  1. My friend quoted Johnny Dangerously once. Once!
  2. Cinderella: Disney's version of the Charles Perrault version of the story. It's been recently released through the Disney Movie Club in an Ultimate Collector's Edition, featuring a new 4K Blu-ray, a standard Blu-ray, a DVD, and a digital copy. The transfers for the Blu-rays are new, and have corrected an issue with the last release, where the film grain was scrubbed a little too much, and colors were a bit off. This one looks and sounds great (4K UHD Blu-ray) Johnny Dangerously: Spoof of the gangster film genre, this film's become a kind of a cult film. It's a fun watch. (HBO Max)
  3. I received an email earlier today. Netflix is planning on reducing the amount I pay them every month. https://about.netflix.com/en/news/netflix-dvd-the-final-season
  4. Unsurprisingly, it's not being covered on the Fox News website's front page.
  5. I had backed a Kickstarter for an Intrada project to re-record the Bernard Herrmann soundtracks for The Man Who Knew Too Much and On Dangerous Ground. The high resolution digital files were sent to me today, and are wonderful. The CD will be shipped to backers starting tomorrow, and to the general public on the 25th.
  6. The HOA decided that my pony wall was in disrepair after the grounds crew smashed a lattice for the bougainvillea that was in back of it, and ripped out the box hedge that was in front of it for at least the last 20 years. They sent me a notice of violation, and I've now removed the fragments of lattice left around the branches, and I've repainted the pony wall a neutral color. I've also bought a small garden gnome that's now in front of the wall. It might be joined by others if they keep up the complaints.
  7. Cocaine Bear: I'd probably file this under horror-comedy. It was unexpectedly enjoyable. Very loosely based upon the story of "Pablo Escobear", a black bear who was found to have ingested about 35 kilos of cocaine from a smuggler's dumped load. The movie version has various folks who come across the coked-out bear in many hilarious (and tragic) ways. Worth a watch. (Peacock) The Sea Beast: Very good animated feature about monster hunters who go after the terrifying creatures who roam the sea. It's a very good watch. (Netflix)
  8. On the ducks or the sharks? Oh, heck, why not both?
  9. 16.9% of Twitter is owned by the Saudi Sovereign Wealth Fund, which is considered the second largest investor after Musk. Not folks one would want to make lose a large amount of money.
  10. The reconstructed 1967 version of Days of Future Passed by the Moody Blues. It was discovered in 1972 that master tape of the original mix was damaged, and the album was remixed in stereo, and it was only this remixed version that was available on CD until the 50th anniversary edition release. That release included a reconstructed version of the 1967 mix.
  11. By Musk's own estimation, he had reduced T(w)itter's valuation to $20 Billion, or less than half of what he paid for it around six months ago.
  12. Mom used to make these with a good dark beer or stout. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/87685/beer-pancakes/
  13. I'm not the one to ask. I have a poster on Goose hanging in my media room.
  14. They were given extra lessons about the Mass in CCD classes?
  15. Revenge of the Nerds: It's been several decades since I've watched this, and certain parts of the story are cringeworthy nowadays. That's a problem with many comedies from the same time period, though. It's a nostalgia watch, but not one I'll need to revisit again. (Hulu) Shrek: A re-watch of the first movie in the series. It holds up pretty well, and some of the in-jokes about Michael Eisner and Disney particularly resonate. (Blu-ray) Kung Fu Panda: Jack Black voices Po, a panda who dreams of joining a group of elite kung fu masters. The story's solid, and the animation is good. (Blu-ray)
  16. Seems appropriate considering Hippopotamus = river horse.
  17. It does seem to have registered a trademark for it, however.
