A retcon going back to the end of the original Champions mini-series. He escaped from the Champions by having a Morbane cast a spell on him that changed him into a woman and he hid among DEMON's hostages. The spell had side effects and never completely wore off.

    Ah...

I'm sure this Morbane didn't name himself Jew Stinko or anything silly like that...

...at least let's hope not, unless you actually want to make Rumiko richer then she currently is...

...and the part of his name might be a bit to much, even for a bad pun.

  2. Of course, the majority of this isn't official and us brain storming stuff up, beyond the stuff which actually is official that is. Use my posts with a grain of salt and a pint of beer, sometimes at the lakefront.

On a certain level, I've long thought of Wisconsin as the 'Lovecraft Country' of the Midwest.  We've had an excess of serial killers, plenty of cryptids, and all kinds of Native American sites.  And a plethora of seemingly idyllic small towns... ;)

Well, in the serial killer front we had in the area Ed Griend (Plainsvill) and of course Jeffry Dahmer. The thing is, we tend to not actualy know how many till they get caught.

Also Milwaukee is known as the place black people go to die. This might be because of an Extradimensinal force akin to Pennywise who is affecting the murder rate to the people more open to do in fact murder. It might tie into the cryptoid world in the area.

Pittsburgh was home to a Rubber Duck sculpture in 2013.  The "bathtub" it floated in was the Allegheny River, near PNC Park (the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball Club) and the Roberto Clemente Sixth Street Bridge.

And a perfect target for Foxbat's Master Plan (tm).

Of course Milwaukee is the center of the Cult of the Fonz.  :hail:

Well, I can see a cult of Fennie, with there cat worship and holy song of "High Hopes".

Pittsburgh's Three Rivers Arts Festival is winding down.  (It ends June 9.)  Upcoming, we have the EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta.  Other events include The Great Race, The Pittsburgh Marathon, and the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix (a 10-day festival of car shows and races).

Nice to hear it. If it is summer in Milwaukee and a weekend, there is a lakeside fest over at the lakeside.

The proximity to MC and Chicago could mean there's also overflow and access to the MARS Police Unit stuff MC has. Milwaukee might grumble about getting 'hand me downs' from those two locales, but that's still more up to date police gear than further away places like St. Louis might get, IF that's how you wanted to play it.

Well, I'm sure our police chief would accept such equipment and training. And with MC, Chicago, and St. Louis on the edges with there villains (super or not), they would grugenly welcome such an assist.

The Ophidian plague (Sp) from Sharper Than a Serpent's Tooth might have hit a city known for beer extra hard (Though this maybe an outdated view on my part) allowing you to leave fall out that persists to this day. Maybe COIL still has it's fangs deep into the underbelly of the city or VIPER is rebuilding there yet.

Yes, we are STILL known for our beer. With a bar on almost every corner how could we NOT be known for our beer.

Which would be a perfect place for a loose supervillain group designed like a union. If only there was a better name than Union of the Snake for such a team.

    Members:

Cockatrice (mixer of bird and snake look and poisonous claws, acid poison secreations, poisonous cloud which temporary blind, scails wich resemble bird feathers, no ability to turn people to stone but plays that up by wearing special glasses which do nothing special but the heroes don't know that)

Pit Viper (snake brick which creates an area of darkness which moves with him)

    Black Racer (speedster snake man)

El Q (Hispanic snake brick who can fly and styles himself as a rudo luchidor)

Blindsnake (self taught blind martial artist snake man with 'radar vision')

And of course a few revolving members. King Cobra is interested in the team, but only if they can be controlled by him. If not, then he will destroy them. If CoIL becomes the Union's enimies, the VIPER might swoop in to make them low level members of the Dragon Branch, maybe.

If you like ICON from Cops, Crews, and Cabals that could also have created a vacuum the younger newer organization filled in since 2005.

Sounds doable, if only I know more about them.

With summer here, and we are the City of Festivels, how much longer before a paramilitary criminal orginzation like VIPER hold the lake front hostage during Summerfest?

While not as close, Millennium City (Formerly Detroit) has a LOT more teams and superheros period than Chicago so 'aid' is just as likely to come from there.

Yep. I can see help coming over the great Lakes over than from down south, if needed.

Milwaukee had two unofficial superteams, the original MetaGuard from the 90s (disassembled after The Battle For Detroit in my universe), and the SNN sponcered New MetaGuard

If it IS being used as a vacation spot by villains from the Windy City, that actually sounds like a good hook for PC heroes to assemble there and become something a home guard against same.

And of course a vacation spot for Detroit also. And maybe from the Twin Cities also.

EDIT: And good on the ever lore laden Lord Liaden for getting that Arena info!

I agree on that. I did't even know about the Arena.

  9. While I kinda know the answer, what does the various Champions Universe products says about my home town of Milwaukee Wisconsin, beyond being a 'vacation spot' for supervillains from Chicago?

  10. Nope. If the heroes don't live in Millimumin City or Vibora Bay, they are "city not stated" so they could be located anywhere.

Most villains who are not tied to a city are actually moble, and can appear in any city.

And it sets you free to create any villains which fit the city you wish to use. Los Angeles screams Hispanic villains, evil buisnessmen, slumping Hollywood types, and more.

I like this character a lot.

The writeup is long, but not as complicated as it first seems. Queen Nightmara has a pretty focused set of Powers, it's just that how much of them she can use (especially the Growth) varies by surroundings and circumstance, which leads to a lot of bookkeeping in the writeup. In practice, one would likely keep character sheets for each level of Growth and shuffle between them as needed.

I was inspired by a possessed Queen Beryl. When Beryl was dying she let Queen Metallia possesses her body and she caused it to grow.

No VPP to paper over gaps in writeup! VPPs, now *those* get complicated when you actually sit at the gaming table.

I didn't want the hassle of the VVP.

A surprising amount of world-building implicit in the writeup itself. Like, this is a setting where magical girls have powers/identities based on emotions; and each has a Godstone that is in some way connected to their powers and their lives.

Well, yes. But Godstones don't just represent emotions, they also represent plants, animals, and elements.

I'm impressed. I will not be porting Queen Nightmara whole into my campaign as Queen Nocturna, the big bad enemy for Princess Moonray, but I am learning from the character and writeup. Well done, and thank you.

    Dean Shomshak

    Well, that is the idea.

  12. I have proofread two of Tiger's characters writeups, and I am not free to say who they are, I have to say if he sticks to the template of character #2, he will have a winner in this work.

  13. I'm kinda reminded of Victor Crappie (I know I misspelled the last name) from the Hatchet series of horror films. Victor's entire prelims is that he is a 'solid ghost'. Each night he forms a solid body to kill every human in his corner of the swamp, only to fade away in the morning. Any damage done during the night is healed when he reforms again (special effect if Reserection Regeneration). Probably has EDT triggered during daylight to take him from the Deadlands and back. (Else Invisability and Intangability which automatically turns on during the day and shuts off at night, and can not be turned off during the day).

When dealing with a group of amoral actual scientists, you can't rule out actions by them taken for pure research purposes, just to see what would happen. For example, Teleios created an eight-foot genetically perfect human male and released it into the wilderness with no real or programmed memories, to observe how it would develop without human contact.

And of course Teleios couldn't keep Landsman away from human contact anyways.

  15. What can I say? I'm not surprised that Trump got the guilty verdict. I don't think he will get jail time, but that is probably due to social status than anything.

If Trump becomes president again he will become the Convicted Criminal in Chief. How would that affect his job as President? If he never gets a pardon (doubtful they wouldn't pardon hIm if he gets elected again), how would he do his nation representing duties if he can't leave the country?

Anyways, I'm not happy nor not happy about Trump getting found guilty.
