  1. Re: ONE power: what do you do with it? I used to want to be a minor superman, then came telekinesis, then teleport. Now in my fourth decade, I want the power to find lost kids/loved ones by touching something of theirs and knowing where their physical body is. I want families to have closure. Sorry to get so serious.
  2. Re: Signature Request *CW #7 SPOILERS* I agree. Cap is one of my two favorite heroes (other is Batman), and they have treated him like a b list villian. Marvel died when Mark Gruenwald died. CAPTAIN AMERICA LIVES!!!
  3. Re: Fourth Versus Fith DC? I've taken both 4th & 5th versions of Hudson City and morphed it together. 5th gave more detail for locations, but 4th had so many teasers to fill out and locate where you wanted. I thought Justice:Not Law was the best Champions sourcebook to be put out for 4th. It had a city with lots of NPCs, Villians and locations, and a history you could play with.
  4. Re: Re-Imaged Hero(ines) 1889 "The Council is entrusting this task to you Victor. After cleaning up the mess you made with your ‘Son’, we feel that you owe us and humanity a debt." The tired looking man peered up to the darkened seats near the ceiling of the courtroom. Shadows hid the faces of the seven men. Only the barest outline of their silhouettes was visible to him. "As I understand it, you want me to continue my research at an elevated pace so as to create a living weapon to combat, um vampires?" "This is not a joke!" The voice thundered down at Victor Frankenstein. "The supposed King of the Vampires has already invaded London and tried to take one its citizens. You will craft a Hunter to rid England and the world of the Nosferatu. You will reclaim your good name in the scientific circles. You will do this because if you do not, you will not see the New Year. The Illuminati have spoken!" 1891 "I do not understand Doctor, what it is I'm supposed to do. As much as you tried to make it different, I can not really fit into normal society." The abnormally large man sitting on a lab table gestured at himself, motioning to the scar pattern on his face and hands. The doctor looked up at his creation. "You must understand that for the most part, you will be operating during the night hours. The Illuminati have provided agents to investigate vampire nests during the day. You will stay in a safe house they are going to provide for your use. Anything you require, they will get you." A hooded man joined Victor and the large man at the lab table. "That is correct. The work done here will help humanity stop a predator from eradicating us from the planet. Now that you are ready, we only need to give you your code name. A test of your abilities will be performed...” A body suddenly crashed through the skylight. It hit the floor and was motionless as glass rained down upon it. Three shapes glided through the hole and landed facing the occupants of the room. "Your guards are useless against the Children of the Night. Your experimentations have come to our Master's knowledge and we have been sent to destroy you and your ridiculous toys!" The vampires hissed, showing their fangs are they moved towards the men. "NO!" The large man pushed Victor and the hooded man behind him and leaped in-between the vampires. His arm lashed out and two of them were thrown into the far wall. The third spun faster than the human’s eyes could register, but the experiment's hand grabbed the vampire by the neck and held him off the ground. At the sound of the remaining vampires rush to attack, the large man's other arm shot out towards them. A silver flash blinded the vampires as the arm slashed in front of their faces. A look of surprise was fixed on both of their faces as their heads fell away from their bodies. The remains turned to dust before they hit the ground. "Outstanding, my boy,” The hooded figure said, picking himself up from the floor “but what about that one?" Looking at the creature he held, the man tensed the arm holding it. Suddenly a silver sword shot out of his wrist and decapitated the vampire. The vampire's body shifted to dust. The man flicked the swords protruding from his arms to clean them, and then both slid back into his arms. "My God! Victor, that is amazing. He truly carries his weapon hidden in plain sight." "Yes and the blades are iron tempered with silver. As you saw, it can discorporate them just like a wooden stake to the heart." The hooded man took the experiment’s hand into his own. "Thank you for saving me. I believe that this was a baptism for you. And Victor has given me the perfect codename for you. All Illuminati agents will know you as Blade." Blade nodded. "And soon, so will the vampires, if only as they die."
  5. Re: Re-Imaged Hero(ines) Dr. Stan Grady was at the top of his game. His wife was a trophy, his kids overachievers, even his dog took top honors at shows. He operated on the children of the world to help alleviate their pain, and most he did for charity. Then came the fall. His wife was caught cheating with his boss by the press. His son was caught selling drugs on campus, his daughter sold her self for grades and money. His dog bit the mailman and had to be put down. And his mansion burned down in a suspicious manner. He tried to keep it together, but when the press did a smear campaign against him, the hospital put him on suspension. He wandered through the city, dazed. His whole life was trying to help others. Now he had no direction, no way to give back. As he walked across the bridge, he noticed a young girl standing on the wrong side of the safety rails. Rushing to her, calling out, reaching for her and then as she grabbed his hand, a flash of light and she calmed. She climbed back over and waited for the police. Stan left, not wanting to have the press get another story to spin against him. He made his way into the city and found a young man on a corner. The boy propositioned Stan, claiming he needed the money for drugs to stop his cravings. Stan identified himself as a doctor and told the boy he wanted to take help. He took his hand and again a flash of light. The boy sighed, and realized that he did not have the withdrawl pains anymore, nor the craving for drugs. He ran down the street laughing and yelling about the miracle. Stan awoke in a hotel room the next morning. He ordered room service and was reading the paper when an article caught his eye. "MYSTERIOUS DOCTOR SAVES TWO" ...the young woman claimed that she had given up hope and was going to jump when the man took her hand and everything made sense to her... ...street youth said "He changed my fate for the better."... Stan had found his outlet for helping.
  6. Re: Pyramid in the Sky? Pyramid in the Sky was about a group of alien slaves coming to Earth and seeking sanctuary if I remember right. It had a villian group based on movie making (director, best boy, stuntman, gaffer, etc.) and had a villian leader of a camp for meta wannabees. A totally convoluted adventure and as far as I was concerned, a waste of money. Dystopia took the Geodistics from Enemies (Champions first edition) and updated to semi fourth edition. Worth the money due to the backstory used to update the characters. Hope this helps.
  7. Re: What Marvel/DC storyline have you ripped off...err been inspired by? Way back I ripped Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu and melded it to Batman. But then added the War of the Gods from DC and Avatar from Forgotten Realms. Seems that every millenium (did not rip that one) the pantheons of gods battle for supremicy. The egyption gods were winning, but the good aligned wanted to let things lie in the modern world. Set and some of the more evil dieties decided to imbue powers to motals and take over Earth. Horus and Bast fought powers with powers and had their own agents. Bast's avatar was a Catwoman like character who was able to bring in to her "Pride" all feline related powered metas. Horus gave powers to a minor super to save him when he was attacked by Set's avatar King Cobra. Hawknight fought to keep Set from gaining power, having an affair with Bast, gaining a sidekick named Sparrow and giving his life to end the God's War and keeping reality status quo for the next millenium. Horus offered his enhancements to Sparrow as a reward, but the sidekick knowing that power could corrupt, refused and using his own skills and equiptment took over as Sparrowhawk.
  8. Re: Dark Champions: The Animated Series It would help.
  9. Re: Uberworld - Character and Art Dude Loved the Corporate Hero! Great site. Love that the world "Down Under" is represented and showing the types of characters from that region. It seems that the rpg industry has not focused on one of the largest areas of untapped ideas and locations. Keep up the great work. Hawknight
  10. Re: Robotics in the Marvel Universe How about Fabian from the Avengers. He was support for the Avengers, as a kid built miny spider slayers, and after Onslaught, used old Sentinels to build his own Avenger Mechas to protect New York that gave the Avengers a run for their money.
  11. Re: Game Maps and Counters Exchange Try http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Metro/2967 for the originals of the arcade and resturant. BTW more coming since my intrest has been lit. Thanks for the praise.
  12. Re: Game Maps and Counters Exchange And behind door number 3 (Please don't sue me Monty Haul if your still alive!) we have the neighborhood laundromat. I was sitting in one of these on a trip late one night and penciled it. Next game, the local drug gang was using it to sell and launder (lol) their drugs. Played right, the floor will get slippery from busted pipes and detergent. Enjoy and let me know if if these are a help. Some of the others in pencil form are a jewelry store, bookstore (and occult bookstore), small art gallery, gunstore, martial arts dojo, and vacant lot.
  13. Re: Game Maps and Counters Exchange The next one I have is an Italian resturant. I could be switched to almost any kind of food, but I was inspired by the back story of "Papa" Manetti from "Normals" in fouth edition. This resturant was the scene of at least 6 different Mafia wars in 6 different campaigns. "When your here, you're always Family" (Please don't sue me Olive Garden!)
  14. Re: Game Maps and Counters Exchange A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away (Please don't sue me George!) I had a geocities (Please don't sue me Yahoo!) site called "Hudson City Map Works". (Still shows up if you Google it) It was my way to get some modern day maps out. Sadly it was prehistoric looking and I ran out of time and effort to do more than 2 maps. Happily I have redone both maps and added a third to the list. I'm not going to put it on the geocities site but post them here. I am also toying with a few more that are in pencil form now and need to be digitized. I have copied these maps out, taken them to a copy store and blown them up to 400x for paper heroes/figures and works great. Thanks to all of you for this thread. I like to contribute and will start with a video game arcade. It can be placed on any street next to most buildings or in a strip mall. Take out a wall and add to a pizza place for a Chucky Cheese's (Please don't sue me Chucky!).
  15. Re: Superheroic core stories If you use a core story, you have to be ready to only deal with that background (IE fed investigators of alien abductions, mercenary vigilantes protecting a section of the city for money, mutant angst and anti-mutant sentiments). I've found when starting a group, especially a newbie group, to not put any core story in and see where the adventure arc takes us. After 5 or 6 different adventures, I like to use player questionaires with "Are you happy with the current adventure?" and "What sort of adventures would you like to play in/be challenged by?" Sort of hokey and straight forward (OH MY GOD! HE'S USING LOGIC JIM! STUN HIM!) but I get great feedback, am able to refine the background using the played adventures and plan surprises for the players that they want to participate in.
  16. Re: Theme Super Hero Teams RED KNIGHT-You're welcome to it. I'll dig around and see if I can find the floppys (GASP!!) with the character background and pictures. Remember- all this was from 4E and needs to be updated.
  17. Re: Theme Super Hero Teams DC comics did this in The Outsiders (original) back in the late 80's early 90's.
  18. Re: Theme Super Hero Teams In 4E, I ran a game based on the Punchinello adventure in "Heroic Adventures 2. He was going to kidnap a child star at a mall appearance and was foiled by Playtime (Kingdom of Heroes). Because Punchinello used toy based gadjets, I used any published (with changes regarding sex) characters with a "toy" theme and made them is underlings. Punchinello (Picture from Enemies International, write up from Heroic Adventures 2) Due to his domineering towards women psych, all the toys must be female so he can boss them. Frizbee (twin sister of Enemies 1 villian who was killed) Yo-yo (crazy technician who stole original Yo-yo's armor- from "Heroic Adventures 1") Skate Kate (direct from C.L.O.W.N.) Marbles (dragged into this by Skate Kate) Hopscotch (used the picture for Flip in Enemies for Hire minus the card/acrobatic martial artist) Marionette (converted from Villians & Vigilantes- Punchinello's second in command) There were a few others and I can't find the list I had. This game was what would be called a "Dark Champions Animated" adventure now. The PCs had to depend on one character's sidekick to fill them in on the victim. Loads of individual combat in different parts of the mall with each PC pitted against a toy and Playtime's robot armymen planes, ships and tanks.
  19. Re: Starting A New DC Campaign If you have access to the Dark Champions 5E, it has sections including the background on LIBRA that may help you. Some other "hooks"... 1) Terrorists take over a building and kill some of the hostages. Your PCs could be related to the slain and band together to stop this from happening ever again. 2) In a city of dirty cops, the good cops could band together to stop criminals and bad cops alike to protect and serve. 3) All the PCs could have been saved by a mystery man who is wounded and demands repayment of his saving them by having them band together and take over protecting the city. 4) The individual PCs who are specialists in their fields all recieve a mysterious letter telling them to meet somewhere. When the PCs arrive, a gang war breaks out that they must stop. Their benifactor appears after and funds their team to clean up the crime in the city. Hope this helps.
  20. Re: Poster map - Hudson City Saw in the Hero store on Cafe Press button that there is a section of Hudson City on a poster map with Lemaster Park. I'm trying to piece together a map using the smaller maps in the area descriptions of HCTUA, but the sizes are different and each little map has the compass rose and title on it. A work in progress.
