teh bunneh
I'm planning to run a Teen Titans GO! game for my next Legion of Heroes demo. Any advice/suggestions on the characters would be greatly appreciated! These characters are supposed to be from roughly the end of Season Three/beginning of Season Four (just after Titans East formed), so they've got a few XPs under their belts. They're built on 150 points plus 105 disads plus 20 XP, 50 active points max, 15-20 Def. First up is the team leader, Robin... I almost forgot to mention -- I know that Robin should have martial arts, but I thought that might be a little too complicated for a Demo game. Supreme Serpent
Re: Teen Titans GO! for review At first glance, my main concern is durability. Robin's going to be Stunned by an average attack (looks like 10d6), and both of them would go down pretty quickly. I'd suggest bumping Robin's CON up to around 18-20, and/or make his "dodge armor" 10/10. I'd probably also give everyone extra STUN, to help them last longer, as going down quick can be a real bummer, especially if this is meant to introduce people to the game. Good luck with the demo! Savinien
Re: Teen Titans GO! for review You could add an entangle to Robin's multi-power. I've seen that in a few episodes. Maybe Stretching or TK for Cyborg to represent him firing his hand for some long distance action. Feel free to add as many points as you feel comfortable dealing with. It is all relative after all. And, IMO, you'd want to have the game mechanics down for everything the players might think their familiar/favorite characters can do. Supreme Serpent
Re: Teen Titans GO! for review Leaving Beast Boy out is probably a good idea. Whoever took Beast Boy also almost captured him, and he came to the Titans for help. Yeah, Aqualad is another good choice. Maybe Speedy, though his power set is really similar to Robin's. I don't think I want to do Mas y Menos. They'd be fun, but they only seem to speak Spanish... I've already got an idea for the scenario: The Hive Five are back in town, and this time... they're the good guys? But I might just steal your idea if/when I do this again. CrosshairCollie
Re: Teen Titans GO! for review I can't recall which episodes I saw it in, but I know I've seen some that indicate that Starfire is stronger than Cyborg. The scene in question had Cyborg struggling and straining to lift a weight with both hands, and Starfire was holding the same weight up one-handed very nonchalantly. For Robin's martial arts, you could go for the direct '+d6 Hand to Hand Attack' approach, if you don't want to fuss with Martial Arts themselves. That might get a little nasty with his Quarterstaff damage as well, though. I wouldn't call Speedy's power set similar to Robin's, really. They're both gadgeteer/weapon-users, admittedly, but I don't see a bow-and-arrow as being that similar to Rob's utility belt ... add to that Robin's detective skills and hand-to-hand buttwhuppin', I think he and Speedy would be different enough that they wouldn't be clones. Batman and Green Arrow never seemed that alike to me, so by comparison, their sidekick clones probably won't.
gojira
Re: Teen Titans GO! for review Good right ups, this should be a fun game! One thing I notice is Robin's utility belt is OAF. Should it be OIF? He doesn't seem to lose it very often. Also, you basically have Starfire is an alien and unfamiliar with Earth culture down twice. A few of the other Psych Lims (Cyborg hates his body...well, this doesn't really effect play; Raven loses control of her emotions and powers... well, not often and usually only as a plot device) seem a little much. I'd reduce them to quirks, unless you have some special game play in mind and are gonna make the players roll for those Psych Lims. Other than that, seems like fun! P.S. If it was me, Aqualad and Speedy would be good choices for additonal players. Maybe Gadget as well. Bumblebee and Tara would be good if you have an additonal girl who wants a female character. If you can't use Tara, hmm, maybe Aqualad has an Atlantean sister would would like to show up.
Guest WhammeWhamme
Re: Teen Titans GO! for review SPOILERS ... Terra's a great choice and I'd love to include her, but she's not around anymore as of the end of season two. I guess for a Demo it wouldn't much matter, but still... ... Bill. Hey. It's reversible (hopefully). Why not? Make it temporary if you really want to tug at the players... And M&M are the _best_ characters ever. Have them on hand - and make sure it only goes to someone who is willing to not talk, but will be emotive. (or have them been taking english lessons, just not be very good... c'mon, think of something.)
HeroGM
Re: Teen Titans GO! for review Including Terra involves asking one question. "Is this my game or someone elses?" If it's your game, then include her if you want. Comics don't always go in continuity, that's how you have Batman and Wolverine in 15 different titles a month. You have flashback stories, etc.
Whitewings
Re: Teen Titans GO! for review Starfire has shown that she can survive in open space and travel between stars without need of suit or ship. Some suitably limited Life Support (only in free space would be my suggestion) should be included, along with FTL travel.

Kinda weird.

Cyborg's body hatred is the focus on an entire episode, and allows Brother Blood to temporarily get his hooks into him. Raven's emotion control shapes most of her personality and causes her a great deal of greif outside of her power going wonky every now and again. Psych Lims generally are a plot device, IMO. They don't need to be crippling or constant. How mmany times, in most Four Color games does Code Vs Killing really come up as a major play issue or just an attitude the character has, for example? teh bunneh
Re: Teen Titans GO! for review How did the game go? For some reason I have theme song stuck in my head and would love to hear how it played out. You want to get the theme song really stuck in your head? Go to http://www.titansgo.net/audio.php and download the extended version, in both Japanese and English! I playtested the game with my regular group. It went well -- most everyone had fun (one guy doesn't like playing characters he didn't create himself). I found a couple of holes in my game and a couple places to make the characters better (both easily patched). After I run the official demo (Fri Sep 23) I'll give a full review. Bill.
