  1. Re: Two Campaign Ideas I just read a short story by Mike Stackpole called "Asgard Unlimited" in the book Perchance to Dream and other stories. It fits with this idea. I suggest giving it a read. It was a great story. Lots of idea for gaming. In fact many of the stories were written for specific game systems.
  2. Re: Two Campaign Ideas What jumped out at me in idea #2 was variants C and D. A dark governement conspiracy along with the low level psi abilities. The two could be linked (probably are linked) and the PC's discover there is a connection. The government realizes that someone is snooping around and boom-instant game. And this just gave me the idea of how I am going to get my new Fantasy Hero party together. I love it when working on an idea with someone sparks a whole new idea for your own game! Thanks Just Joe!
  3. This thread could go here or Fantasy Hero, but thought I would put it here since this forum is bigger. I just got a $20 gift certificate to the only store around that stocks HERO stuff. But the question is what book do I buy? I just started a Fantasy Hero game, but there are so many Champions and other books that I want too! I need your help! What should I get? Here is what I have for 5th edition books: Fifth Edition Champions Champions Universe Millenium City CKC Viper Until Ultimate Mystic Fantasy Hero FHGI Hero System Bestiary. USPD Really Want (all of them at some point) Vibro Bay Aracane Adversaries FHGII MMM Turakian Age Valdorian Age I am hoping to start a Champions game too soon, but that isn't for sure. Thoughts? I have to convert some spellcasters this weekend and I know I will be back to your site for that information! Just wanted to let you know that you are appreciated.
  9. I just wanted to thank everyone that has worked on the various conversions of systems to HERO in general, and Fantasy HERO in particular. It looks like I am going to be able to convert my D&D game over to Fantasy Hero. To start I am just going to take our game in Forgotten Realms and convert it to Fantasy Hero. Hopefully I will be able to get them to agree to play in the home grown world soon. Anyway, part of the process was taking their current characters and converting them to Fantasy Hero so that they could see the differences. I especially want to thank Killer Shrike for his FANTASTIC web site which was huge help. Also want to thank the creator of the Forgotten Realms Hero Site (Will M-Don't know if he is on these boards or his screen name). Both have been fantastic in helping me convince my players that this will be doable.! Thanks again for helping making HERO and the HERO fans the best in world.

  11. I am currently running a new campaign using D&D rules. (Ducking thrown dice.) The game is set in the Forgotten Realms setting which I do like, but that isn't the point. The reason I started the game with that system is that most of the players knew it and were willing to play it. Now that we are a few sessions in I am getting more and more discouraged with the system and would like to switch them over to either a FR conversion to Fantasy Hero or to play in my home grown world, Five Realms. A couple of players are okay with it, but the others are hesitant (they are the hard core d20's who own many of the books.) I am looking for advice to get them off d20 and onto HERO. Any suggestions?

    Re: Hex The original plan was to have a different type of agent for each side of the Hexagon. I will have to find my notes on it. I had started to go through the list of employees on the website and determine what their jobs for HEX would be and what agents they would be in charge of.

    Re: Hex In 2002, Darren Watts and Steve Long (along with the Secret Masters) revived the secret organization know as HEX. The mission of HEX is to track, catalog and observe those beings (in this dimension and others) that are considered to be Paranormal is some way. These being may or may not have powers, but their actions put themselves above their peers, in deeds both good and evil HEX does not take sides, rather it just observes and records. Mysteriously HEX also as the ability to see into the world's distant past and far future. But these begs the question, does this set the past and future in stone, or is there still free will for everyone. A team of experts has joined Watts and Long in their quest for knowledge. Some agents work closely with the two. Others, field agents, report back as to what they have learned. And what of the Secret Masters? What is their role in the HEX organzation? Will we ever learn who or what they are? Is Osiris, Fuzzy Guardian of the Universe, really the Secret Master?

    Watching the Teen Titans cartoon awhile ago an idea began to form. The Titans were fighting Brother Blood in the Hive (which just seems wrong, but that is another thread). Of course there were little hex designs all over the wall which made me think of Hero games. I then thought it would be cool to have a good organziation based aroud the hexagon symbol. And thus I throw this idea out for developement to the Herophiles of the boards. I figure we can develop this organzation and anyone can use it in their game if they want. Or it can be just an exercise in creativity. Or a complete bomb if no one thinks it is worthwhile to respond. Next post will start the development

  18. I have a player who wants to build the ability to not be noticed. She specifically doensn't want to be invisible. but rather that she blends in as she moves around . People will see her, but not notice her if that make any sense. Not sure of the best way to build this. + to stealth is one way, but I want to see what others have to say. Thanks!
  19. Re: Five magics I didn't but I will now! How do you do it KS? You make really cool Hero stuff as well as work a real job I am sure. Or maybe you are really independently wealthy and spend all your time creating great things for the rest of us to use!
  20. Re: Five magics I have chosen 4 of the 5 magics, one for each realm. Here they are: 1) Runeforging (thanks Killer Shrike) 2) Naming (from FH) 3) Psionics (all mental based magics) 4) Piedragemas (again Killer Shrike) # 5 is still up in the air. And there is another twist that hadn't been mentioned yet. While each Realm/Plane only has one type of magic and the other 4 don't work on the plane there is one type of magic that works on all planes. Elemental magic. It is the thing that links the planes together. But there are very few Elemental mages 20-30 for the whole world. Once I figure out the final magic I will start posting in a new thread the design of the world for everyone's perusal. By all means don't stop talking about the ideas that have started here though. I still have one more to pick and I love the ideas and creativity of this thread! Keep posting!
  21. Re: Five magics Very true. And if the world had real gods that is most likely how I would run things. But in this land there may be religions, but no gods that grant powers or spell casting abilities. I have no doubt there will be some religions, but any spell casting will come from the magics that already exist. And Small Gods is an excelletn book, but then most of Pratchett's books are great!
  22. Re: Five magics There are no divine magic clerics per se. Any religions that are developed may have mages in them that can do magic, but it is not from a Divine source. (That just makes me picture a god in his realm, realizes that the divine magic generator is running low on power so he runs out and gets "EverDivine" or "Divinergizer" batteries, rushes home and replaces them (and yes I know those names were really really bad!)) This whole world is really starting to come together in my head. Thanks again everyone! Killer Shrike, mind if I PM or email you with some questions about your magic systems sometime this weekend?

  24. Re: Five magics Very true Nyarth. But I am also looking for it from a writing perspective as well as a game one. From the game perspective there will be bonuses if certain types of magic (based on sfx most likely) are cast in certain areas. It will also determine what type of magic the player is better at. This may be bigger VPP or better skill roll. I'm not that far into it yet. The world will start with stories and then develop into the game world.
