VRabubo
Anyone know where I can find some good examples or advice on how to build computers and bases? So far I've copied the things I like off of the template in the Champions Complete book, but I found it very lacking in details and advice. Especially when building for the modern world computers seem extremely expensive. I'm also trying to build a base and may build a vehicle some day, so advice on those would help too. steriaca
In 6ed, I don't think they did much examples of such things. Try 5ed.
Spence
So Champions Complete covers basic Computers, Bases and Vehicles in 4 pages. Hero System Sixth Edition Vol 2 gives you: 3 pages for Computers 12 pages for Vehicles and Bases combined. Either will give you enough information when you get used to the system. As has been mentioned, there are some 5th edition resources that are better. The Ultimate Base (258 pages on Base design and building) The Ultimate Vehicle (231 pages on Vehicle design and building) Hero System Vehicle Sourcebook (157 pages covering 140 sample vehicles) While there will be some minor changes, Bases and Vehicles didn't really change too much. There really isn't a lot on Computers, but some of the Starhero books have a few pages here or there. There are a lot of examples spread throughout the various books and many of the base and starship write-ups include on board computers. Duke Bushido
Those things that spring immediately to mind are going to depend on what you mean by "good advice." If you are looking for the rules, the 5th edition book "The Ultimate Base" has the most modern rules set (by default, the "current" rules) and loads of sidebar discussions and ideas on how the rules may be applied or tweaked to get what you're looking for. If you have that book, and are looking for something more along a primer to what is a pretty word- and idea- dense tome, I would recommend the first incarnation of the base rules as presented in Champions II, available in PDF from the store on this site. If you just want to build a base and are looking for ideas or need some help realizing something that is stuck in your head, the board is probably the highest-population player-to-player and GM-to-GM discussion density of any place on the web. Feel free to post questions here, and so long as the don't require posting long excerpts of the copyrighted rules, well-- there seems to be nothing HERO fans like more than building stuff. Yep. If you ask a specific how would you build X here or in Hero General Rules forum you will not lack with responses. But I would make a recommendation in order to make the responses more relevant. The more detail of what you are trying to do as well as what you are trying to avoid will really help.
