WWYCD: Give us your huddled masses.

Yet another group of aliens arrive, technologically superior but with no offensive capability (but enough defensive capability to protect them from anything earth can throw at them) they make the governments of Earth an offer: Technology to remove world hunger, undo all damage to the biosphere that has been caused to it by humanity thus far and allow humanity to continue without harming it any more, and just about anything else that would be required to turn Earth into a Utopia. As part of their benevolent program they will take all humans unable to care for themselves (read those living in poverty), all criminals (including the populations of all detention facilities), and anyone else that the governments of Earth deem 'unacceptable citizens of the new Utopia' into their ships. What will be done with them is never discussed.

Dictators are already publically taking advantage of the opportunity to get rid of 'undesireable elements' and, despite the local government claiming they want nothing to do with this the characters are noticing a drop in the number of minorities, homeless, and people of Middle Eastern origin. They are also having to stop less crimes...

So what would your charatcer do?

Re: WWYCD: Give us your huddled masses.

Soulbarb will of course be suspicious of what the aliens plan to do with all the people they abduct -- which is what's in fact happening to them. There is such thing as human rights, and Soulbarb's pretty sure getting handed over to the aliens without consent is a violation of them. She'll investigate and see if she can uncover evidence indicating whether the government is tacitly condoning the snatching of minorities and the homeless, and if so whether this is occurring at the federal level or only at the local level, or alternatively, whether it's the aliens doing it on their own. On the other hand, what exactly she'll be able to do with the results of her investigation is another matter. About the only thing she can reasonably do is try to bring the results of her investigation to PRIMUS's attention and let them go from there, or if they don't seem interested in dealing with the problem, get the evidence out on the 'net.

Cerulean will want to know what the aliens are doing with the people they take away as well, though his preferred approach to start with, under the circumstances, will be diplomatic. Part of a ruler's responsibilities is to ensure that those under their care are not mistreated, of course, and if they are not going voluntarily, to protect them from abduction. Of course, while he's negotiating, the rest of the team will probably be sneaking aboard the alien vessel and investigating the matter for themselves. If it's unpleasant... unless negotiations can persuade them to stop, they'll have to go. The aliens might be able to withstand earth technology... but not V'han's, so the Spire should stand the team in good stead, and if the aliens don't have any particular magical aptitude then Cerulean will have some surprises in store.

As far as the governments of earth cooperating with these guys goes, he'll let the rest of the team take point on that. Cerulean tries not to get involved in Earth politics.

Starguard -- "I have a very bad feeling about this..."

Dr. Pain -- "Hey, I've got a plan. One of us with the ability to teleport out of anywhere, get yourself a phony ID as a prisoner and sneak up there and see what those little bastards are doing. ... what? *I* can't teleport! Somebody else do this one!"

Baron von Darien -- *somewhere on the alien mothership, a vampire in mist form is lurking, lurking and observing...*

Re: WWYCD: Give us your huddled masses.

Millennium will welcome the aliens, nice to see some with no hostile intent, but will want to know why they want these people.

Cheeta "What?"

Iron Will The usual. [same as the last two scenerios involving aliens, he's a technomage, shoud be able to get around both tech and magic anti-clairsentience. Explore the ship, find out what they are doing with the people, reverse engineer their technology, and reprogram their self destruct mechanisms so he can detonate them later.] Considers changing his name to Iron Eye.

Snow Leopard Sneek onboard one of their ships, find out what they're up to.

Dolphin Torn. Very, very much wants the technology to "undo all damage to the biosphere that has been caused to it by humanity thus far and allow humanity to continue without harming it any more." But obviously whatever they want humans for is something that they do not expect anyone to volunteer for. Will talk to the aliens, will be prepared to volunteer to go with them if theywell agree to give the technology and not remove anyone from Earth against their will.

Re: WWYCD: Give us your huddled masses.

Blaze, refers to the Standard FAQ of Cosmic Lords: Any alien promising Utopia in exchange for population, wealth,or resources is just looking to conquer you, or eat you. No matter what their master plan is, it usually winds up being a cookbook. He zips to the edge of thew Solar System, turns off the "aliens wanted to reform Earth society" sign someone turned on recently leading to all sorts of Alien word fixer-uppers visiting, and then gets ready to go to work.

Observation one, to reveal the aliens real agenda. If you can create Utopia, then no one has to leave. And by the way Aliens, deliver Utopia up front please first, or leave. (A demand for services before payment usually stymies con artists, human or otherwise)

Note 2: the UN should accept any of those turned out by dictatorships as refugees, exempting them from being taken. After all, the aliens are promising Utopia. The Western governments, of course, wont be sending anyone, since it would vilate almost every law that they have. Blaze would be wondering why the Middle East is running out of those of Middle ERastern descent, since, again, the democratic nations would be getting rid of no one invoulntarily. If some idiots wanted to volunteer to be alien fodder, Blaze wouldn't stop them as long as he felt they were competent, and adequately warned they were likely to become slaves, a living buffet, or reractor shielding.

An investigation would be launched into any abnormal missing persons reports. If the government is secretly violating its laws to round up and dump people, they will suffer the consequences. If the Aliens are doing it...Blaze gets to have lots of fun.

Hornet shakes his head, as he's getting pretty tired of Aliens as well. He'll question the aliens as to their methods, requirements, and the seeming paradox of why they can provide Utopia, but only to a limited population. He'll also ask what other civilizations have they visited. He'll work with the team to monitor sudden transfers of the population, and bring to whatever level of attention as needed the unlawful deportation of human beings.

Schaister, master con artists, will infiltrate the negotiations. Troublesome folks to be removed..well, how about all of those oppressive Dictators and terrorists? A nice catch 22 would be the suggestion that the leadership of any government thats starts deporting its citizenry is declared by another government to ber part of the undesired population.

Ah, a politician free world..now, about Utopia. Being an expert on wealth, Schaister offers his views on the proper distribution.........

(ok, I'll say again, Schaister isn't always very nice. Thankfully, his unluck when it comes to keeping material gain should stop him again)

Re: WWYCD: Give us your huddled masses.

By "offer" is this an "Or Else" situation?

Either way, I don't see any character I have thinking that these actions will come to any good.

Uncle Slam would demand "references". This can't be the first time they've offered such a thing. If they have, he'd dispatch the campaign's one known earthborn star traveler to investigate. Assuming their FTL is good enough to get them there and back in our lifetime, we'd know the truth. Otherwise, I don't see it happening.

Re: WWYCD: Give us your huddled masses.

Yeah, I'd have to know what those of us with alien ancestry might know about them before I can say what applies

But I'm guessing Badger wouldnt like the taking people without consent or knowledge of their future fate. Then again his alien heritage have made him an outcast/freak in people's opinions, so he might be taken. So he has an interest in knowing their fate. Though if the aliens have no offensive capabilities he isnt likely to be taken. He wouldnt exactly volunteer to be taken.

Re: WWYCD: Give us your huddled masses.

Question. What would those of us with knowledge of alien races know about these ships/aliens?

For the sake of argument:

There have been rumors of these aliens (who have never been encountered or even seen (they produce an image of the ruling race (mulato humans in this case) to conduct negotiations) visiting other planets. Some planetary governments have declined and the aliens have left them 'to destroy their own world', sometimes only certain governments will agree to which the aliens say 'you are one planet all must agree' and the planet either does or does not, and sometimes the planet agrees.

In the latter case the aliens make the swap, the planet becomes a Utopia for a time before the remaining people destroy it through war and greed, the people become weak enough for another alien race (different each time (closest usually) to invade (Utopia doesn't breed warriors) or the decreased breeding stock on the planet leads to the race dying out.

There is no confirmed reports of any Utopia continuing indefinately, and no reports from these aliens as to their attitude to the matter.

Well, of course, The World's Greatest Super Team will be involved in the negotiations at some point. Boomerang ensures that Bleep the Space Monkey is noticed by the aliens.

After all, a world where Space Monkeys are kept as pets is not a world to be messed with...
