Crax observed the creations of some of his fellow gods and felt nothing but contempt.
Talking mice, squirrels, the hippopotamus, fireflies, I mean really ?
A mosquito landed on his hand and began to suck his blood. At least his father knew how to create something that fit his image. It flew off, satiated. ‘Go my pretty, let’s see what my blood does’ thought Murder and then paused.
 
Perhaps he needed to create something that spreads but what did that ? Certain animals and of course plants. A killer plant, he thought, mighty it would be with deadly poisons or thorns that would pierce flesh and extinguished as soon as the races realised what he had done.
But what if he was more subtle about it ? Yes ! He would use the other gods powers and gifts to develop something. Here Multiplicity and his gift of alchemy would be useful for the plant would have different effects on different races.
 
To begin with humans would be the test subjects. They would use the plant as an addition to a drink and it would become an intoxicant. That would lead eventually to someone becoming belligerent and thus murderous. That’s addiction for you.
Elves could drink it as an intoxicant and they would be ok but enough of it would lead them to becoming melancholic and losing all hope.
Dwarves could make all sorts of intoxicants from it but eventually this would lead some to greed and wanting to possess all of the plant to brew the perfect liqueur would lead to madness and murder.
Wisps would occasionally glow with an unnatural fire from prolonged contact leading other races to kill it as a source of ill omen.
Rivers could wash away the plant so they would carry seeds which could suddenly sprout into life and strangle the water in retaliation.
Shades avoid it as it makes them visible even in shadows,
His own race, the K-rac C’ho C’o are poisoned by it.
Gandians are weakened by it for weapons coated with the sap or fruit or the flowers of the plant create a vulnerability that repeated hits will lead to their demise.
The Talking Mice use it for bedding and food but it makes them delicious in certain recipes.
Satyrs drink themselves to death on it.
If a hippopotamus ate enough of it their eyes would glow red and they would turn murderous.
Squirrels could use it for bedding as the mice did. The downside being that people would raid their nests for the plant, especially dwarves the greedy devils.
 
And to cap it all, the plant can be used for healing.
 
It usually grows as a bush which has blue flowers and then produces fruits which all but mosquitoes like until the fruit falls off the bush if not harvested. The fruits cause instant intoxification if then eaten by sentient species but then intense gastric distress and madness. Animals are not affected but prefer to eat the plant before the fruit falls off. If the plant is burned it will not reappear for a while but when it does return it does so slowly.

Harken well for there were never more nobler examples of Clarkent Kal’s heroes than Lady Sheld and Lord Darg. Many are the tales that tell of their quests for Justice and Righteousness which also led to them exploring. Their opposition to the evil of Crax also found them favour with the Goddess of Hope. They also managed to get on the wrong side of Ceass, goddess of Strife, because they supported hope and Masque, god of Intrigue because espionage and shadows should never cloak Justice. But their downfall was not caused because of their deeds against the God of Murder but because of his father, Mister Rancor. After they managed to resist his hatred, intolerance, lies and manipulation he summoned for his son.
 
‘Oh most wondrous father, what may I do for you ?’ greeted the God of Evil to his sire. Mister Rancor displayed the two heroes.
‘Oh. Them. A thorn in my side for some time’
‘And now, me. What can we do to be rid of these miserable pests ?’ replied Hatred’s Peer.
‘I have tried many schemes to thwart and foil them. Or cause their deaths. Gone are the days when you could simply point at someone and have them die’ sighed his son with regret.
‘If you endanger one, the other comes to the rescue. And together they are insufferable. They seem to be immune to our powers, even Nagus Sterling could not tempt them. I know this is not what you want to hear father but I have been keen to rid the Cylinder of them.’
‘Between the two of us we should be able to come up with something’ replied his parent.
 
Crax nodded and then Rancor noticed his son have a sudden thought. ‘Maybe, we have been going about this the wrong way. They would never turn to evil and they have proven too strong to bend to intolerance or be swayed by lies and manipulation. But we could turn one to the path of Vengeance by causing the death of the other’ said Crax
Mister Rancor was content. His son had a real talent for running with the gifts of his father.
‘I have an idea. Something that has never been seen before but I will need your help for I need it to be imbued with hate and vengeance as well as evil and murder. Provided I do this right we will also have something to offend not just Clarkent Kal and Hope but also Alitheon’
‘You shall have whatever you need my son’, Rancor responded and smiled falsely for Hatred does not know pleasure, it is alien to him. Crax never called Nadiya by name except as Hope. An added bonus would be crossing the God of Illumination.
 
Crax set to work and poured his evil and a thirst for murder into his creation. His father added a little hate, the desire for vengeance and a little manipulation. The two gods decided against intolerance as that might make it unusable and Crax insisted that his ‘pet’ must be patient. Finally it was ready and Crax asked his father to take a look at it. At first Mister Rancor did not notice it but as he drew close he discerned that it was all but invisible in darkness. He also did not notice or feel the waves of evil and hatred it gave off until he got close it. It knew him and bowed respectfully which satisfied Rancor. Granted it had too many tentacles and teeth for his liking but it reeked of blasphemy.
‘Impressive, but I don’t see how this will offend Alitheon’. So Crax told him and his father gave his trademark false smile.
 
Lady Sheld being heavy with child paused her career to go into confinement while Lord Darg continued battling Crax’s minions and other assorted foes. However Crax stayed his hand. It was not until Lord Darg was returning to her that Evil struck. The god brought the beast close by and then unleashed it with the words ’Dins, dins’. Messengers reached Darg with dreadful news, something had attacked the stronghold where Lady Sheld had been sequestered. There was a lot of blood but no body. Darg hurried home and began to look for clues and answers.
 
Thus the second part of the plan unfolded. Darg used learning to try and find what had become of his beloved Sheld but he could find no trace of what had become of her nor how it had been done. Little clues here and there led him on. He became convinced that a god had been involved and there were three suspects; Mister Rancor, Masque and Crax. It was most likely the latter but this was far more subtle than the God of Murder was capable of up to now. Still he persevered but even the gods could not help him as they themselves did not know what had happened.
 
Eventually he tracked down a Truth Stone which could even persuade a god to tell the truth and then he set out to confront a god although they could only answer Yes or No unlike others who would be compelled to tell all. Darg determined that he must confront Crax and set out to meet his nemesis. When he came face to face with him the Master of Malice asked ‘What do you want ?’
‘Do you kill Lady Sheld ?’ asked the hero
‘No’ replied the god smugly and vanished for a god can only be forced to answer one question.
Darg felt that there was more to it and determined to face the god again. After a while he managed to find the god who seemed bemused. ‘You again ?’ said Evil’s champion. ‘Were you responsible for what happened to Lady Sheld ?’ asked the hero. The god deflated and shook his head and then turned and said ‘Yes !’ with a triumphant smile before he vanished again.
The hero set off after his foe again unaware that he was being drawn deeper and deeper into the trap of a god, or more accurately two gods.
 
Finally after several near misses, Lord Darg tracked Crax to the border of the Wildlands. The god saw him and seemed to roll his eyes as if to say ‘Here we go again’ but he did not flee.
The hero simply asked ‘How ?’
‘I thought you’d never ask’ replied his foe, ‘Behold !’
Darg was appalled by what he saw for it radiated evil and hate and nothing should live that was so blasphemous. It also had far too many tentacles and teeth.
Crax grinned ‘I call it the Soul Eater’ and watched as realisation sank in to the hero. Just a little bit more, just a little bit more and he would have him.
‘It made quite a meal of Lady Sheld’ and now for the coup de grace, ‘And her unborn child’
Darg suddenly found that neither could or would be returned to him or to the world and was devastated.
 
‘What’s the matter ? All hope gone ?’ sneered the God of Murder. That broke the hero who rallied to the attack. His patron meanwhile alerted to the peril of the champion set out to his aid but was delayed by Master Rancor and Masque.
The god nimbly evaded every strike until Lord Darg cried out for justice and struck the God.
The Soul Eater trembled and made ready to attack but his creator stopped it. ‘No, this one is mine’ and turning to the hero said ‘For that, you die’
The god caught the hero by the neck and strangled the life out of him and as he stood saw he had an audience of some of the other gods. Alitheon, Thoal-anni’in and Clarkent Kal regarded the Soul Eater with disgust and one made a move to destroy it only for Crax to stand in the way.
‘You can’t destroy it without hitting me and you all agreed to abide by rules saying that we cannot fight each other directly. It cannot fight a god, I am not going to make something that could turn on and kill me.’
Pointing at the corpse and displaying his wound he said, ‘He attacked me. Self defence’
Alitheon was displeased and Clarkent Kal looked as if he was about to ignore the rules when another voice spoke.
‘Looking for revenge ? How gratifying ! But we have places to be, goodbye dear colleagues’ and Mister Rancor spirited his son and the Soul Eater away.

We do something more akin to the Graeco-Roman pantheon or the Norse. So all the Gods are family and are more closely inter connected which let's face it we have not done beforehand.
So first pick next year is the initial domain and then we agree how each god is related to another and that will be by consensus. If people want to agree prior to the start of the draft then they will let me know.
Any thoughts ?

Old Man's choice does not specifically address what Crax has done but it might as an add on to the choice. However should Allitheon try to reincarnate or bring back those that Crax just killed, then Undeath will be brought into being to thwart him.
DShomshak. Why do you think I chose the name Crax ? He could use the cracks as a misheard plea to him and stop it dead. Time Travel would be possible EXCEPT on the dead continent or to get to it from elsewhere before the destruction.

Oeneus chooses to use music to commemorate the event. He can have a secondary domain/option as a reward.
 
Old Man's choice does not specifically address what Crax has done but it might as an add on to the choice. However should Allitheon try to reincarnate or bring back those that Crax just killed, then Undeath will be brought into being to thwart him.
DShomshak. Why do you think I chose the name Crax ? He could use the cracks as a misheard plea to him and stop it dead. Time Travel would be possible EXCEPT on the dead continent or to get to it from elsewhere before the destruction.
 
As I said beforehand IF you do something about the murder of the continent and want a specific choice say so and provided I accept your action you can have it otherwise it is random.

Time for some flavour text.
 
On the nature of Crax and his relationship to the other Gods.
 
Crax came after some of the other Gods and so there are claims that Mister Rancor is his father for hate can lead to murder. And although murder can lead to hate, you have to have hate before you can have murder which is the argument used to suggest that Mister Rancor is Crax's father. Similarly Ceass the goddess of Strife is older than Crax as again Strife can lead to murder but you have to have strife before murder. There are thus suggestions that Mister Rancor fathered both Ceass and Crax. Or that he fathered Ceass and she give birth to Crax. So either Ceass is Crax's mother or his older sister. Crax's doctrines indeed venerate both Mister Rancor and Ceass but do not specify the exact relationship. Some say that this is the work of Masque.
It is unclear what role Masque and Crax have with each other for indeed intrigue can lead to murder and vice versa. Some say that this is to spite both Aziza and her Truth and Alitheon and Learning although whether Masque or Crax is responsible for this is hard to say.
Crax is on friendly terms with Nagus Starling as Greed, commerce and profit can lead to murder which pleases the former no end.
 
There are two gods that Crax does not like or indeed hates which gives theologians evidence that Mister Rancor is his daddy or indeed is on friendly terms with him. Brightbringer and Clarkent Kal are those that worship Crax dare not mention as the wrath of the god is fiercesome. Hope does not lead to murder or and resilience can thwart it while righteousness and justice oppose evil and murder. There is an epic work that describes Crax attempting to kill Hope but failing in one version due to the resilience of the goddess and the goddess being saved by the god of righteousness in another. While Crax will resort to all sorts of foul schemes to kill Nadiya, the sight of Clarkent Kal unhinges him to the extent he will break off from what he is doing to fight the god of righteousness. There is one point of agreement between the creeds of gods of evil and of righteousness, Crax and Clarkent Kal hated each other on first sight. Indeed Crax does need to be asked by Mister Rancor or Ceass for aid if either are opposing Nadiya Brightbringer or Clarkent Kal, he joins right in. Unless of course either of his elders have asked that he does not get involved.
 
If another god asked for assistance against his enemies Crax would be cautious if not outright suspicious. He is more likely to believe Masque or Nagus Starling but the chance to thwart Hope and Righteousness can blind him to another's agenda.
Crax is wary of Thoal Anni'in for fire can aid but also thwart evil and murder.
Crax has no time for Truth or reflection but both can lead to evil and murder and also away from it.
Illumination however can bring light onto a deed as dark as murder which pits Alitheon's followers against Crax.
Crax should be friendlier with Oeneus as intoxicants and sex are perfect recipes for evil and murder but something makes Crax neutral towards him. There is at least one piece of work that claims that this is due to Oeneus being Crax's father. Where this leaves the God of Bastards and Neglect is anyone's guess as Crax has little if anything to do or say about him.
Crax has little to do with Strangecharm and Etterskell as they do not seem to aid or oppose him in any way.
 
NOTE: I have deliberately kept this vague as we are only just beginning and various sects can believe what they want it just might not be right.
I do like the idea of an Axis of Evil with Mister Rancor, Ceass and Crax opposing Nadiya and Clarkent Kal but whether Rancor and Ceass are indeed related to Crax in any way shape of form is left up to their owners. I have left it as an option.
Both Hermit and csyphrett have set themselves against Psybolt and myself with their choices so I do hope that you are content with Crax's opposition.
If indeed Enforcer84 wants to set Strife against Hope which is what I gathered from the initial selection, I can backpedal so you and Hermit can have room to breathe.
