Longest Running Thread EVER

Daughter got five sphinx moth caterpillars some six-eight weeks back.  (They sell them as food for other pets.)  She fed them, two or three of them survived to pupate.

 

One emerged from the cocoon last night/wee hours of this morning.  While munching my cold cereal at quarter to 6 this morning, there was an odd noise in a corner of the dining room where the cocoons had been put presumably to winter over, and one moth was buzzing its not-fully-deployed wings.  Kind of late in the season to be letting it go, though.

 

EDIT: One of these guys, I think.

You live in western Washington state. That's hardly surprising.

 

Here in the City of Salt, we had more precipitation in October than we did in June, July, August, and September combined. Actually, we had more precipitation in the first four days of October.
