  1. Re: Aquaman: WTF?

btw, why does Dr. Strange need an Eye of Aggamotto and an Orb of Aggamotto, when they seem to be funcitonally identical?

Bulky focus for the second one so he could get more points out of it?

And how can Ghost Rider's skull burn in space?
It's not real fire, it's magic fire

And how did Marvel's version of the Champions (of LA) get saddled with the burden of Angel as both the team's benefactor (he's not that rich) and the team's only flier (he's not that fast)? Splaintame that one.

He always seemed pretty rich and on the flying front, so?

  2. Re: Super Names

They look the same as the one that actually lost me points before Ben turned off NegaRep.

Odd. I'd ask Ben or Dan. But I bet that's the case. And I'm sure it was offset in any case.

  3. Re: Background Cliches

Well, God knows that Midnight (my character) looks nothing like me. Maybe our heights are the same, but that's it. I'm 5'8", chestnut/auburn/silver hair, hazel (green-gold) eyes, and a little overweight. Whereas Midnight is 5'8", rich auburn hair, jade green eyes, and a fabulous body. She is also incredibly graceful and coordinated, while I am an avowed klutz of the first water.

But as you so rightly remarked earlier, if you've got it, flaunt it!

Hmm, I've played 5' (not counting a random pixie) to 8'2" for PCs. Come to think of it, the only character that I put at my height is nothing like me.

  4. Re: Super Names

I thought so too, but these are recent. I guess the actual subtraction from your rep total is off (ny total seems unchanged), but the ding still logs.

Two of the three detractors left no comment, but one seems to be making a positive comment (bad grammar and spelling, so hard to tell). Maybe the interface was a little much for him.

Are you sure it's not just grey rep? If it's from someone with 10 or less rep, they have no power.

  5. Re: Bases: Do you charge points for appliances and utilities?

Your players want a base. Do you charge points for basic lights, bathrooms, stoves, refrigerators, etc.?

It's an Avenger's Mansion style base in the middle of the campaign city. Do they have to pay poinst for lights, heat and plumbing?

What if it were a hidden lair under the city, Lex Luthor in SUperman I style?

What if it were a space station?

    Thoughts?

Charging for bathrooms explains a lot of those earlier plans for the FF & Avengers...

  6. Re: Musings on Random Musings

The reverse of that is no picnic either. Shaving is a pain in the ass' date=' of course, but I also have big, thick hairs that grow out of my eyebrows, ears, and nose, not to mention lone mutants that sprout from random places on my body. I used to have to do something about the unibrow--now I'm happy if I can keep the actual brows under control.[/quote']

Hmm, I still have the random hairs, etc... without the ability of a beard.

  7. Re: A Thread for Random Musings

Cat scratches & bites are really annoying. I'm soaking my hand in an epson salt bath after attempting the meds on one cat. Second week in a row.

    The procedure:

    1. First eye drop with #1 solution

    2. Feed treat with pill in it

    3. 20 minutes later, second eye drop solution

now last week was a bit annoying in that after the last procedure she bolted off me and gashed my arm in the launch procedure. This week she decided to pre-emptively strike before #1. Claw, Claw, Bite, Claw

  8. Re: Musings on Random Musings

Despite what it looks like, this is not a reply. Its a random thought inspired by a previous random thought.

Something I've noticed in the Envy/Compliment/Whatever thread is that the greatest majority of comments regarding me are about my website/PBEM or my cooking.

Is it just that I haven't let out all that much personal information?

There's other stuff that can be dug out, but do we really want to bring up your law experience? ;)

  9. Re: Musings on Random Musings

In the Compliment' date=' Envy, and You Don't Know Me threads, I've been noticing a lot of positive feedback on my beard. Is it really that hard to grow one? If so, I feel bad, because I only let myself grow the fool thing through pure laziness.[/quote']

Well, I can't grow a beard. I can grow a nice scruff that will suffice well for begging on the side of the road. I actually envy the women who don't grow anything, since then I wouldn't have to shave. :D

  10. Re: Musings on Random Musings

I'm tall enough, IMO, thanks, that I won't wear platform shoes (not even the kind with the fish in them).

F***-me/F***-you boots, of course, are another matter entirely (I had a pair of GORGEOUS black leather thigh high boots, with steel toes and 5-inch steel stiletto heels).

Yeah, that style footwear is fine by me. I once dated a woman that wore heels that almost got her to my height. Very much a redhead as well. I barely survived that month.

  11. Re: Musings on Random Musings

What do you need platform shoes for? To put the star on top of Mount Everest?

    6'8"...

I can't stand in platform shoes...

    YEESH!

I can't swim with a submarine strapped to my back.

Somehow, I don't think it'll ever be a problem for you, Lem.

of course I'm not even talking about me wearing the silly things. Any more height makes it dangerous for me and doorways.

  12. Re: Musings on Random Musings

    Heh. Good answer!

It's even worse when you don't want to have children and answer things like:

    "When are you having children?"

"Why don't you have children yet?"

    "Where's my grandchildren?"

Heh. My mom and my wife's parents didn't have any desire for grandkids. Which works out fine since they're not getting any.

Though when people asked it was always nice to answer, "I'm fixed"

  13. Re: Musings on Random Musings

Is that all? Somehow I thought you guys had been there longer.

BTW, as someone was discussing swastikas, that one near your door may have been a long-pre-Nazi era design, back when many Americans had them installed apparently in their original vein of good health or prospects or such. How old is your house? Do you know if the same party owned it for a long period before and during the war (i.e., they might be among those few who said "Gaddumit, I ain't-a gonna change just 'causa that danged Hitler fellow!")

    March 12, 1999

The house was built 1938. The tile is the same type that is near the fireplace area. An appraiser thought the tile might be of german origin, but wasn't sure. The house was sold to us by the man who had grown up in the house. (So two owners, same family). And we didn't even notice the swastika until we were doing some cleaning near the front door.

  14. Re: Gay and Bisexual Superheroes

Haven't really thought about it much sometimes in terms of my characters. Most would be hetro, but it was hardly ever an issue.

Several characters, heroes & villians, were gay, but once again never an issue.

I do remember once a con game where the villian was introduced and the villian was gay. And naturally the gay part was to make him more evil. So naturally, my friend & I had our same sex characters be a couple.
