  1. Re: Hot Enough For Ya?

Damn. He did and then I remembered something, and read the sidebar in Starhero.

10d6 Normal Damage, Continious, AP, per segment for the surface.

Next step was the way overboard 350d6 RKA, Continious, 2x AP, 4x Pentrating.

    And then it gets worse.

  2. Re: Hot Enough For Ya?

Star Hero actually has a sidebar to answer that question.

The short version is, that close to the surface of the sun is the equivalent of taking a 37d6 Energy Killing Attack, Area Effect, every Segment.

Ah, ok. That's not so bad. For some reason I thought that was killing. It's that next zone where it starts getting nasty with the 350d6 Killing, AP , Penetrating, etc...

That Silver Surfer dude is really tough!

  3. Re: The end of the world as we know it...

Its all about fear. Villains are a "Cowardly and Superstitious Lot" and you have to exploit that when you get a chance. I think we would all agree that huge hoardes of otherworldly beings singing "Its a Small World" exploits those fears...

Yea, but the fear is getting out to everyone. Though noticing how many people have that set as their ring tone now is rather alarming.

  4. Re: The supporting cast - in the limelight

I think it would be a BLAST playing 150 point super agents in a world full of 350 point villains!

"OK people, listen UP! On this mission we're going agienst Lazer again, and as you all know he's one tough cookie. We know what part of town he's in, but not exactly where. That means while we're in the field we have two choices - We use teamwork, stealth and tactics, or we die one by one..."

Gah! Twitch twitch twitch. Sorry, had a friend who ran a similar game, but he was the type that always did the GM vs. Players. Villians always ambushed us (Ok, it's post 12, they get a surprise action...)

Thankfully, Zornwil wouldn't be doing that to us.

  5. Re: The end of the world as we know it...

This was drafted, by the way, by the player who has the handle Chromatic on the boards.

Now, also, he submitted a "simple" version (in fact the above is the distillation of his 3,000+ page manifesto, he's one of the 2 >100 INT characters), as to him all people are pretty low-intelligence. The entertainer shape-shifter, Sammy, has decided to turn it into a song, using "It's a Small World After All" as the basis (long story, basically the mentalist once triggered a worldwide echoing of this song in people's minds, not long ago)...

In Spectrum's defense, Nexus' summoned creatures were singing the darn tune! It's just too bad I got plugged into the world later on.

It's a world of hopes And a world of fears

  6. Re: Musings on Random Musings

Its almost as bad as saying' date=' "Oh, let me catch up on the boards real quick" only to find out there are three pages of new stuff, and unless you plow through it [b']ALL[/b] in one sitting, you'll lose your spot.

I really wish this board simply remembered which posts you read and didn't read even if you leave the boards with some posts still unread

God yes. Most annoying thing about this board. If it wasn't for the people, I'd be hanging out elsewhere.

  7. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER

From the women I know who shave (or who used to shave) once you start' date=' you [i']have[/i] to do it almost every day or the stubble from re-growth will itch like the devil and irritate the partner's flesh that rubs up against it (humping a cactus anyone?). So if you're in it for the long-haul, consider laser hair removal or electrolysis

Ah yes, the cactus syndrome. I think my wife really hated the time my hair was growing back after surgery.

  8. Re: The end of the world as we know it...

Thanks' date=' I had kind of reached the end of this so wasn't planning to necessarily update, but will gladly do as there's anything I think is interesting. I have full write-ups on the campaign at http://www.realschluss.org/x-champions/x-champions_issues/index.html , not yet updated for this last issue.[/quote']

Good luck with that. At least with the latest thread. I'm looking over the vast volume that Miq & JT produced and with your info.

  9. Re: Hooray for Newbies! why are you suddenly here?

    Gentlemen,

Take it easy, I sadly enough was one of the 10 foolish long beards to purchase Synnibar at Gen Con in 92' and the only two game modules to come out for it(the wound is still to deep for the heart to forget) and before you slam Gary Gygax's "Cyborg Commandos" I roleplay tested that game and gave it to thumbs up. In my defense, I was young...and needed the money!

    RPJ

There were two modules! Damn, I only picked up one of them...

  10. Re: Hooray for Newbies! why are you suddenly here?

I maybe a newbie to this message board, but I'm hardly what you'd call a newbie to the Hero system.

<snip> The high point of my life came when my name appeared in the "Contributors and Playtesters" credit at the beginning of Champions 4th Edition in 1989.

Hey tracer, did they spell your name right? :D I opted out which at the time was rather silly. I don't know if it was just the people at the Sunnyvale meeting that got their names mangled or if others did as well.

  11. Re: Hooray for Newbies! why are you suddenly here?

For the love of God, don't remind me.

Reading Synnibar is a very bad experience, but I have a bad Synnibar experience that probably trumps you all. When i was touring the Northwest con circuit to promote the first edition of HeartQuest, I happened to run into the game's designer, Raven S. McCracken. A leather-clad, hypersexual man who was pormoting his next game at the same cons and seemed unaware of both his poor reputation in the industry and his own complete lack of talent as a game designer. (He was promoting a collectible board game that rivals his earlier work in its sheer awfulness.) Not only did he start lecturing me on how to be a success in the RPG bsuienss, but after reading HeartQuest he uniltaerally declared himself my biggest fan.

How that's for a ringing endorsemnt? The designer of the worst RPG in human history loves my game. I was contemplating suicide for the next three weeks. It's like being told your screenplay is great by the author of Super Mario Brothers.

I can say that Heartquest is a much better read. Granted I have Synnibar and have reread it and find it a hilarious read. HQ is a decent read for it's intended purpose.

  12. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER

The lower half of the "bikini" is drawn on with a graphics program, and poorly at that.

Airbrushed bimbo's like that who have their entire bodies shaved do absolutely nothing for me. I am probably one of the few remaining men on earth who thinks women should stay natural down there.

There are plenty that agree with the natural or maybe just trimmed. I kind of wonder about the landing strips that seemed to get popular.

And I'm not positive about the graphics addition. Some of that might just be due to poor compresion quality. Or it was to cover up a camel toe problem.

  13. Re: Hooray for Newbies! why are you suddenly here?

I would suggest one of the Genre forums, depending on what genre you are intending to play. You might also find it useful to do a search for "GM tips" (set the search to look for thread titles, rather than the entire message).

    And welcome!

I'll second that. Lots of ideas, tips, and other stuff can be found.

And welcome. Most of the people are friendly and when they're not, we tend to smack the rude one.

  14. Re: The cranky thread

So I find last week from my mom that my aunt went into surgery. The way my mom put it, it sounded routine and I didn't get to ask what for.

This week I find out it was to remove a cancerous growth. They think they got it all.

My mom spends forty minutes on talking about the post office and other mundane crap, but gah.
