EvilDrPuma
Holy giant hydrocarbon lakes, Batman! Now if we can just make up a good enough story about WMDs on Titan, we can be there by Christmas.

Just mention the LAKES OF PETROCHEMICALS on Titan's surface, and Dubya can take it from there! (And I voted for the @#$^^&$$#@!!! TWICE!) EvilDrPuma
Re: Latest Titanic Discovery!! I believe that one of the 2001 space odyssey books mentions life in the seas of Titan. That was in 2010, except that it was Europa.
McCoy
Re: Latest Titanic Discovery!! That was in 2010' date=' [/i']except that it was Europa. But an earlier Clarke novel, The Sands of Mars, included a flashback about a crewed mission to Saturn in an atomic powered rocket that "refuled" (propellent) with methane from Titan. Cancer
Re: Latest Titanic Discovery!! The images and some accompanying links and information. These are greyscale radar images; the black areas (which have approximately no returning radio signal) are the purported lakes. Very smooth surfaces (and "smooth" means on the scale of the radar wavelength; for the Cassini mapper, which uses a 13.78 GHz aperture synthesis radar, that's about 2 cm) return very little signal. Surfaces which are rough on that scale would be quite bright; so would surfaces which are fractured with lots of right-angle-shaped features which are no smaller than a couple times the wavelength.
