  1. Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... Still in the process of reading this one... http://www.lfgcomic.com/page/1
  2. Re: The cranky thread FH is the redheaded stepchild of Hero. It's the best system for the genre, but in 4th ed. it got hamstrung by the 'universal system' fad that screwed up the game balance and added 'embellishments' like spell colleges. And supportwise, FH was virtually ignored compared to Champions. DOJ has improved on this issue greatly but there is always room for improvement.
  3. Re: Mars has water! Like I said, large-scale terraforming of Mars would take not just generations, but many millennia. However, your initial statement was that orbital colonies would be more sustainable/less expensive, which is no longer the case now that large quantities of water have been found on Mars.
  4. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Because there is a difference between Pacific Daylight Time and Pacific Standard Time. When I become emperor, Daylight Savings Time will be banned, and anyone who speaks in its defense will be put up against the wall and shot.
  5. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER "Iceberg, right ahead."
  6. Re: The cranky thread Are those any good? I've only eaten dry dog food. Which is very bland.
  7. Re: Musings on Random Musings Last did that on the beach in Kona in December. No light but gas torches, and not many of them, for miles around. Sound of waves gently breaking on the sand. Counted a couple dozen shooting stars before I finally went in.
  8. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER "What are you sending?" "CQD." "Try the new signal, it'll be the last chance you get."
  9. Re: Musings on Random Musings That's what the scented body oils are for.
  10. Re: The cranky thread Over? It's not even lunchtime.
  11. Re: Magic Users r0x0rs!!!11!!!11 In noncombat situations, absolutely.
  12. Re: The cranky thread No one gets to choose their family. That's why we have the NGD. As if it were any less dysfunctional.
  13. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Saw the Dresden Files for the first time last night. At first I was wondering what the heck I was watching. Then it was ooOOoooh So that's what people were talking about! Kinda neat, I like it.

  15. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Somewhere on Earth, a book entitled Tuala Morn slowly oozes my way. Slowly.
  16. Re: Mars has water! Better yet, we could evaporate it all. Water vapor is an extremely effective greenhouse gas. Mars would then suffer runaway global warming and would soon turn steamy and lush--a perfect environment for martian dinosaurs to roam. If only Mars were big enough to actually hold onto its volatiles.
  17. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Who doesn't? Although I rarely have the time. Plus, I suck at it.
  18. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread But for one.
  19. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Oh, it's always a party in my office. [/sarcasm]
  20. Re: The cranky thread My experience with nonprofits is that they have incredibly stringent bookkeeping requirements to keep that status. You could always call in an IRS air strike as a parting gift when you leave.
  21. Re: The cranky thread I think that on a purely professional basis, short and curvy beats sycophantic yes-men any day.
  22. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread The boss is out of town.
  23. Re: The cranky thread I guess so, but when you need to be doing all these contortions just to maintain communications with your mainframe--are they really saving money?
