  1. Only thing with Black Lightning, and I like the show and continue enjoying it, but be ready to be beat over the head with Black Lives Matter PR every episode, as a friend put it. Again, the show is excellent and the people in it are great and it is a message that needs to be done, but just be prepared if you dislike anviliciousness, that this show has it.

I purchased the new season of Doctor Who from Amazon Prime on the ongoing subscription. Two episodes in so far. I like it. Jodie Whittaker could stand to tone down the wacky a bit, but that's been true of several other Doctors (McCoy, for example, was originally written for wackiness and "matured" to become one of the darker Doctors). I like Graham too -- his attempts to pass on wisdom to his step-grandson seem to usually be failing (a lot of resentment in that relationship) and it's very interesting to have a fother-figure in the TARDIS who isn't the Doctor. They seem to be setting up a confrontation with a new alien species (the first tw3o episodes feature that species) and I don't know yet whether there will be an obligatory Dalek story later in the season.

Next episode is about the Civil Rights movement in the American South.

One of the things I like watching her is that you get moments you can see the personalities of the previous doctors pop through, specifically Tennant and Capaldi, but I see some of the older ones.

  3. In the most recent american godzilla film, iirc, they found a giant turtle shell that had obviously been attacked by some other creature, potentially Godzilla.

Dammit, having watched that preview, I want to see that movie. Were the 90s ones where they trapped the Gyros in a giant stadium cause some corporation/military wanted to keep them. Also, first time I ever saw Baragon was in a Gamera movie.

Ghidorah has been a villain in all the movies except one and in that he was a mechanized version that was created by time travelers to stop Godzilla.

no, there was a 2nd one where he was created when Mothra, Baragon and I believe Manda combine to battle Godzilla. They are the guardian monsters in

Xanadu (1980) - Find your Muse, and build a roller disco. One of the two films that inspired the Razzie Awards*, I still enjoy watching it every once in a while. (Netflix DVD)

*The other one was Can't Stop the Music, which featured the Village People and Bruce Jenner.

I liked Xanadu. Probably says to much about me.

  6. My brother laments often that their are probably dozens of guys in the minors who are built like David Eckstein or Jose Altuve, but because they hit 300 instead of 40 HRs in the minors, never get a sniff.

Other problem going on now, maybe for awhile, is that the difference in the pitching level in the AAA to the pro level is so huge now, that you hardly get a feeling for how someone will do unless they are a superstar. How many 320+ hitters in minors come up and can't hit 250 in the pros, especially in this age of specialized pitchers.

I'm not sure how I feel about that. I suppose it depends on execution. But I'm worried for Tom Hiddleston's career. I know Loki is his defining role, extremely popular, and he's great at playing him; but Hiddleston has so much talent, at this point I'd rather see him diversify his roles than be so definitively typecast.

I think they are probably thinking of something along the line of Lucifer for him. Letting him assume many roles using his illusions as disguises, thereby playing many roles and causing mischief for the good of a person. I mean, he is the reason there is an Avengers team to save the earth.

They've had both interconnected and non-connected movies on the slate, so were never as focused on the shared universe thing as Marvel. I think that it was mostly confined to JL. IIRC, they even had two different versions of the Joker slated to come out around the same time.

I'll be happy if Aquaman is as good as its trailers and they pull back from messing with Wonder Woman.

I'd be interested in what was considered non-connected (other then Shazam maybe), since Birds of Prey and Joker both feature characters/actors shown in Suicide Squad and the opening of SS had the Ben Afleck Batman arresting Deadshot and also a post scene with Amanda Waller handing Bruce Wayne a folder on the various supers. So, the DCEU has been Man of Steel followed by BVS where WW appeared before her own movie, before SS had Batman appear, before JL. Again, only Shazam seems to MAYBE be outside the DCEU.

Hmm, maybe Flashpoint type thing in WW will be her showing up to rescue Johnathon Kent during the storm and explaining to a young Clark to never be afraid to help people in need. Then she can go B!tch Slap Batman and say Never Kill, Never use guns they just escalate things and make you a villain.

  9. Hmm, wasn't there a thing about them doing the secret war or something after this? It occurs to me, they could set it up that the "skrulls" who infiltrated did manipulate events to create the Accords, causing, as was said earlier, the dismantling of the one group, that if whole, might have been able to stop Thanos or any other invasion.

I should say, I hate the shapeshifters infiltrating highest level of government storylines. It is why I stopped watching DS9. If their shapeshifting is that good and you can't tell them apart, they have already won.

I know the analytics hate the bunt.  But, last inning for the Brewers would have been a great

Already ahead by 3, Aguilar doubled to lead off, Moustakas intentionally walked.  2 on, no out,  a successful bunt gets you out of a double play situation and 2 men in scoring position with one out.  Even a failed bunt that takes out the lead runner, eliminates the slow-mo Aguilar and gives better basrunning.  So, the brewers PH with Curtis Granderson (or as my Yankee fan dad called him when he was with them Kurtis Granderson).  And well Granderson did his usual Quixotic flailing at windmills.  (the brewers did score a run, but only because Grandal has forgotten how to block a pitch in the dirt*)

*Or as I call it "pull a Posey".  In honor of Buster Posey who in nearly every Giants' game I watch seems to let at least one pitch clank around the ballpark.

Grandad has had a horrible time behind plate. I had thought he was better then this, but I don't follow Dodgers enough. He and their defense, which they don't seem to care about with all the interchangeable players, cost them game 1. It showed kershaw with 4 earned runs, but he made pitches to get out of the bad inning and his team booted the ball around.
