  1. A scarecrow who wanted to harvest a superior brain might take a special interest in the cybernetic gadgeteer hero.

    DC Heroes

I’d be more interested in seeing Legion of Substitute Heroes and Legion academy conversions. A visit by the Subs could fit into most any campaign, yet you don’t see many attempts at doing Infectious Lass and the rest.
  3. How about a demented version of the scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz? He didn’t have a brain and wanted to get one. So maybe he could harvest brains from unwilling donors then just shove the brain into his head. If you want to do the actual scarecrow from the movie, maybe his ultimate goal is to figure out how to get the lion, the Tin Man, and the rest of his friends into the real world. As for powers, maybe duplication if he has access to a pile of straw and a transformation ability to turn people into either scarecrows if they are dead ...or into flying monkeys if they are alive (a little trick he picked up from the directional witch of your choice).
  4. Re: How to convince a hero group that they should be registered and work for governme I think the way to register with the government is to use a 3rd party private organization. Think of it as the American Medical Association verifying that you are a medical doctor. In the Marvel Universe, take a trusted organization such the Avengers to be the certifying body. They could run a basic training/certification program including some professional ethics classes for any potential hero who is interested. The Avengers could easily run some telephone message center for heroes (or the government) to leave messages for each other. Give an option for voicemail box or talk to the Avenger on monitor duty. If a hero wanted to go further and to register as "approved for government work", the hero leaves his identity and contact information with a non-networked Avenger's computer. The information file with the secret IDs is secretly placed in one or more inaccessible location. If no one unauthorized knows where the information is stored, it'll be very difficult to locate. Examples: 1) Blue area of the moon: Inhumans and their enemies and the Watcher's enemies have no desire to learn the information. 2) Asgardian realm: Asgardians don't use computers, don't know what a flash drive is, wouldn't care if they did know, and could care less about secret identities of mortals. 3) Negative zone: They probably don't use computers and don't care about the information. 4) Titan: The people of Titan are highly ethical, have few enemies, and don't care about the information. The enemies they do have don't care about secret IDs of earthlings. The only reason for the government to have access to secret IDs and personal contact information which hasn't been voluntarily shared by the hero is if the hero has seriously gone bonkers. If that has happened, the Avengers are probably in the best position to investigate or deal with the situation. Or to be willing to temporarily take the heat from the government for stonewalling on releasing the secret ID. If the Avengers are incapable of dealing with it and they think the hero in question is guilty of something, an Avenger can be given the encryption key, go retrieve the information and release it to the government. The technique could be easily adapted to less exotic locales. With some advanced technology, I could bury a flash drive 20' down in my father-in-law's neighbor's backyard without anyone knowing or ever finding it. And no one would ever think to ask me about the location since I'm a NPC rather than an Avenger.
  5. Re: House rules for Comliness - critique, please So instead of looking at a number which is printed on my copy of the character sheet, I need to memorize a table?
  6. Re: Any suggestions for an intercom? You could skip the intercom and buy a follower/butler for the base to run from room to room to pass handwritten messages. For 11 points you could get him some pretty spiffy powers or abilities. EB (OAF lightning gun -1) 16 charges (only in butler ID -1/4) (not usable underwater so stay away from the pool and decorative fountains -1/4) or Precognition (only usable to know when its time to fix a platter of sandwiches to munch on -2) You of course need to discuss this and other options during your next gaming session and see if the GM picks up on how ridiculous it is to charge points for a speakerphone. Bonus build just in case: Water Fountain - TK (useable only against water already in the pipe -1) (no range -1/2) (only one direction -1/2)
  7. Re: How to build: HKA to flesh No it would not. It would get stopped by any non-living barrier but not do any damage to it. Looks like a straight-forward use of Indirect.
  8. A bit disappointed in the movie but I think he'd make a great guest star in a campaign. Penance Gaze as a NND energy blast, no range. The defense is having no soul, no remorse, no conscience, or being a power gamer. Does his body flames act like real flames ala a damage shield. Or are they just a special effect. I couldn't tell from the movie.
  9. Re: Understand all technology? I had this for a villain Available Technology Warrior. A very nasty skill for a villain who can do things like steal the heroes' gadgets but I don't know how useful it'll be for a hero who has to pay character points for anything useful. Buy it as an enhanced sense with analyze and all the other sense enhancement bonuses except range. That lets him figure out roughly what it is, how its put together, and how to turn it off and on and use it at some minimal level of proficiency. If he wants to be able to strip it down and put it back together, he needs eidetic memory. If he wants to fully understand it or build another one, he'll need eidetic memory (or access to the original) plus either the component parts or the appropriate science skills to manufacture the component parts. How familiar the technology is and how complicated it is will impact how the power works. Guns are easier to figure out how to operate than cars or spaceships. Earth technology is going to be easier than alien technology. The fourth time he sees an alien technology will be easier than his first attempt. Make sure the player understands his ability is a superpower and not a method to abuse the campaign.
  10. Re: I Need A Gadget Dang, my computer timed out and I had to retype my post. I really wasn't copying the above post's ideas.
  11. Re: I Need A Gadget 22 multipower OAF utility belt items (45 active points) 2u Sonic Autoblaster 2d6 energy blast NND (+1) Autofire (+1 1/2) one hex area (+1) (defenses are being deaf, having no ears like if all your audio input is through speakers, or having no internal physical structure like blobs or energy beings) 4m Adamantium Baton - 4d6 Hand Attack no END 4m same Adamantium Baton - Missile deflection 2u Tractor Beam - TK 2u Force Wall - 30 points of force wall that is transparent to energy. That's enough to box in an opponent who doesn't have enhanced strength or for crowd control purposes. Its also enough to set up a strategic retreat since most opponents will find it difficult to move, bring down the force wall, and attack you all in one phase. I also like the idea of a gift from a superhero friend. I suggest the Incredible Multi-Shoes 15 multipower (23 active points) OIF "Incredible Multi-Shoes" 1u Flight 1u running 1u swimming 1u clinging 1u leaping These aren't much different than conventional rocket shoes. But it does give the option of silent movement or "hovering" through the leaping and clinging powers. And the Swimming rate is pretty decent. These together cost out at 56 points though you could cut one of the movement powers to get it down to 55.
