I would have to build in 4e-5e, and hand conversions off to someone to do for 6e.

I think there are many in the same boat. If you want to post in 4e or 5e, then that's awesome. I'll add a rule that says, "If you post in 4e or 5e, indicate so, and we'll try to get a conversion to 6e ASAP." I feel like the biggest intuitive jump is between 5e and 6e, but if you can build in 1e you can build in 5e. (my opinion)

UPDATE: Added the new rule/guideline to the wiki!

Humm...can Champions Now be one of these 'editions' of Champions we could convert characters to? If so, we have...

    Champions 1ed.

    Champions 2ed

    Champions 3ed.

    Champions 4ed (bks the BBB).

    Fusion Full. (Champions New Generation).

Fusion Light (DragonBall Z, Usagi Yojimbo rpg).

    Champions 5ed (FrED. REFrED.)

    Champions 6ed.

    Champions Now!

That is nine separate editions. We can probably ignore Fusion and Champions Now, which of course leaves 6 editions.

This is how I see it:

We are building the wiki in 6e. I foresee a lot of 5e conversions--I still use 5e a lot. I see 4e as being big too--I love that book. I could be wrong, but I foresee less 3e and below conversions. (Don't hate me, I played all the versions, and I probably spent the most tabletop time in 3e.)

Champions Now, I'd love to see conversions to that. Fuzion...why not? I think this forum might not have a lot of Fuzion players but I absolutely would not block that.

But I feel that--for the sake of propagating Champions--we have to keep 6e as the main, even though I personally play 5e more.

    Yes. Absolutely! :)

  4. The campaign wiki is coming along slowly. But slow and steady wins the race, I'm told.

I feel like--correct me if I'm wrong--people are waiting for things to happen with the wiki before diving in. Fair enough. But....I have to ask...what are you waiting for? Because: We're it. We're the people making the wiki. If you're waiting for something and you know how to do it, my advice/wish/request is....Just Do It. :)

I also completely understand that the forum is a bit slower in the summer. Totally makes sense. I've literally been outdoors 90% of the time, so I haven't been working on the wiki either. I always envisioned it to take a couple of months to get the foundations set and then for things to pick up October-ish.

So there's the update! Thank you to everyone who has already contributed, and keep goin'!

PS: If you edit the wiki, please use your herogames username. But, by all means, edit the wiki! :)

Do we have a template for character entries yet?

At the site I posted the first character. That could be used as a template. Or...if someone could post one here, I'd be happy to use it!

Remember we are trying for 6e as the main ruleset, with conversions to other editions.

Done with the rewrite of Mister Wicked's stats.

Before I do background and stuff, what do you think so far? Did he add up correctly?

I haven't done the math but I can post him in the wiki, and then he can be edited there is there are things to fix.

I completely disagree with this sort of supervillain build. It sets a VERY bad example for GMs and can easily instantly sour a player's desire to continue with your game. This is for MANY reasons, but I'll focus here just on the first that instantly leapt out at me.

You have here a character that can AND WILL kill player characters with one hit! I've seen GMs have to fudge their game to avoid killing characters with 5d6 killing attacks and here you have one with a 6 1/2d6 killing attack!  The normal attack too of 21d6 is again utterly out of whack. At least it's not area effect mind you, I'll give you that (yes, I've seen at least one GM deploy a massive, obliterate with one shot, area attack before and steadfastly be adamant this was not a problem).  I promptly dropped that game. Players have to be able to trust their GM to participate in their collaborative storytelling adventure. You are NOT "the enemy", you are NOT "trying to kill them". If the players think otherwise, you have a serious problem.

Supervillains should have powerful attack, yes, but not attacks that will one shot obliterate reasonably constructed characters. Their fearsomeness can come from high but not impossibly high defenses combined with damage reduction, along with a breadth of powers, resources and henchmen.

That is perfectly ok. Your entitled to your own opinion. And your free to not put him in the wiki.

Your also free to extremely modify him to suit your own views. Yes he is deadly. But with modifications he can be even less so. Tone down the sword cane. Tone down his savate martial arts. Mod him till he fits in an average superhero universe.

When I created him, I had no idea what an average superhero should be, cause I was never in a 6ed campaign.

Anyone is free to slam him with a campaign hammer to him. Just give me credit as 'original idea'.

Could we include it with a kind of warning label? Maybe Panpiper can write something cautionary to put with the write-up. (Actually, what Panpiper already wrote might be enough if I slap it in the first paragraph of the write-up.)

Actually...maybe the "tone-down" idea is the best option.

Could someone revise the character and post it here?

  8. 7 hours ago, steriaca said:

Actually she is kinda complete, except for hunting for her background and stuff.

Do you think "Hackable" is an appropriate Limited Power?

In the thread posted you said

    Quote

"Limited Power (Hackable, -1/4)", which means a skilled hacker could force Paradox to use less of a stat than normal, or to it's maximum when she dosen't want to. Go figure.

Yeah, I think this is cool. :)

I have to cross post this character, Paradox Timely of the TED. I was trying to find her archenimie Malkronous (Malcronous?), but failed.

So I'll just leave this link here.

It's going to take me a bit to post this because it's not in "final form" and will require me to read the thread and patch it all together. Which is okay...it's just going to take time.

Anyone want to donate their Fabrica de Herois skills to make pics for this entry?

    :)

I did a poll. "Standard superheroic" (400/75) was by far the most popular option.

I would say it would depend on the character. If you're building heroes, sure, standard builds. If you're building a villain, depends on what your intent for the villain is.

    I finally found this.

    Nice! :)

I can put this into the wiki. Anyone want to take a crack at making an image for these characters?

Just saw this thread now.  I've spent the last hour trying to just get that Hero Designer thing to work and have failed utterly.  I am disinclined at this point to continue.  It does not help that I do not enjoy those illustrations one bit.  I expect if I submit characters, I will leave it to others to add art to them.

I also have zero experience editing Wiki, other than correcting typos and misspellings, and that is mostly just finding the text entry. Not sure at this point just how helpful I will be.

No worries! Hey, you can post your characters here on this thread and I will put them into the wiki. It's a learning experience. I've edited Wikipedia a bit and the interface at fandom.com is actually similar to the one here at herogames.com/forums

So....post some stuff here and I'll move it to the wiki! Let's start with 6e write-ups if we can.

PS: The Fabrica de Herois can be downloaded from the official site:

    http://www.fabricadeherois.com.br/#fabricas

We are aiming at using the FH Animated.

  12. Okay, it's a couple days early, but we can get started at the new wiki:

    https://championsrpg.fandom.com/wiki/Championsrpg_Wiki

    RULES

    1. We ask that anyone editing the wiki please sign up at herogames.com/forums and use the same username as you are using at herogames.com (your work will likely be deleted if you don't follow this). People who are already members at herogames.com, please use the same username. Our copyright blurb depends upon the fact that you are using the same username here as there. So there.

    2. Check out the threads at herogames.com/forums regarding the wiki before you go too nuts, just so's you get a feel for what we're doing.

    3. We're using the DC Animated-style HeroMachine for our default character design style. This is a non-commercial use, so we're fine.

    4. The write-ups should be in 6e as the default, but there should be tabs for other conversions, as demonstrated by the Tarrasque entry in the Forgotten Realms wiki (which is hosted at the same site)

    5. Have fun. Don't be afraid to get started. I can't imagine anyone deleting anything anyone else has done....just try to build on what already exists. Whoever gets in there earliest gets to set the direction of it, so be the first and go nuts!

    6. Post on this thread if you have any questions!

ANYONE READING THIS SENTENCE CAN JOIN AND EDIT. IT'S NOT A PRIVATE CLUB, YOU ARE ALL INVITED!

  13. News: Jason has decided that herogames.com cannot host the wiki on-site. I understand this, because there are security risks and headaches involved with adding a wiki component to the forums. But I wanted to ask him first because I didn't want to drive traffic away from this site. I honestly think the off-site wiki will still drive traffic to here, herogames.com, and that is partly my objective. And I/we will direct people back here as much as possible on the other site.

    Vote time:

I set August 1, 2020 as the wiki launch, and that's still easily within our grasp. My question is: which site? Please vote!

    1) fandom.com

    2) worldanvil.com

I personally prefer fandom.com, because I love how they did the Forgotten Realms wiki, which has been my inspiration/model for this project. Please check out the Forgotten Realms wiki to see what I mean. Note how they have links for different versions of characters--we could do that with our 6e/5e/4e etc. conversions.  Link: https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Tarrasque

NOTE: The project is that we are building a complete Champions campaign wiki, including character write-ups, etc.

It is in 6e, but conversions into other editions are not only welcome but also necessary!

Anyone who is reading this can join and edit. THIS IS NOT A PRIVATE CLUB! YOU DON'T NEED PERMISSION! :)

Have you seen world anvil (www.worldanvil.com).  It is a freemium wiki geared to world playing games.  I have been doing some campaign building in it, and I think it would be excellent.  It allows for multiple authors. and has temples for content such as characters and locations.

That seems pretty cool. We're trying to get it set up here on herogames.com first. If that doesn't work out, we will use worldanvil.com or perhaps fandom.com

-Change Dr. Destroyer. A previous thread mentioned making him a female but I would drop the Nazi WWII story and make him/her a time traveling villain from the future who came to conquer the past. Destroyer is big enough in points and resources to already represent a major threat so why not a temporal threat as well.

I've also leaned toward gender-flipping Firewing, as nothing about his origin or modus operandi strikes me as needing him to be male. Having a female top-tier powerhouse supervillain who's honorable, a bit noble, deadly, and NOT built around the concept of being a seductress or some powerful guy's manipulative girlfriend pulling his strings has a lot of appeal to me.

I like these ideas. I think the Dr. D idea is grand, but I think the execution would have to be handled carefully. I'd want to see this female Dr. D have a somewhat normal female upbringing, in a private school perhaps, and not know that she's a female clone until adulthood. She'd have to live a woman's life is what I mean. If she always knew she was a female clone of a man, it just wouldn't feel as authentic.

The Firewing idea is super as well. I'd be tempted to keep Firewing and have this another Malvan (is that the right word?). Maybe have Firewing die and she is sent to the quadrant in his place. I can't remember the origin details for some reason--I think I'm just going from my memory of his ancient Enemies entry.

I’ve always thought of Dr. Destroyer as an amalgam.  He may look and have a write-up like Dr.Doom but he acts and thinks like Ra’s al Ghul.

Yes. And a lot of Champions villains are like that, I think. And it's how I do my homebrew villains. "Gee, it would be cool if a villain had Lex Luthor's personality but Professor X's powers..."

(Wait, did I do that because they're both bald? LOL)

  17. I like the CU. I played in it A LOT.

I'd keep EVERYTHING. I'd keep the history the same. I'd incorporate old storylines that have been overwritten by newer incarnations, and try to unify them all into a coherent timeline. For example, The Guardians existed in the Eighties. VIPER went through all of its incarnations, and now is something that is a bit of all of them. Doctor Destroyer and Professor Muerte did their thing in the Eighties....now it's a new incarnation, perhaps the female clone that was talked about earlier, but maybe Dr. D's brain patterns still exist to advise his clone...something like that.

    IT ALL COUNTS.

The superteam, Champions, that has Seeker in it, they existed, but in the Nineties/early 2000's. Etc. They now have mostly a new roster.

But the emphasis would be on CONTINUITY, not on RE-IMAGINING. My whole philosophy would not be to pick and choose what happened and what didn't, it would be, "How can I work this so all of this happened and it all fits together?"

My personal peccadillo would be to change one thing: all of it happens in real cities, not in fictional cities. That being said, I don't mind the idea that Detroit was renamed Millennium City...I could be persuaded.

PS: If we couldn't get the rights to a certain character, we'd ask if he could at least be mentioned for posterity. Whose heart is so cold as to deny us that? :)
