    True. But I've been having this for longer than that. Of course, I can trace this back to when I was being fully employed as opposed to this under employed crap I've done for the last four years. Gah.

And a natural antagonist for the Comte, as while he has no actual interest in fashion, he just always looks good in whatever he picks out and tends to mix and match on his own, so is a Trendsetter (note the capital "T", i.e., I paid points), and he, not surprisingly of course given the wars and ongoing rivalry, dislikes the French (though not to the level of a disad - though one of his favorite sayings is "The best a Frenchman can aspire to in life is to be beaten by an Englishman"). To be fair, given the times, there's plenty of races he wouldn't even consider to have that much credit! I didn't realize about the Comte until after I had designed all this. The character is actually inspired by an idea I had as a kid well before RPGing.[/quote']

    Cool. We'll have three captains then. Mathew has the other one. Mine and his used to serve together, but he actually captained a ship and got to sail around the cape with a french tart. Or so this scallywag told me at the club. Naturally I threw him out a window for suggesting such a thing.

    And why is the captain on half pay?

    No ships to command. He is rather volatile and prone to violence, but has a patron rather high up and also some highly placed enemies. I forsee a violent death for him

     

    He's a captain, but was promoted in his last engagement after giving some frenchies the what for.

    One thing I have had mixed success with in describing FReD or 5ER is that I consider one of the best rules in the whole system is the advice that if you don't like a rule change or power change or anything else about the system, then don't use that part.

     

    I say mixed succes because while some people really like that part, an amazing number are completely put off by a system where each and every rule component is not holy writ, to be deviated from only at risk of heresey or worse...potential for imbalance. :D

    Well, beforehand I thought it worse. Most stuff is at least clarified nowadays. I liked 3rd a lot and really disliked a lot of what came into the BBB. They had closed some loop holes and opened up some big ones so there was a lot in the BBB I never used. (still don't).

     

    disclaimer: I'm still waking up so I'm really coming from the same angle as Mentor, just with less clarity...

    The problem with this thread, is we haven't had a good discussion going on it lately.

     

    Lemming, you and zornwil used to game together. Do you still meet for games? How is that weird game you were designing going?

    I've been a lazy bastard and not done any game design work even with the copious free time of unemployement. I'm not sure why my motivation is being such a low point lately.

     

    Zornwil on the other hand is running his Justice Squad game monthly with occasional other games. This week we're going for finishing up the Disavowed. You can check out some of his stuff at http://realschluss.org

    He does a nice job of writing up game summaries and various other bits. Though a couple of the other players contribute quite a bit. (Lamrok & Chromatic) We're pretty lucky in that we have a great gaming group. The only problem is that our schedules don't mesh well.

     

    Other games that are happening are a pulp game that another one is running (Does Kirk even have a login here?) and Shelley is testing out her Regency Hero game. And I better send both of them my character writeups. One is an escape artist and the other a volatile navy captain on half-pay.

    Chef Rick Bayless is facing off against "Iron Chef" Bobby Flay on the premiere episode of Iron Chef America.

     

    Chef Rebecca Babbitt, my primary instructor in the arts culinary, apprenticed with Bayless, so you might say I'm part of the Bayless legacy.

     

    I seriously hope he kicks Flay's ass, and not just because Flay's an utter tool.

    Flay is an arrogant jerk who cheapens the culinary arts.

    I think with cuts and scarring' date=' it has a lot more to do with how it heals. Of course a really huge/bad cut almost inevitably leaves a scar but the scope of it begs certain roughness in healing. But a small cut that doesn't heal well probably scars the same, just less likely not to be that way. I had a small scar for a long time for a cut that seemed inconsequential, and I think because the cut seemed to be minor, I never treated it any which way (it was a cat cut actually). But it left a little scar for several years.[/quote']

    Yea. Having had the experience of many scars, the way it heals does have a lot of bearing into it. (Didn't help that I tore the skin on the burn today again. grumble).

     

    The rips I got in my hand two weeks ago by a cat at the shelter have completly healed over on the other hand. I can barely find most of the spots.

    I got a nice inch long section with about an 1/8 inch width now. It might scar, but doubtful. Though I'm still trying to figure out why the rip I got in my wrist still shows four years later and it wasn't that bad. (Though I'm one of those people you don't want to start listing scars though many are starting to fade now...)

    And there's that self deprecating mode. Don't make me go back and review those posts to glean out the useful stuff! I'm too lazy! (And besides, you've entertained many of us, keeping us from finding something more depraved to do)

    Ah. I was talking about Mentor on that one. I think I'm closer to AtomMan in politics than Mentor, but I'd rather spend time with Mentor.
