amaze me how much our hobby is dominated by copyright law, lawyers, and corporate suits who hold their customers in open contempt.) Oddly enough, DJ shared little with D&D other than being a TTRPG. As I understand it, DJ was an attempt at a universal system that used only d6s and d10s and had point buy character creation.
  17. Thanks, although I had nothing to do with my state's result. My own tastes are more... unconventional.
