  1. The live show, Awakening at the Wynn. It was excellent.
  2. He's smart enough to realize who signs the donation checks. https://www.tampabay.com/news/environment/2023/06/14/florida-lawmaker-sponsored-radioactive-roads-bill-mosaic-threw-him-fundraiser/
  3. I'm two episodes into the second season of Is It Cake? on Netflix. Contestants make an illusion cake, celebrity panel tries to determine which one is a decoy and which is cake. Some of the creations are downright amazing, others, not so much. Hulu has a new show called Secret Chef where the contestants work in an isolated kitchen under an alias, and then have their dish scored by the other contestants. I'm two episodes in on this show, and I plan on giving it one more episode to see if I want to watch the rest. I tried to watch the first episode of Marvel's Secret Invasion on Disney+, but I will probably need to re-watch the first half again as I started to fall asleep.
  4. To truly experience it, you'd need access to the back of house. One of our casinos has a long stretch of hallway that's normally in complete darkness. It's technically an emergency exit path from a large multiplex theater, so it's very wide, and the ceiling is at least 30 feet above. Motion sensors will turn each overhead light on while there's motion in its range, and the lights will go off in about a minute after the sensor no longer detects movement. It takes about 10 minutes to clear the hallway, with the lights turning on and off as you go.
  5. Some of them sure have a lot of toes.
  6. Star Trek: Prodigy Season 1: This animated series tells the story of a bunch of young prisoners who find a lost Federation ship and manage to escape. With dreams of becoming part of Starfleet, they must deal with a threat to the entire fleet. It was really good, and I binged it over the course of a couple of days--unfortunately, it's becoming another victim of the streaming wars. Even though its second season is in post-production, the show's just been canceled, and Paramount+ will be pulling all episodes from their service very soon. Watch it while you can.
  7. What was to be the 11th Alan Parsons Project album, but Woolfson and Parsons reportedly had "creative differences", which led to this being released separately under the name Freudiana.
  8. I guessed today's Wordle on the first try.
  9. Memories of things that never happened These are always the hardest to forget
  10. At this point, it's not really all that surprising. Moms For Liberty chapter apologizes for quoting Hitler in their newsletter
  11. We could save that for a Highlander crossover.
  12. Wargames: I've watched this a few too many times, I have the launch code memorized. This was a recent 4K release of the movie from Shout Factory, and it looks and sounds better than it did on my old Blu-ray copy. A good watch. (4K UHD Blu-ray) I'm slowly watching the first season of Star Trek: Discovery on Paramount+. Once I accepted that I was watching Trek fanfiction, I was good.
  13. My Dad taught me when I was a kid, he had a degree in Forestry.
  14. I was walking through a convention hall, where a man was on a stage giving a presentation about the success of a product--"21 million have been repurposed into productive units for the good of society"--apparently a corporate necromantic program to create low-cost zombie workers according to the slides.
  15. I'm now current with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which I've generally enjoyed. (Paramount+) The Monuments Men: Based on the true story of the men who tried to find and return the art stolen by the Nazis at the end of WW2. It has a real problem with deciding to be a comedy or a drama, and rarely succeeds at either. (Hulu) Renfield: Comedy in which the titular charater attempts to escape from his controlling boss. This one's pretty good. (Peacock)
  16. The animation is typical for more recent DC direct-to-video movie releases. As for the plot, to quote Ivanova, "I think you're about to go where everyone has gone before."
  17. "I'll take my peanut butter cookie recipe to the grave!"
  18. Former Nevada Lt Governor Lonnie Hammargren has passed away at age 85 Hammargren was a colorful character who collected Las Vegas memorabilia in his homes, and he'd occasionally open them on Nevada Day for tours.
  19. I work across the street from City National Arena, which has been extremely busy for the last couple of weeks. I'm guessing that it's going to be absolutely wild tomorrow.
