I never could figure out the rules of Bewitched or I dream of Jennie.  And why did Sam change husbands and no one noticed?

They should have used the first episode with Dick Sargent, by having it been Aunt Clara having transformed Darren into something, and due to her messed up magic, he didn't come back exactly the same.

  2. Yeah, but part of my problem, and call it conspiracy theory, is that if it gets to game 7 IN Fenway, I don't trust MLB and the television "powers that be" not to try to interfere in some way (oh look, strikes being called on Houston aren't on Boston, and yes, there have been studies showing that the strike zone for teams like NY and Boston are not the same as their opponents). I would actually say same thing about National series, wanting the Dodgers to get to WS.

It is a real shame given how good it could have been. It's not like the format/medium (Netflix streaming) imposes insurmountable creative challenges on the genre (just look how good Daredevil is), so really there's no excuse for Iron Fist being so underwhelming. Jeff Loeb simply lacked vision for the property, and cancellation was the natural and inevitable result.

Not sure it was lack of vision, as trying to fit, what is really a "mystic" character, into a street level, "realistic" campaign. Sadly, if they had gone into it thinking Hong Kong Wire-Fu, might have been better.

  4. My friend and I often described Babylon 5 as the answer to the PC ST:TNG, and often having endings that seemed very TNG and then having the B5 ending. Deathwalker was probably the best example of this, though the episode with the child who had a genetic disorder that didn't allow it to breathe right and was curable by modern science his parents wouldn't allow was another.

Without getting political, the Sokovia Accords are the will of over 100 countries and enshrined in international law through the UN.

The Accords represent governance and are thus bigger and more important than the Avengers, or any other group of superheroes.

As SHIELD was wound up, the Avengers were the only organisation capable of effective planetary security, in case of another alien attack. Internal tension over the Accords was the reason the Avengers broke up. Tony believed in keeping the Avengers together for its planetary security role, even if it meant submitting to the Accords (really the Avengers had an ultimatum in this regard). Steve was of the opinion that The Avengers worked best with self-governance. Unfortunately for Steve, this wasn't permitted by the Accords, and was considered a breach, and thus made a crime under international law; as it would make The Avengers a rogue organisation (Secret Avengers!).

Personally I believe that if the Avengers had a favourable liaison (to fight their bureaucratic battles), they could keep some level of semi-self-governance and could have survived under the Accords. Ergo, 7+ billion people would still have a planetary security safety net.

    Oh well.

So what your saying is they should have hired Matt Murdoch or Jennifer Walters (would have been a great way to introduce her pre-She-Hulk).

  6. I was just discussing today with someone who I would want to win, as my team isn't in it:

Teams I would like to see win - Brewers, Rockies, Indians (cause been a while for all three if ever)

I don't mind Houston or Braves winning, they both earned their way by being horrendous for a few years.

Let the world end before the Red Sox or Yankees win and please have a survivor camera going in the TV executives rooms when they lose, just for the looks on the faces(I am hoping one team sweeps, then gets killed against Indians or Houston).

I wouldn't mind Dodgers either, I grew up with them and it has been awhile, but more then anything, I really would like to see Kershaw have a great playoffs (last year he was good, but not as good when you look as people give credit, not for a guy who might is in the discussions for best of our generation).

I agree with Badger.  The refusal to use a tiebreaker is a severe penalty, UNLESS it's for the 2nd tiebreaker.  Then you can argue it's needed.  The refusal to use tiebreakers also leads to 3- and 4-game scenarios that become SERIOUSLY confusing, and may need a team to play 2 games to advance to the WC.

Another aspect that I strongly dislike is, these games are counted as regular season games.  Christian Yelich came within 1 swing of winning a triple crown...he'd won the batting title, and was 1 HR and 2 RBI short.  AND he came up, in the game against the Cubs, in a situation to do that.  Nothing against Yelich at all, but it woulda been totally undeserved.  These tiebreak games are *not* "regular season" games, they're playoff games.

Another negative:  Rockies played in Colorado Sunday, then LA Monday, then Chicago Tuesday.  NOT fun, and could have been a lot worse.  OK, it didn't ultimately hurt as they beat the Cubs (YESSS!!!  Chicago can now revert to its normal state...reveling in their teams' failures) but it's not fair.  And the loss of some downtime is nothing to ignore.  Rockies, as it turned out, had 1 rest day since Sept. 7th.  And to a point, that's gonna be more the norm than the rule, because scheduled off days tend to become the rain-out makeup days.

It actually is even worse, unless they have fixed it at some point, which they may have. Back, I think in 1995, Seattle and Anaheim were tied with New York on the final day for 1st/wild card. Because of the way it worked, that meant the Yankees (much to the delight of the channels showing the playoffs, I am sure) automatically qualified as the lone wild card because they don't actually call it a tie breaker, but game 163, which is stupid also as you said, because that means stats count from it for regular season also.

  8. Mike Scioscia announced he is stepping down as Manager of the Angels. Everyone could see this coming, but as an Angel fan, I am somewhat sorry to see him go. He went out with a lot of class, some tears and a few laughs in the press conference. Apparently the next will come from within:

"The Angels have three internal candidates who will likely be in the mix to succeed Scioscia: bench coach Josh Paul, former Tigers manager Brad Ausmus and former Major League third baseman Eric Chavez. Ausmus and Chavez are currently special assistants to general manager Billy Eppler."

Though to be honest, before they decide on anyone, they better have a long conversation with Mike Trout about who he prefers, also maybe Ohtani, because the next manager (and winning hopefully) will go a long way toward keeping Trout in Red.

On a side note, there was a mention earlier about baseball needing to do something about keeping star players in small markets. I think each team should be able to designate 1 or 2(negotiable, maybe 1 position and 1 pitcher) players as a franchise player and have their salary only count half toward luxury tax. Caveat must be that player must have been with team for at least 1 full season (sort of the Bird rule from NBA).

  9. According to IMDB description: A team of young superheroes led by Nightwing (formerly Batman's first Robin) form to combat evil and other perils

So apparently he will be Nightwing.

Also, judging from what I can see, they will be introducing/crossing over with a Doom Patrol series (Titans is in post-production, Doom Patrol in Pre-Production). I see Chief and Elastigirl in the listing.

The tone looks lighter than the first teaser. Looks like Beast Boy will be mostly doing a tiger to save on CGI budget. Still not loving Starfire's wardrobe. Definitely not paying for their streaming service to check it out.

Yeah, but the comment about becoming to much like Batman given what we saw in the other trailer, maybe Dick becomes lighter, but suggests the Batman of the DCU we saw in Batman vs Superman, who brands and kills people.

Beast Boy and Raven look correct and sound decent, but not thrilled with the "you have to be naked" thing, being played for cheap laughs.

Can't say I like anything of what I have seen of Starfire yet.
