Narnia & Middle Earth are more realistic. Come by way of Canada. Assuming it hasn't all burned up and the smoke settled south of the 49th Parallel. Bazza
49th Parallel? I've seen that film. Great film.
Cancer
Haven't seen the movie, but I've been to the location. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peace_Arch#/media/File%3APeacearch-usside.jpg

Bazza
Peace A-Chord works for both geometry & music. Liberal Arts comes through again. Old Man
Cancer
Which is right and proper, as both have grounding in mathematics.
Bazza
Well Maths is one of the liberal arts. Ditto harmonics & geometry. Add astronomy and you have the quadrivium. but im sure you knew that.
Cancer
Yup. My colleagues over in liberal arts occasionally need reminders, though.
L. Marcus
Art is nice, but I prefer music.
Pariah
As do I. I took an Art History class in college (and pulled an A-) but I still can't tell a Manet from a Monet. My favorite visual artist is Escher, followed by Jack Kirby. Lady P is much more into the visual art, especially painting. She particularly likes the works of John Constable. Cancer
Having never had an art class since some create-stuff classes back in junior high, my appreciation for art is more or less completely uninformed and dates to the two quarters where my job was guard at an art gallery. Having to look at the same stuff four days a week for a month at a stretch forces you to look at it and think about it, but you learn very little about art history that way and how it correlates to what else was going on in the world at the time the piece was created. Pariah
For example, Guernica.
Cancer
Yeah, though there was nothing so famous as that in the collections that I got to guard, of course. My grasp of some parts of history is good, but there are broad swaths of it where I couldn't tell you where it was, what sort of people were involved, etc., and if the relevant art stuff doesn't overlap with my interests and biases about tech, cultures, etc., then ... forget it. E.g., I know the Nok culture was somewhere in sub-saharan Africa and they made some interesting sculpture, but that is literally all I know. L. Marcus
One has to be cautious, dealing with those kinds of artefacts. They can easily be just Nok-offs. Sorry! Sorry. Sorry ...
Bazza
or maybe they are Nok nick-nacks

Cancer
Y'know, today would go easier if I could have Novocaine at the start of my committee meeting in an hour and the fantasy football draft in the evening as well as at the start of my dental appointment in the afternoon. L. Marcus
Just don't re-enact the mutiny on the 'Caine.
Cancer
Happily, installation of the crown was quick and required no Novocaine, so zero risk of mutiny.

Cancer
That would be telling. But there are other alternatives, the most interesting being the emergency backup time travel unit the guy had in Dinosaur Beach. Even if in the story he uses the one in the dead alternate version of himself.
