It's because of precedent and tradition, and Trump's transparent lies. Since 1968 every POTUS except Donald Trump and Gerald Ford, and most vice-presidents, and candidates for those offices, have made their tax returns public, to demonstrate to the American people that they have nothing to hide. Trump's refusal to do so has been compounded by his excuse of an IRS audit, which made no sense when he first gave it and is ludicrously improbable four years later. The fact of an audit never prevented Trump from releasing his taxes, and the only reason the audit has dragged on this long is because his lawyers have been fighting it.

I'm not sure how many people here have taken the time to go to the official Trump for President campaign website.

But there is literally no place on the website where it lays out his plans for what he wants to do if he wins election to office. It's the most bizarre political thing I've seen.

Campaign sites have an issues site telling what the candidate believes. And as part of saying what the candidate believes, it lays out what he intends to do about those beliefs.

Every single campaign site I've ever seen.

In contrast, the Trump campaign website has a section to boast about his past accomplishments, such as they are.

Trump has mentioned a few things he intends to do along the way in his rambling rally rants (things aside from prosecuting his enemies). But not in any consistent way that would lead you to believe he was serious about it. And not in writing.

I really want/need a real political party to reemerge in the post-Trump era rather than a personality cult. Even a real political party which had an agenda I thoroughly disagree with would be a step up.

And yet there is an entirely too broad a swath of Americans who will believe this is part of the plot against them/their country/their party because it's too hard to think critically about the narrative they're being presented, and the many holes and questionable sources the information is coming from.

It's easier to think a vast Deep State is conspiring in total secrecy (except for the valiant and wily Q, who has somehow avoided all attempts by said Deep State to root out the traitor), to overthrow the duly elected and patriotic government that is fighting for them and their rights, than it is that this story might be false, and that the main person involved may have something personal to gain (just read his quote, again - he wants to protect his family, his rep, etc).

I don't think it will have a measurable impact.  As has been noted several times, the fight is over undecideds, and I think there aren't enough of those in any one state to sway the vote of that state.

Quote ' "[The] American people can judge for themselves," he said on Thursday. "I have no wish to bury anyone. I've never been political. The few contributions I've made have been the Democrats. But what I am is a patriot, and a veteran, to protect my family name, and my business reputation. I need to ensure that the true facts are out there."

Also - his timing is incredibly bad for his credibility.  Why did the apolitical, patriotic veteran who is interested only protecting his name and reputation get involved in shady dealings that he knew were wrong in the first place?  Then, why wait until the story blew in a tabloid before coming forward?

Are you thinking about modeling the SAN stat?  Do characters just buy gear/weapons and so on, or would you consider using Resource Points from Dark Champions?

I'm thinking about a couple character ideas, I'll send them via email when I get some fleshed out.

    Hey;

What are your preferred mapping/chat/dice rolling apps?
From the character example is it set modern America?
Do you have any preferences about types of characters (shooter, reporter/investigator, etc)?  If the characters already know each other, backstory, etc?
Anything you would want players to stay from in the background or build?
Are  5 - 10 pt powers allowable (maybe magic or psi or holy abilities) or only skills?
Is there a minimum or maximum number of players you're comfortable with?
    What haven't I asked that I should?

They vacated a few of the charges, they over turned the death sentence on procedural grounds, and remanded to the original court for re-trial on that phase.

"Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's convictions on Counts 13, 15, and 18 are reversed, and the district court is directed to enter a judgment of acquittal on those counts," the ruling, which was entered at 3 p.m. on Friday said. "Dzhohkar Tsarnaev's death sentences on Counts 4, 5, 9, 10, and 14 are vacated, and the matter is remanded to the district court with directions to hold a new penalty-phase trial."

They did not commute the sentence.  You can be happy knowing that he will probably still fry (or whatever means they use...) and the continuation of the case will cost 10-15 times more than if they had simply tried him on murder with special circumstance, and throw him into a deep, dark, dank hole for the rest of his life.

Let Trump try to cancel/delay the election...

Article II, Section 1 covers this.  The president and vice president are limited to a four year term in office; the number of terms they can serve is defined elsewhere (22nd).  The of start/end of that term is set by Congress, currently the 20th of January.  We won't have a president or vice president on January 20th if the election doesn't happen.  Following the order of succession, we'd say hello to president Pelosi (or different person, if she isn't re-elected by her state vote).

He'd like that result even less than conceding to Biden.

Also, polls show the main place his claims are gaining traction are with his base - depressing odds they will turn out/mail in their ballots.

'A big improvement' is a subjective valuation.  All the calculations, modifiers, costs of powers/skills/talents etc are taken care of in the background.  When the character is built, you can print out a clean sheet (and legible might count, depending on your players writing lol), or just keep it on your screen as you play.  Since spells, artifacts and so on are built as powers that will also help you out. You can export the data and use it with the tracker app Hero Combat Manager (it has it's own forum).  The app is cheap ($25) for what you get, if those things are useful to you.  For me it's very useful, but I've been using it across several different versions of the Hero System for years.

To be honest, around here the person getting the blame is the guy who fumbled foreign policy so badly that we have to have missile alerts in the first place.

I usually dismiss conservative publications like the National Review out of hand, but this particular article is especially laughable.  It starts with the bald faced lie that military officers are always held accountable for failures on this scale, and then goes into an irrelevant tangent about Japanese business culture.  (One wonders if that tangent would have been included if the director's last name was Smith.)  It complains about a supposed lack of accountability in public service but conveniently forgets that corporations are even less accountable.  Accountability for this particular fiasco will in fact occur this fall, on Election Day.

Meanwhile, what actually happened was that in less than 12 hours, the public officials in charge figured out what happened, took immediate steps to prevent it from happening again, disciplined the poor bastard who chose the wrong option on the pulldown menu, and went on camera to take personal responsibility.  There was exactly zero finger pointing.  That's pretty damn refreshing when the rest of my news feed is full of politicians banding together to elect child rapists while shouting "no collusion!" loudly and often, hoping to convince themselves it's true.

But by all means, take the opportunity to smear public unions!  Even the article didn't go that far.

If the judge you're referring to is Roy Moore, that act of defiance cost him his job at the time, and the beliefs behinds that act cost him the recent election.  If there's another case, please provide a fact checked citation.

And it got him jailed and the ensuing presidential pardon doesn't provide relief form further legal actions (last I saw, anyway).  And the entity has stopped all actions that lead to his arrest.

Ahem. In fact "we" all didn't, but yes he was elected. He is the POTUS. I just don't particularly care for that fact, and look forward to the end of his term. And the inevitable "deconstruction of everything Donald Trump accomplished" to parallel his efforts re: Obama.

Essentially, I foresee a cycle of this barring some unusual change in direction for the nation. Both ideological positions being espoused are antithetical to the opposing one. Compromise is presently not an option.

Institutional disobedience isn't a relevant term when applied broadly to state and local government in relation to the Federal government. Neither state nor local governments have any direct responsibility to obey "directions" from the Federal in a "chain of command". That's not how our system of government works.

I work in local government, I do not work for the Federal (or even state) government. If given a direction by the executive branch, I'd laugh and refer them to our counsel. But I wouldn't "obey" it under this administration or the previous one.

That's not how any of this works. Jurisdictions and authority are limited. Courts can expand or restrict authority. Contracts between parties define roles (such as County contracts with the State, and State contracts with the Fed - Medicaid is a great example of this from County to DHCS to HHS).

The word 'conspiracy' was not used by Old Man.  But, the actions of fundamentally conservative bloc supporters (e.g.KochPAC, et al) do rise to the level of 'conspiracy' - the systematic support for candidates and legislative actions that will curtail expansion of services for the neediest and most under-represented segments of society, at the benefit of the richest can be argued to represent a conspiracy.

Insurance is not the business of uncertainty - it is the business of profiting from *your* uncertainty.  It is a very predictable business - the insurance provider always profits.   It did not make sense from a business standpoint to remain in markets where they could not earn a profit, and since they were not allowed to share costs across state lines (in some cases) the risk pools were kept artificially small, and therefore unprofitable.  And the current political rhetoric continues to exacerbate that uncertainty - why would a very profitable business opt to continue in a market that is so uncertain?

The fact that the Republicans did not have even the broad strokes of a plan ready to go after 7 years of opposition is very telling of the ability to plan and foresight of the party (the same lack of ability applies to the Democrats, to be fair).  Over the course of seven years they could have constructed a frame work, filled in major chunks, done a lot of ground work that would have led to finalization of something within the six months of an entirely Republican controlled government.  They could have lined up support, they could have planned for the inevitable roadblocks, etc.  It appears they did none of that.

But, the fact that a bill has passed the House, and McConnell would have passed the Senate version and moved to reconciliation given his preference indicates we don't need to talk about the presence or lack of a plan, we have the factual changes they want to enact.

What the CBO has analyzed shows a uniformly bleak picture for those that the ACA covers, so it's not just Old Man's dire predictions.

The argument the RNC is making for non-intrusiveness is that the phone doesn't ring, so the call isn't interrupting dinner, say.  A test that ignores personal preferences (do not call lists), or costs to the user - some plans or carriers still charge for accessing  voice mail.  If they could, I'm sure both parties would exempt their various offices from any do not call lists.
