Re: Around the World With A New Character Each Week

I've given you Rep already, Tribe, but I felt the need to expound at more length on what a good idea this project is and what tremendous job you're doing with it...hence this post.

Tribe, thank-you for creating internationally-themed metanormal characters who are something more than comicbook cultural clichés of each nation. Thanks for creating realistic, mature and convincingly foreign characters who actually do seem like natives of their countries of origin!

I am awed by the amount of research and background development that's gone into each character so far, to say nothing of the actual narrative and write-up. It's a massive undertaking -- albeit one that's been desperately needed by the comicbook/gaming communities -- and I'm very impressed by the work you're doing on it.

Thank-you.

Re: Around the World With A New Character Each Week

Wow, thanks for the compliments Haven Walkur. I have to admit though that there are a few stereotypes in the characters so far - something I'm a little embarrassed about! :(

And the project is supposed to be a springboard for further development of these characters so I hope people out there use them if they can.

Originally I planned to do a Character a Week based on the alphabet - week one would have been A, week two B and so on. I'm glad I went with this challenge. It's been great fun.

Thanks again for the rep and more importantly your comments.

Cheers

Ben

#41 MALKIN (Costa Rica)

malkin.jpg

MALKIN

Stefanie Ariza

Character Sheet (HTM)

Background

As a laboratory assistant to Dr Santos Verdacia, Stefanie Ariza was involved in a top secret joint scientific programme between the United States and Argentina called 'Soul Harvest'. The dubious nature of the investigation led the scientific team to locate their base of research in San Jose where America had influence and the research team were able to operate without fear of being interrupted or questioned. Ariza was brought in by one of the Argentinean scientists renowned for his surgical work on uberhumans. Verdacia had been barred from practice because of his cavalier attitude which resulted in several uber deaths and he was under investigation by Southern Cross International for breaches of the ethic code when dealing with uberhumans.

Ariza had no knowledge of the unsavory nature of her mentor, nor the research team's goal of developing a weapon to drain the humanity from a person leaving behind nothing but a husk, an automaton which could be used as literal cannon fodder by the US Armed Forces.

So it was ironic that Ariza was the one who stumbled across a way to modulate brainwaves in such a way as to erase all higher order thinking. Using a combination of chemical and radiation treatment the team was able to transform a test subject into one of their soulless automatons. While feeling initially uneasy about her discovery and the resulting transformation, [name] was furious when Verdacia took the credit in front of the Board of Directors. She protested loudly but was quickly escorted away and held in one of the science labs.

Verdacia smoothed over the situation with his superiors and then confronted Ariza. He threatened her with violence but her own anger surpassed his and as he lifted his hand against her, she grabbed him and slammed him down on to a bench knocking him unconscious. Ariza was still furious and dragged the unconscious Verdacia towards one of the containment tubes. It was a gigantic task but she managed to slump him into the tube and begin the 'Soul Harvest' process.

When a security team discovered Verdacia's body in the morning he was a mindless automaton staring blindly ahead. There was no sign of Ariza. She had fled with scientific equipment and an appetite for retribution. She set up her own laboratory on the outskirts of San Jose and decided to destroy her former employers.

This mission continues today. The original front company, Tomorrow Industries, has gone legitimate and no longer has ties to Argentina although it does continue to have some dealings with the US military. Now known as Malkin, Stefanie Ariza has developed her original theories and is determined to find ways to rob people of their intellect, adding it to her own.

Personality

Originally the woman who would become Malkin was a reserved and studious grad student, but since finding herself robbed of professional recognition and threatened, she has become more assertive (in her mind) and aggressive (in the mind's of others). She has pursued her theories with abandon, often using herself as a test subject in experiments designed to transfer knowledge and higher order thinking. Her frequent experiments have damaged her brain, making her neurotic and totally unpredictable.

Quote

"Crazy is as crazy does. Don't we kill the ones we loves?

Come closer, don't be afraid. Memories quickly tire and fade."

Powers

Malkin was quite bright before she began tampering with her brain, but since regularly experimenting with ways to increase her own brain capacity she has become a genius, although her intelligence is as erratic as her personality.

She has access to laboratories and her experiments often relate to the modification of higher order thinking. She has mastered the ability to rob people of their humanity reducing them to automatons, but more recently she has begun focusing on herself rather than others.

While she is fond of using automatons to help protect her, when forced into combat Malkin has shown considerable skill, often fighting with staffs or scythes. One of her personal favorites is a metal scythe she had designed which includes a limited propulsion system allowing her to vault long distances, often escaping the law.

Appearance

Malkin is a tall, but skinny goth. She wears black mascara around her eyes and has dyed black hair which is often unruly. She wears a lab coat most times, underneath which she wears shapeless black clothing. When expecting trouble she can be found holding a specially-designed staff with a scythe blade.

#42 THE LEGION (Cote d'Ivoire)

legion.jpg

THE LEGION

Team Sheet (HTM)

Background

Originally a regiment within the French Foreign Legion, after fighting against France during Algeria's Independence, the regiment was disbanded and hunted down. Rather than wait for their capture, the Legion continued its operation within Africa, eventually gaining haven in the newly created state of Azambia.

The Legion gradually began to change in the 1990s under the leadership (and scalpel) of Dr Assamoua, aka Revenant. When the soldiers were injured, they were 'remodelled' as cyborgs. The Legion became known as professional and hardy soldiers. When the Legion left Azambia they met with a series of unfortunate defeats across the globe, particularly in Indonesia and south-east Asia. Their membership dwindled and Assamoua found himself rising in rank as his superiors died around him. He decided to wrest control and took the Legion back to Cote d'Ivoire where he established a hidden base of operations, including a sophisticated medical facility.

From his new haven, Assamoua made an alliance with the Italian crime lord, Remus, although this alliance resulted in a loss of resources for the Legion. After Remus was nearly destroyed, Assamoua found himself with several of Remus' former employees on his doorstep. Rather than regular soldiers, these were ubers, and from that day the Legion has been changed yet again.

Medusa has taken control of the team, although Assamoua still retains his position as chief surgeon and cybernetic expert. The team now accepts assignments across the globe according to Medusa's personal view of justice.

Area of Operations

The Legion accepts assignments from across the globe, although most of its work is conducted in Africa and Europe.

Goals

The Legion is a mercenary group, so money is the number one priority; although most of the members have their own agendas. Most of the team have survived manipulation and so they may accept missions where they feel they are fighting against oppression. While they feel betrayed by Remus, since his revival, Remus has made use of their services and Medusa has made sure that her team holds no lasting grudge.

Reputation

The Legion has undergone several phases of reputation. In the beginning they were known as a rebel band of Legionnaires: soldiers who were on the run from the French and willing to do anything for money. After coming under the protection of Azambia and its Witch Doctor, the Legion began experimenting on itself in the field of cybernetics and became known as ruthless machine killers. Since Medusa and the other ubers joined the team, the Legion has become more versatile and while they still maintain a strong sense of the cyborg, they also consist of powerful ubers (some of which have their own reputations as killers and mercenaries).

Notes

This team is made up from a lot of the old enemies from my Dawnstars game. Cote d'Ivoire gave me the base of operations for these 'baddies' including some of the most hated (despised) characters from my campaign - although I really like them.

Their newest incarnation is obviously influenced by the Reavers of X-Men fame. The Reavers were the first villains I got to know, apart from the Goblin Queen and all that Inferno stuff. That's the era I began reading comics. Ah, memories...

#42 TRIUNE (Cote d'Ivoire)

triune.jpg

TRIUNE

Jeanne Rousseau

Character Sheet (HTM)

Background

Hilary and her two sisters, Jeanne and Rachel, grew up in luxury on the island of New Caledonia. Her parents were industrialists, rumoured to be involved in illegal arms deals in West Africa, but they were never brought to account. When the girls were ten, masked men invaded their home and took them away. For several weeks the girls were bound and gagged, and kept hidden in darkness, with only themselves for comfort. It was during this time that their mind link fully activated, allowing them to soothe each other in the darkness.

They had been taken by agents of Remus, who had identified the girls as suitable test subjects for his DIYUbergene Project which sought to isolate and control the ubergene for commercial purposes. The girls were sent to Spain and began a series of arduous and invasive tests. The tests activated the girls' teleportation power which ended in near-death when the girls misplaced a 'port. Their bodies were enmeshed in the walls of their prison and only through the work of cyberneticists were the girls saved. Remus brought in his close friend, Dr Assamoua to conduct the cybernetic operations.

For six years the girls were modified to become cold and lethal assassins. In 2004 they were dispatched to eliminate Aeolus of the Dawnstars and succeeded, although Jeanne was incarcerated by British police. Later Triune were involved in another battle with the Dawnstars where Rachel was destroyed, leaving Hilary alone as Remus' Empire was dismantled seemingly overnight.

Hilary later learned that Jeanne had been destroyed by MI5 and returned to Africa with Medusa where she came into the company of Dr Assamoua, who know called himself Revenant. Hilary allowed herself to be 'upgraded' and willingly joined his Legion knowing that a close partnership with the genius was a way to prolong her life. She also hoped that one day she would convince Assamoua to rebuild her sisters.

Personality

Hilary has survived a torturous adolescence, the subject of monstrous experimentations and invasive cybernetic surgery. She no longer considers herself to be human, but doesn't feel cheated. She is cold and professional, doing what she was paid to do, but no more. Since losing both her sisters Hilary no longer feels any connection with humans at all, something which she has become accustomed to, although her team mates are still surprised at some of her behaviour.

Quote

Quote: "Human bodies are like toys: to be discarded when they no longer serve a use."

Quote About Her: "Beautiful Killer Robot Woman." - Casper Jay, aka Paladin of the Dawnstars

Powers

Triune was a teleporter, but due to an accident early in her life she was converted into a cyborg. Her physical strength has been augmented, as has her neurological pathways and regenerative capabilities. She has enhanced senses and an armoured body.

When her sisters were alive she could maintain a mindlink with them which made them quite excellent assassins.

Appearance

Triune is a beautiful woman who was converted into a cyborg. Her cybernetic parts are covered by synthetic skin grafts, but these are shredded easily in battle. She has short cropped bleached hair, olive skin and dark brown eyes which have a metallic sheen. Her left forearm includes an in-built holster for her machine pistol and she carries her knives in scabbards on her belt.

Like all members of Legion, Triune wears a highly resistant black body armour with dark grey pads on the legs, shoulders, boots and gloves. Her mask has a stylised skull motif with green eyes (infrared visor), and this symbol is repeated on the shoulder pads. There is a Legion symbol on the left side of her chest: a lightning-like 'L' in yellow.

Notes

Triune is the last of assassin triplets.

#42 TOHUBOHU (Cote d'Ivoire)

tohubohu.jpg

TOHUBOHU

Levi Rosier

Character Sheet (HTM)

Background

Levi Rosier joined the French Army when he was eighteen and was involved in the United Nations peacekeeping campaign in the Balkans. During time under gunfire, Levi found himself shocked out of his own body. He could suddenly see the world from within the body of his friend, Francois. During the confusion, Levi's battalion were hit by heavy fire and Levi's body was killed.

For months Levi stayed within the body of his friend, but the strain on his mind and the body of Francois became obvious to all around him. After being discharged from the Army he ended up in hospital. Francois was dying and Levi realised that it was because of the possession. Instead of letting his friend live, Levi held on even tighter. When Francois' body could no longer go on, Levi leapt across into the body of a nurse. He never looked back, but felt hounded so much that he left France and headed to the Middle East where he hoped to find some peace amongst the warring Israelis.

Once in Israel Levi took a chance and approached the government, pleading with them to help him regain his body. The hero-scientist Solomon Bloom was brought in to assist. Bloom created a power suit which would contain Levi's energy and thus release his need to live within other people.

Levi was embraced by Israel and became the hero Tohubohu, a short-time member of Cabala.

Even though he had discovered a way to live without a physical body, Levi still longed for a real body. He became obsessed with the other people around him, and routinely jumped into their bodies to experience what they experienced. This behaviour was initially tolerated, or ignored, but Levi's obsession grew to such an extent that he was expelled from the Cabala and from Israel itself.

Still keeping the name Tohubohu, Levi found himself within the ranks of the French Foreign Legion, although he kept his nature secret. During one campaign in Northern Africa, Levi possessed the body of one of his opponents and was surprised to discover that the person was not fully human. The Foreign Legion had been hired to fight against one of their old offshoots, a cyborg battalion of Legionnaires. Levi was horrified and quickly returned to his own body, but not before he caused enough damage to the cyborg to render it senseless. Levi understood that his powers went far beyond the ability to possess other bodies. By lashing out at others he was able to inflict damage and even death.

While this new power excited him, Levi didn't give much thought to his targets. After an hour he had defeated his own battalion and stood by himself in front of the cyborg Legion. The leader, Revenant, extended a welcome to Levi and the young French-Israeli accepted.

Personality

Tohubohu is the Hebrew word for confusion and chaos. Levi has been consumed by his psychic nature which has distanced him from the rest of humanity to such an extent that he cannot remember what it was to be human, while at the same time fuelling his desire to regain such human sensations. He is a monster of pure psychic energy, trapped in a containment suit which keeps him from dissipating forever. While giving the impression of being human, Levi is far from it.

Quote

"It's time to see this from a different set of eyes, ma chere."

Powers

Tohubohu is able to possess the bodies and minds of other humans, although after losing his own body he now relies on a containment suit created by Solomon Bloom in order to continue his existence. The suit is made from an adaptive material which forms around the host body so that whatever body Levi possesses wears the Legion uniform.

In addition to his possession ability, Levi is also able to cause extreme pain through touch. His body is made of energy and resistant to physical attacks, although most energies are still able to affect him.

Appearance

In his natural state, Tohubohu is a crackling purple energy, but through the control of his containment suit, which has been modified to look like Legion armour, he is able to take on the appearance of a human. His form can be stretched and manipulated by his own mind so that he can appear quite unnatural, especially when he strikes - a combination of psychic energy and a dissolving body.

Like all members of Legion, Tohubohu wears a highly resistant black body armour with dark grey pads on the legs, shoulders, boots and gloves. His mask has a stylised skull motif with green eyes (infrared visor), and this symbol is repeated on the shoulder pads. There is a Legion symbol on the left side of his chest: a lightning-like 'L' in yellow.

#42 SALVO (Cote d'Ivoire)

salvo.jpg

SALVO

Evan Salvatore Aristodemos

Character Sheet (HTM)

Background [/b

Born into poverty and quickly smuggled out of Greece by illegal adoption, Evan found himself abandoned in Rome at the age of ten after his new family fled the Carabinieri. He was welcomed into the fraternity of homeless men and shown the other side of society, which he grudgingly accepted as his new life. As a teenager, Evan drew the attention of Remus who knew of the boy's active ubergene. Evan's life was thrust into chaos again when he incinerated a house he was sheltering in, and as he fled, Remus moved in to manipulate the young mutant. Evan followed Remus and was exposed to training and experimentation as a test subject in the DIYUbergene Project.

In 1999 Evan appeared as Torch, infiltrated the Dawnstars base in Venice and went about destroying all lives and property in his reach. The base was destroyed and so were many lives. In the confusion, Evan escaped into the employment of Remus and dropped off the radar for a few years. When he returned he was part of Gauntlet, a motley collection of assassins who had accepted bounties on the heads of former and current Dawnstars. What followed was a series of massacres, culminating in a confrontation between Gauntlet and the Dawnstars in Spain.

Remus was eventually usurped from his criminal throne by an unknown party (probably a combination of TITAN and SUMMIT), who destroyed his network of contacts and institutions across Europe in less than a week. Remus vanished and Torch was left in the custody of Spanish police.

When he was rescued by Medusa he had come to realise that his entire life had been one of manipulation and vowed never to be controlled again. He agreed to work for Medusa and the Legion as long as it was as an equal member, with equal benefits.

Personality

Salvo grew up in poverty and has never forgotten the peasant sensibilities of his brief upbringing. He hoards money, withholds information like a collector of secrets, and has developed a desire to look out for himself first. Since fighting free of Remus' control he has become more of the person he always wanted to be: free and able to do as he pleases. He still has strong memories of his derelict past although he is actively trying to erase all traces of that past and remodel himself as a powerful and dangerous uberhuman mercenary.

Quote

Quote: "Hear the cracklin'?"

Quote About Him: "There's no way that little imbecile could have managed this on his own." - Joca Vanderkooie, aka Valkyrie of the Dawnstars, discussing Torch's apparent success at destroying the original Dawnstars' base.

Powers

Salvo is a (once sadistic) pyrokinetic who enjoys using his powers to cause destruction and injury. He is able to generate intense heat and flames, as well as the ability to absorb and reduce the effects of fires and heat. His body is constantly generating heat and this also provides him with protection from the elements: he is never cold. While his control has increased over the flames he creates, his sadism and raw power has subsided. Salvo is a competent mercenary focusing on control over pure destructive capabilities.

Appearance

Since regaining control of his life, Salvo has become more confident and self-assured and this has had an impact on his appearance. Whereas once he was sickly and nervous, now he appears to be like any other young man, full of bravado and testosterone. He has several piercings and a flame tattoo. His burgeoning confidence has even given him something of a magnetic charm, drawing female attention and affection. Salvo has grown into adulthood in the recent months with the Legion and cast away his mostly neurotic former self.

Like all members of Legion, Salvo wears a highly resistant black body armour with dark grey pads on the legs, shoulders, boots and gloves. His mask has a stylised skull motif with green eyes (infrared visor), and this symbol is repeated on the shoulder pads. There is a Legion symbol on the left side of his chest: a lightning-like 'L' in yellow.

Note

Torch was the young mutant who actually brought the Dawnstars together years ago when I first played the team as part of the Global Guardians Venice Embassy game. He was just a street kid back then with poor hygeine and no social skills, so it's good to see him grow up as Salvo. I've still got, probably, four players who met him when he first began. The Dawnstars team are a great bunch of players - Thanks guys and gals!

#42 REVENANT (Cote d'Ivoire)

revenant.jpg

REVENANT

Dr Jacques Assamoua

Character Sheet (HTM)

Background

Assamoua has led a very shadowy life, although his influence has been felt since the 1970s. Beginning a military career in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, he was soon dissatisfied with the conditions and travelled illegally to Algeria where he volunteered for service in the Legion Etrangere, or the French Foreign Legion. Unfortunately, Assamoua joined the Legion in 1961 and was part of the regiment which sided with Algeria when it fought for independence against the French. Assamoua and the regiment he fought with were discharged and the Legion moved to France for the first time since its founding in 1831.

The disgraced regiment escaped imprisonment and travelled south, deeper into conflict-ridden Africa where they became known as the Legion. Assamoua began to study medicine, particularly in relation to the military. When the Legion were hired by the Witch Hunter during his land grab for the founding of Azambia, Assamoua used the opportunity to forge closer links with the up and coming warlord. The Legion stayed in Azambia for the first few years of establishment and Assamoua attended the university there which made use of like-minded lecturers and specialists who saw the establishment of Azambia as a chance to forge a new future for Africa.

While continuing to fight in conflicts around the world, the Legion also became known for its cybernetic expertise and Assamoua was responsible for innovative cybernetic surgery on such figures as Naga of the Assembly and other people who had been abducted for the purpose of experimentation. He worked closely with the Witch Doctor and drew resources and test subjects from Azambia.

As members of the Legion continued to be killed in far-away conflicts, Assamoua began using his knowledge of cybernetics to rebuild his soldiers, thus creating a cyborg legion. Its membership swelled during the 1990s until it could boast of a force of thirty soldiers. After investing a lot of resources in Remus' ill-fated DIYUbergene Project the Legion was reduced in number, although Assamoua managed to recruit several discontented ubers such as Medusa, Triune, Torch and Armageddon.

This new Legion severed its close ties with Remus and have since operated with a kind of neutrality which roughly translates as 'whoever has the money has our support'. Assamoua has the ear of Witch Doctor and still offers him support whenever it is needed, both overt and covert; but otherwise the future of the Legion has been hijacked by Medusa who sees the force as a way to pursue justice while also lining their pockets. Surprisingly, Assamoua has not appeared to resent Medusa's rise to power and has spent more and more of his time researching advanced cybernetics.

Personality

Assamoua has become more and more engrossed with the possibilities of cybernetics and after mostly moving away from using test subjects he spends a lot of his time working on his own body, most of which is now artificial. He prides himself on his detached morality, not allowing 'human feelings' to invade his precise decision making capabilities. He prefers his own company to that of other people and often appears uncomfortable in the company of 'biologicals'.

Quote

"I can see the potential in you. What, with a few modifications, you could be perfect."

Powers

Revenant is almost entirely machine, the result of a series of cybernetic operations over more than a decade. His arms are his most obvious modification and are able to rend most metals and, obviously, flesh and bone. His biological systems have been augmented through cybernetics granting him extraordinary physical and mental attributes, although these modifications have also resulted in giving him a susceptibility to electrical-based attacks which tend to drain his mental processing ability.

Appearance

Revenant does not look human. Beyond his obvious cyborg arms, there is something unnatural about the way he moves. Even when unmoving, his body takes on a monstrous stance. Underneath his Legion costume, Revenant's body is mostly metal and exposed wiring. While he has, in the past, managed to produce synthetic skin-like material, he no longer feels the need to hide himself behind 'biological' cloth.

Like all members of Legion, Revenant wears a highly resistant black body armour with dark grey pads on the legs, shoulders, boots and gloves. His mask has a stylised skull motif with green eyes (infrared visor), and this symbol is repeated on the shoulder pads. There is a Legion symbol on the left side of his chest: a lightning-like 'L' in yellow.

#42 DELATUS (Cote d'Ivoire)

delatus.jpg

DELATUS

Patrizio Sismondo

Character Sheet (HTM)

Background

Patrizio Sismondo was the eldest of five children and after his father ran away with his mistress, it was up to Patrizio to maintain his family's lifestyle. He left school and focused his energy on work. Unfortunately, working in a tailor's shop was not exciting enough for the young Sismondo and he soon began working for the local mafia, assisting with collections and later as a stand-over man. By the time his younger sister Diamante became a famous scientist, Patrizio had enmeshed himself within the crime families of Naples. He maintained a close relationship with his family and secured their futures, but in exchange he had spent time in prison and was constantly on the run from rival families.

When Diamante was killed Patrizio was in prison, but through a series of manipulative rumours he heard of her demise and blamed her death of the famous Neanderthal scientist, Professor Grak. While he waited for his release, Sismondo began to plan his revenge. Grak was an impossible target - a cave man in the modern world. At first Sismondo thought he would simply shoot the cave man in the back of the head, but then he began receiving messages from a mysterious woman who offered him more insightful ways to seek revenge.

The mysterious woman was Medusa, a former Dawnstar, who also sought Grak's death. Upon his early release (thanks to political maneuverings from Remus) Sismondo was met by Medusa, who refused to mention her name, and given a high tech laser with which to penetrate Grak's cold energy field and kill him.

Sismondo found Grak in London and struck. In the heated melee which followed, Sismondo's weapon backfired and vaporised his entire arm and Grak easily captured him. Sismondo was sent back to prison. Everything seemed like such a failure, but then Sismondo's prison van was attacked and Medusa led a rescue team to extract the injured Italian.

Sismondo was taken to Africa where he was given over to Dr Assamoua, a leading expert in cybernetics. While Medusa and her team attacked the Dawnstars, Sismondo was left in the care of the mysterious doctor and underwent a series of experimental operations. At the end of his time with Dr Assamoua, Sismondo had lost most of his human body. It had been replaced with invasive cybernetic systems chief among them being a powerful gauntlet gun on his right forearm.

Rather than be horrified, Sismondo saw his transformation as an equaliser. Now he was on the same level as his enemy, Professor Grak the Nordkapp Man.

Personality

Sismondo is a small time crook who was manipulated into attacking Grak. Since being easily defeated, Sismondo has been remodelled into a cyborg warrior, although he still remains a small time crook. He is petty and cruel and looks down at most people, examining them for their faults and weaknesses. The one driving goal in his life is revenge on Grak the Nordkapp Man.

Triune gave him the name Delatus which means the Accuser. Rather than take it as a joke, Sismondo has seen the name as his new vocation in life.

Quote

"Extinction looks good on you, cave man!"

Powers

Delatus has been modified with cybernetics. His physical attributes have been boosted as well as his resistance to injury and extreme temperatures. Through a series of thefts and modification, Delatus has accrued a range of gadgets including a hovercraft disk which he flies on into battle; an anti-freeze ray which he uses chiefly to disable the Nordkapp Man; and a personal force field generator. Delatus' main weapon, however, is his gauntlet gun which is capable of electric charges as well as blinding flares.

Appearance

Tall and wiry with a dangerous look in his eyes, Patrizio Sismondo always looked like a shifty criminal. After his defeat at the hands of Grak, Sismondo's right arm was severed. With the assistance of Revenant Sismondo's body has been rebuilt and remodelled. His missing arm has been replaced with a cybernetic weapon and much of his torso has gradually been replaced with cybernetics as well. In costume he appears mostly human, but when exposed his body is covered in metal and wiring.

Like all members of Legion, Delatus wears a highly resistant black body armour with dark grey pads on the legs, shoulders, boots and gloves. His mask has a stylised skull motif with green eyes (infrared visor), and this symbol is repeated on the shoulder pads. There is a Legion symbol on the left side of his chest: a lightning-like 'L' in yellow.

Notes

Sismondo was a two-bit thug who was sent to kill one of the Player Characters, Grak, but after being so easily and creatively played by Rob Rogers I couldn't help but bring him back.

#42 ARMAGEDDON (Cote d'Ivoire)

armageddon.jpg

ARMAGEDDON

Miguel Donoso

Character Sheet (HTM)

Background

Miguel spent most of his childhood as part of the DIYUbergene Project. He was taken away from his family when he was four years old and subjected to tests in a bid to determine what activated the ubergene in some people (like it did with Miguel) while in other people it remained dormant. Miguel doesn't remember much about his childhood apart from an overwhelming sense of sin and he often recalls nights where he would cry uncontrollably because God was looking down at him with disappointment.

The DIYUbergene Project in Spain was located near Santa Zaragoza and Miguel was often visited by nuns from the surrounding areas. Miguel looked forward to their visits and learned about angels and demons. The visits were carefully orchestrated by the Project's founder, Remus, as a way to tap into Miguel's fear of damnation. The nuns were really actresses employed by Remus and the stories they told were about retribution and the necessity of evil to counter-balance the good of God.

Miguel grew to see himself as a necessary evil.

When he was a young adult he was sent to oppose the Dawnstars who had breached the Project's security perimeter. Enraged that his home was being attacked, and the nuns he loved were in danger, Miguel let loose his pent up rage. His body had been twisted by his own self-loathing so that the stone-like skin which was his uber power actually manifested itself as a horrific stone demon.

He fought a terrible battle against Choir and managed to knock her senseless, but after realising that he had struck a woman of faith he felt immediate remorse and attempted to take her to the sanctuary of the nun's church. With Choir in his arms he searched for hours but could not find the church, slowly realising that the nuns must have been mistaken.

Choir was close to death and Miguel felt her life in his hands. Something happened in that moment, away from the battle. Miguel realised that he could help people and took her towards Barcelona, not caring whether he was seen by the people or not. He took her to a hospital where she recovered from her coma. Miguel was attacked at the hospital but the policemen could not hurt him. He flew into the sky and sought to return to Zaragoza. When he arrived he found his home destroyed.

After only a few weeks of self-exile, Miguel was approached by Medusa and taken to Africa where she promised to help him find redemption. Medusa was actively recruiting all of those ubers who had been manipulated and abandoned by Remus, and she took them to Tunis to protect them and plan her next move.

The next move arrived in the form of the cyborg Revenant, who had also been hurt by Remus' lightning defeat at the hands of unknown enemies and while the Italian crime lord's empire fell apart, Revenant took Medusa and her 'lost ones' under his own protection. They later became part of the Legion and Miguel has been a member ever since, slowly coming to realise the manipulation he had endured under Remus' control.

Personality

Miguel is, at heart, a caring and gentle soul but because of his appearance and the stories he heard as a young child Miguel believes that he is a demon. His role is to bring about evil so that the heroes and good people of the world can find a way to gather strength to oppose him. He was dubbed Armageddon, and in his mind, he believes that he will be responsible for the End of Days.

Of course his team mates often ridicule him for his delusions of grandeur, but none of them have been able to shake the belief in Miguel that he is evil. Fortunately, over the time he has been with Medusa and the Legion, Miguel has learned to control his features slightly so that he now appears more human. This has helped him greatly, and he has sometimes thought of his reflection as more angelic than demonic - although these flights of fancy only last a few moments before he reverts to his depressive self-loathing state.

Quote

"I am the bringer of death, the one who will end all life here."

Powers

Armageddon's skin has become a hard stone-like substance with a very high degree of resilience to physical and energy-based attacks. The density of his body also grants him uberhuman strength and regenerative abilities enabling him to seemingly heal from any attack. He has always had wings, although these have changed over time as well. Initially they were more batlike in appearance, but now they have softened. While still made of the same stone-like material as his skin, they appear more like stone feathers now than stone membrane.

Appearance

Armageddon appears like a huge stone angel. His skin is a grey-brown and his wings are darker, almost black, with an impressive wingspan. Standing at over two hundred and ten centremetres tall he is difficult to miss and often feels the eyes of others on him. Like all members of Legion, Armageddon wears a uniform, although he is thus far unable to wear the top, being too thick for the armour. The armour he does wear is a highly resistant black body armour with dark grey pads on the legs and boots. His mask has a stylised skull motif with green eyes (infrared visor), and this symbol is repeated on his shoulder, tattoos he received in Tunis.

Notes

Armageddon is the nemesis of former player character Choir, the Dawnstars' resident 'flying nun'.

#42 MEDUSA (Cote d'Ivoire)

medusa.jpg

MEDUSA

Soraya al-Shahriar

Character Sheet (HTM)

Background

After discovering her telekinetic abilities whilst watching a soccer match in Tunisia, Soraya found within herself a need to fight injustice and defend those who could not properly defend themselves. As a teenager she became a crimefighter, studying and fighting crime with equal fervor. She found her dual calling in the foreign service and was assigned to Paris as part of a diplomatic attaché from Tunis. It was during her time in Paris and Brussels, Soraya came to the attention of the European Union's fledgling uberhuman team, the Dawnstars. As Medusa, Soraya became the first leader of the Dawnstars when it was publicly unveiled in Brussels.

Her leadership ended when the team moved to Italy and Medusa left without warning, severing ties with her close friends. Although she never explained her actions, Soraya had been warned by her lover, an Italian businessman, that the Dawnstars were being set up for a fall. Soraya decided that she could better serve the team by quitting the public eye and working from behind the scenes.

This plan would have worked, had it not been for the fact that her Italian lover was the crime lord, Remus. As soon as she had left the Dawnstars, Remus had Soraya kidnapped and taken to a hidden complex in Spain where she was tortured and conditioned over several months.

Although her spirit was strong, eventually Soraya broke down and was remodelled as a fierce and vengeful woman. When Medusa returned to the Dawnstars it was as their adversary, leading a band of killers known as Gauntlet to attack the Dawnstars in a series of assassinations. Medusa was not in full control of her actions, although she can still relish the feelings of power she had during the time under Remus' power. During this time she confronted and murdered her best friend, the German hero Shriek. The murder was high profile and occurred during an opera performance.

The Dawnstars reformed after the attempts on their lives, and their anger towards Medusa helped forged them into Europe's greatest hero groups.

Medusa, on the other hand, realised that she could never regain her role as a hero. Her conditioning was never fully shaken off and she still maintained a colder, harder edge to her personality. She watched as Remus' Empire collapsed around them and took the initiative by rescuing a number of young ubers under Remus' protection. She took these young misguided villains to Tunisia where she hid them. Whilst in her home country, Soraya met with Revenant who led a group of soldiers-for-hire known as The Legion.

After some consideration Soraya offered her services as well as the services of her young charges. Since joining the team, Soraya has managed to take command of the unit and created a tight band of mercenaries. While she will never again be a hero, Medusa operates in her own moral environment where she still fights for justice on behalf of those who cannot fight on their own. Only this time she fights for money.

Personality

In private and out of uniform, Soraya is a well-educated, well-mannered young woman. She has learned not to judge other people’s beliefs or aspirations, and comes across as a very open and accommodating individual – if not a little headstrong. She has a soft laugh backed by an stimulating sense of humour, and finds pleasure in conversation and the pursuit of knowledge.

As a mercenary, Soraya operates with consummate professionalism. She strongly believes in protecting the world and is still a super-hero at heart, although she can no longer operate as one and finds it difficult to actually articulate her beliefs. She will never betray her team, and feels a great sense of guilt for the deaths of her former team. She spends a lot of her time balancing factors and repercussions, and is sometimes caught in an apparent conversation with herself, or an imaginary ghost of her friend, Kristin.

Quote

"Do not go looking for answers you do not want to find."

Powers

Medusa is a powerful telekinetic although her powers have not returned to the level she had attained during her time with Gauntlet. She is able to lift in excess of 12 tons with the power of her mind and erect very powerful telekinetic walls of pure force. One of the most formidable aspects of her power is her ability to maintain her powers over a very long time without tiring.

Appearance

Soraya is descended from Arabic and French heritage. Her hair is dark brown with reddish-brown highlights, and she wears her hair in two long braids. Her eyes are dark and penetrating. She prefers to wear simple black clothes out of uniform, and does not allow herself to waste time or money on expensive attire.

Like all members of Legion, Medusa wears a highly resistant black body armour with dark grey pads on the legs, shoulders, boots and gloves. Her mask has a stylised skull motif with green eyes (infrared visor), and this symbol is repeated on the shoulder pads. There is a Legion symbol on the left side of her chest: a lightning-like 'L' in yellow.

Notes

Medusa is a former Dawnstar-turned bad. She was the one who betrayed the player characters and actually managed to kill off a few team mates. In Dawnstars mythos she is the ultimate enemy. Medusa thinks the heroes are over reacting a little bit...

Re: Around the World With A New Character Each Week

You have to be pretty desperate if you hire those Guys to get some Justice done.:ugly:

Well on the other Hand if you want some Graphic Justice, I assume they are right up your Street.

Yeah it is all in the interpretation. Your delivery will be very important. Medusa is sort of blind to her own idea of justice that if something is phrased just right she'd consider it - even assassination and murder if required.

#43 RUZICA (Croatia)

monkey.jpg

RUZICA

Ruzica Ljelje, Dragon Maiden

Character Sheet (HTM)

Background

Ruzica had always been surrounded with the occult and one of her earliest memories is of her uncle being devoured by a purple, winged creature she later came to discover was called Laszlo (and, incidentally, was also an uncle of hers). Her mother was a member of a cult centered in Valjevo, Serbia, although her mother was always fiercely Croatian. When Yugoslavia dissolved, her mother dragged her across to Zagreb where the two of them attempted to break with their past and start a new, non-occult life. It didn't last very long.

Ruzica's mother was kidnapped by demons, and although it wasn't the first time such a thing had happened, this time her mother didn't come back. Ruzica was on her own. She called upon her family back in Serbia and made some unusual reunions including afternoon tea with Uncle Laszlo. Her obsession with the occult was refuelled by her mother's absence and she began an apprenticeship with various family members, often being passed around regularly as a slave girl in the Cinderella style, although Ruzica never complained openly.

When she had mastered enough magic, and the number of her family support network had dwindled to three because of a variety of demon-hunters and terrible accidents; Ruzica travelled back to Croatia, having heard of a group of young (and hip) occultists on a island called Krk. The island was actually a bustling and corrupt metropolis and Ruzica found herself loving the darkness and despair.

She found her way into the Grabancijas coterie and was accepted, initially on a trial basis. They didn't trust her, but that wasn't seen as a negative thing. They didn't trust anyone. But when Uncle Laszlo arrived in a plume of sulphur and began to feast upon one of the occultists, the Grabancijas decided that Ruzica was too much trouble.

They banished Laszlo and cursed Ruzica before leaving Krk Island for good.

Ruzica found herself without her spell-casting ability and without a home. But worse than that she found that she was now trapped in the form of a monkey. After some frantic soul-searching Ruzica hit the streets and tried to survive the best she could. People generally freaked out when she spoke and while some tried to capture her most of them ran away. That was until she met Morkin, a kind-hearted woman in the midst of a cess pit.

Although embarrassed to admit it now, Ruzica literally latched on to Morkin and wouldn't let go until the laughing woman promised to look after her.

Personality

Ruzica hasn't fully come to terms with becoming a monkey. She has a short temper and can be often sarcastic and rude, although when she is upbeat and relaxed she is very friendly and easy to get along with. She has become very close friends with Morkin and feels comfortable in her presence. Since she has no family of her own, Ruzica often finds herself thinking of Morkin as her mother. This is something Morkin is happy to go along with as she knows the hard life young Ruzica has endured.

Quote

"It's not that I can't talk, you idiot; it's just that I don't want to talk to YOU!"

Powers

Ruzica was once known as the Dragon Maiden and had begun studying magic, the results of which enabled her to perform a small number of magical spells. Since being cursed she has lost most of this ability although she still possesses the ability to sense magic, and some magical resistance (her protective spells managed to protect some of her magical ability just prior to the transformation). Although her magic is mostly gone, Ruzica now possesses keen acrobatic abilities and all of the natural gifts of a small monkey which means that she can be very difficult to spot when she stays still, and very difficult to catch or hit when she becomes mobile.

Appearance

Ruzica was once a thin, pale-skinned young woman with straight reddish-brown hair and wire-framed spectacles. Since getting mixed up with the Grabancijas and earning their wrath, she now looks like a small wildly-animated monkey. She has dark brown fur, a long tail and a very flexible body which never seems to stop moving.

#43 SPECULA (Croatia)

specula.jpg

SPECULA

Morkinjice Zdencje

Character Sheet (HTM)

Background

Morkin began life in eastern Croatia, which was then known as Yugoslavia and formed part of a communist state. She was the daughter of an accountant and found herself becoming more and more responsible for his everyday living as his body began to deteriorate with Parkinson's Disease. Her mother was kept busy looking after Morkin's three younger sisters. Her duties dealing with her father ignited an interest in finance and after he died she was able to attend university in Zagreb where she studied economics.

During university she was involved in a number of protests, initially as an innocent bystander, but after the violent retribution against the students, she became more and more active in the protest group. Her defensive powers became apparent when she and a group of other protesters came under attack by police forces. Her rainbow-hued shields protected the group but thrust them into the media spotlight. The Yugoslav government moved swiftly to capture Morkin, but after spending a week in custody she was met by delegates from the Vatican. Her powers had drawn attention from the Catholic Church which had recently established its Sanctity team of uberhumans.

It was 1983 and Morkin was taken out of Yugoslavia and sheltered in the Vatican. As Specula, Morkin worked tirelessly across the globe with Sanctity, but her heart was never in the spectacular effects and grandstanding she saw in some of the other members of the team. She wanted to help people but often found herself appearing in devastated regions of the world, only to leave again within several days when another disaster called. She wanted to remain in the areas and help rebuild.

With this in mind, Morkin approached the team's advisers and proposed a new direction for Sanctity. With Specula at the helm Sanctity created a sub-team which would be deployed for long-term assignments. Morkin was surprised that her idea was taken on board and equally surprised to be given the leadership position. Nonetheless she took on the responsibility with her usual hardworking approach. Her first assignment was in Kurdistan, assisting the local Kurds recover from attacks originating in Iraq and later, Turkey. This assignment lasted nine months.

And then she was sent to Krk Island.

Yugoslavia had collapsed and Croatia had independence, but the island of Krk, in the fledgling country's north-west, was suffering the side effects of rapid urban expansion with little regulation. The island was mostly covered by sprawling urban centres, the edges of which were little more than slums. The poverty-stricken refugees from the wars in the former Yugoslav areas had travelled to Krk in the hope of attaining illegal passports and travel documents. Krk had also attracted crime syndicates from Italy and Albania, among other places.

The government of Croatia had bigger problems to face so Krk was left to its own, exploding devices. Crime rates soared and still the poor travelled there in the misguided hope of securing a new life someplace far away.

Sanctity sent Morkin and her small team to help establish a medical outpost and assist with more secure housing for the poor. The Sanctity team were opposed by the local criminals and the heroes were forced to defend themselves using their uberhuman powers. Spectacular battles ensued across the haunted skyline of Krk, and after seven weeks the Vatican recalled the team. Sanctity was not supposed to be an assault force, they said. When Krk was more secure they would return.

Morkin knew that the criminals she saw every day would not change. In fact she saw a darker future where crime would become more entrenched. While her team prepared to leave, Morkin made the decision to remain in Krk. She resigned from Sanctity and established herself in one of the slum areas, known as Brodarkinje.

It is here that she continues to support the poor and dispossessed, while maintaining neutrality in the battles between criminals and law enforcement agents. While she is still called upon to use her powers as Specula, it is her care for the poor which has made her a well-renowned superhero.

She is often aided by her 'partner', Ruzica Ljelje: a young mystic transformed into a small monkey by a powerful band of sorcerers who were travelling through Krk Island. While Morkin doesn't spend a great deal of time considering the world of magic, she has relied on Ruzica's advice and expertise on more than one occasion, and through their friendship Morkin has come to appreciate the ups and downs of the world. Ruzica, on the other hand, still often feels angry and embarrassed by her current form. Krk Island is a dangerous place, but Morkin and Ruzica offer a little safety and light to counter the darkness.

Personality

Morkin is a level-headed woman who has lived amongst the poor for nearly a decade and has found comfort in the simple things life can offer. She is extremely hard working and can often run herself ragged as she rarely lets up on herself. She is well regarded in Krk, although there are some criminals who may find her presence an affront and seek to eradicate her. She deals with these 'nuisances' as she deals with bureaucratic red tape. Morkin is a deeply religious woman who sees her ubergene, and the ubergene in general, as a sign from God. She uses her powers and her mind for God's purpose: to shepherd the poor and help them find God, even in the darkest recesses of Krk Island.

Quote

"God has never given up on you, child. And neither shall I."

Powers

Specula is able to generate a rainbow-hued 'mirror force' which can deflect most attacks. It is a form of telekinesis but is limited to producing a shield-like field. Specula has become quite adept at utilising this force and is able to redirect attacks, such as bullets or even energy beams, so that she can use an enemy's attacks to bring him down. She is also able to extend her field to protect others and focus the field as an attack, knocking opponents down.

Her greatest talent, however, is her empathy and goal to help those who need assistance without taking sides. Her neutrality has garnered respect from some of Krk's more influential crime lords, although the Croatian government remains suspicious as to her 'true motives'.

Appearance

Morkin Zdencje is in her forties and has silver-grey hair cut in a stylish bob. Her eyes are kind and blue and her face remains mostly unlined from her aging, although she has distinctive smile-lines around her mouth. While she did once wear a superhero costume as Specula (which included a silver body suit and rainbow-styled glasses/mask), Morkin now wears regular clothing and shudders to think of her younger, more fashion-disaster days.

Notes

First up, I didn't write an organisation page for these two because it is very informal. Specula is running a kind of soup kitchen and the monkey has kind of attached herself to Specula.

I've also made Specula a Patriot in the sense that she lives by the ideals of Catholicism, and was a hero in Sanctity prior to her becoming 'neutral'. I thought long and hard about the Patriot tag and I think membership in Sanctity (The Pope's Uberhuman Team) qualifies.

Lastly, I'd like to say that Krk Island, although a real place in Croatia, is actually fictionalised here. I've envisioned it as a kind of Gotham City / Sin City place where rapid urbanisation has been carried out without any kind of regulation. It's close to my campaign city of Venice too, so I might be able to bring a Dawnstars game into the Krk Island community. It'd be a great place for criminals to hide out, or for heroes to secretly go and get information.

#44 PERUN (Cuba)

perun.jpg

PERUN

PERUN106a-01 aka Esteban Coto

Character Sheet (HTM)

Background

In April 1961, the United States and Cuban exiles attempted to invade Cuba and incite a counter-revolution against the popular leader Fidel Castro. The CIA recruited the forces and inserted two known American ubers, Bow and Arrow. Bow, who would later become Silver Bow, a noted anti-war protester of the 1970s, was the senior advisor to the forces. While the Americans believed their invasion would succeed in bringing out popular support in the smaller towns and villages, the Cubans and their Soviet supporters had managed to eradicate a lot of popular support through tough and decisive scourges resulting in many deaths and disappearances of rebel leaders. The Soviets had also sent one of their ubers, the God Perun, to Cuba where he was at the forefront of Cuba's defences.

The invasion was a bloody affair and there were many deaths, the end result being a resounding victory for Cuba and the Soviets. Perun decimated the ground forces, flanked by Soviet tanks; and the invasion was called off after only two days.

Perun remained in Cuba for reprisal attacks against Guatemala, where the rebel forces had rallied, as well as against Cuban-based rebel supporters. After six months he returned to the Soviet Union. Perun was seemingly killed in Afghanistan in 1982 although since he was a god, it is assumed he returned to his home dimension to recuperate.

During his short stay in Cuba, scientists acquired genetic samples without permission in a bid to graft the god's powers onto Cuban test subjects. The project had the covert support of the Soviet Union, although Perun had never been consulted. When Russia began having its own internal troubles in the 1980s, they pulled out support from Cuba and the project was forgotten. In 1990 the project had its first breakthrough with two successful clones being produced. These were labelled PERUN106a-01 and PERUN106a-02.

Castro kept these two 'boys' secret, even from his own government - having eradicated the scientists involved via a well-executed explosion at the research facility. Castro had the boys raised separately by two loyal families, the Coto and the Aquila families. His plan was to raise two secret weapons to counter any future American threat. Cuba had, in the past, had relatively few ubers and none of them had been of any significance.

The boys excelled. Esteban Coto was adopted by Castro's physician, Dr Coto, and showed a keen interest in forensics and science. Raul Aquila, on the other hand, was adopted by a senior military advisor and pursued strategy and war. Their powers were kept secret through conditioning and uberhuman restraints provided by Russia. However, in 2006 the boys met for the first time in the Viñales Valley in the north-west region of Cuba famous for tobacco crops. There meeting resulted in a massive explosion equivalent in power to 13 kilotons of TNT which devastated the region, killing 32 people including their adoptive families. The boys were unscathed and Castro used the opportunity to convince the boys to use their powers for the public good of Cuba.

Esteban hated his powers and has been resistant to using them in public, preferring to assist with medical issues. Raul, on the other hand, had been trained by his tactician father to take on the mantle of Cuba's superhero. Raul took on the mantle of Perun, on the insistence of Castro, and had been prolific in promoting Castro's regime until Castro became ill.

The Riders of the Storm seized the opportunity to try and topple Castro's powerbase. The horsemen devastated a large section of Havana and when they were opposed by Perun they focused their powers on him. It was a battle of godlike powers. Perun severely wounded Battleaxe and Victory in the battle but was himself mortally wounded by Stormbringer.

Raul later died in hospital, leaving the reluctant Esteban to take on the role of Perun. Since Raul's death, Esteban's powers have seemed to increase to very concerning levels. Even Castro has become worried that Perun will become too dangerous in the future, and plans have been set up to eliminate Perun if such a time comes that Perun threatens Castro or Cuba. Throughout this, Esteban remains unaware of his true origins and believes he is an uberhuman.

Personality

Esteban Coto is a teenager with immense power, but unlike his 'brother' Raul Aquila, Esteban is considerate and cautious about his powers and would much prefer to be given a 'normal' life where he did not have to operate in such public displays as required by Castro. As Perun he appears to be an obedient, loyal protector of Cuba and Communism, but internally Esteban has doubts about his powers and his ability to control those powers.

He wants to be a doctor, like his father, and in his spare time he works in the hospitals providing assistance to Cuba's surgeons as a medical student. Esteban has the knowledge of a skilled surgeon but not the life experiences, although Castro has fabricated certain university qualifications for Esteban so that he can operate in the hospitals. While he has no way of doing so, Esteban would like to attend university and acquire a medical degree in his own right, but with his growing responsibilities as Perun and his genius-level intellect he has been convinced by Castro that such an undertaking would be a waste of his talents. Esteban wants what is best for Cuba, and he understands that his powers are, by rights, the property of the people.

Quote

"My whole life I've been told I can do anything, but there is a difference between what a person can do and what they will do. It is strange, but the more I grow in power the less I become as a person."

Powers

Esteban Coto, or PERUN106a-01, is a genetic clone of the Slavic god Perun who operated in Russia between 1958 and 1982. While Perun showed incredible abilities during this time it is believed that he could only tap into a small amount of his godlike power. Recent appearances of other gods, such as Ganesh in India, have shown that power levels fluctuate for these other-dimensional beings. The two clones of Perun began with peak human abilities in physical and mental areas. The boys were supreme athletes and had genius-level IQs. However, when they met for the first time they unleashed an incredible amount of otherdimensional energy which created a stronger link between Earth and the dimension which serves as home to the Slavic gods. Both boys began to manifest uberhuman level abilities.

These abilities included uberhuman strength enabling the boys to lift in excess of 50 tons, as well as significant resistance to injury, the ability to fly and uberhuman reaction times. Since the death of Raul, Esteban's powers have been augmented. He now possesses the strength to lift in excess of 400 tons, immunity to disease and poison, supersonic flight, regenerative capabilities and he can also generate intense amounts of electricity in the form of lightning bolts which can strike almost anywhere.

It is suggested by Castro's advisors that Perun's powers will continue to increase and that the links between Earth and the original Perun's dimension will grow stronger. It is not known how the Slavic gods feel about Perun being cloned, or if Perun is still in existence after seemingly being killed in Afghanistan. It is possible that Esteban Coto will become Perun, achieving true godlike abilities and eventually going on to live in the other dimension.

Appearance

Perun is a tall and attractive teenager, with a chiselled body and graceful movements. He is a golden boy, often paraded in front of the Cuban people as an example of the benefits of Communism. He has dark blonde hair and blue eyes and is still growing in height. In public Perun wears a red, white and blue costume reflecting the Cuban flag. Out of uniform he wears glasses to help disguise himself and appears as a handsome, well-dressed university student, often wearing a doctor's coat while working in hospitals.

Notes

Okay, I found it difficult to create a 600 point character (lucky he wasn't from the Golden Age or something!). US-Cuba relations would have been affected if there had been a 600 point character so I made sure the powerful character (Perun) only recently accessed the godlike powers in his DNA.

His power levels may spiral out of control and so Perun actually represents an interesting Adventure plot. Cuba could become more aggressive or if Perun becomes too much to handle the PCs may be called upon to rescue him from a termination order.

Alternatively Perun could be linked to an adventure to the dimension of the Slavic Gods or he may draw those gods out of hiding. I've left the option of having Perun become the REAL Perun and replace the god who was seemingly killed in Afghanistan. Again that could be an interesting plot for PCs. Maybe they befreind Perun and then find that he has to leave in order to take up the position of God.

The Uberworld site is undergoing a little site transfer this weekend so pictures and characters may be difficult to find. Our capable webmaster is looking after things so I'm sure everything will be hunky-dory by Monday or Tuesday. No April Fool's Jokes...

#45 AGON (Cyprus)

agon.jpg

AGON

Stamatia Carides

Character Sheet (HTM)

Background

While she was born in Athens, Stamatia Carides has spent her life in Cyprus since her parents separated when she was very young. She returned to her mother's home of Lemesos, but never forgave her father for his affairs or his inability to show affection. No one spoke about it and the silence further infuriated Tia. She grew up with hatred seething just below her skin, a terrible force which was so powerful that she literally exploded during a school detention after being caught cheating. Her uber powers flared and she destroyed most of her school in a rampage. She refused to return home and made her way to the streets where she continued to lash out at anything which annoyed her or which seemed to mock her. And that meant anything from the fish stalls to the town library.

She continued raging through the day and night. Weeks passed. Her mother never went looking for her, probably happy to be rid of the violent teenager. The police arrested her several times, but she always escaped and they seemed to accept her as just one more problem to deal with on a weekly basis. No one really took her seriously.

Eventually, Tia focused her anger and made short work of the local street gangs, slamming them into line and demanding their allegiance. She saw the Turkish Cypriots as an almost acceptable target for her fury and unleashed her anger against them, bringing the gangs along with her. The police weren't too upset and turned their attention away from Tia's activities again.

Some news reports called her Agon (probably meaning her campaign against the Turks rather than Tia herself, but Tia never gave much thought to details) and the name caught on. Tia was impressed with the support she was receiving from the community, although no one would openly applaud her assault against the Turks. Agon meant 'contest' and she revelled in the idea that she was engaged in some kind of competition and that she had garnered support.

Personality

Agon is angry and enjoys using her powers to exert her power over the gangs of her city. As she consolidates power over the human gangs she has begun to look beyond Cyprus' borders and hopes to become a serious uberhuman mercenary. While doing rudimentary research (she hates study and anything to do with education and book learning) she came across Midas and has decided to join him in TITAN, just as soon as she can contact them.

In the meantime Agon will continue to beat up on anyone she pleases and accept small jobs on the side as she builds up her 'mercenary resume'.

Quote

"You're eating my boot."

Powers

Agon is able to generate a powerful force field which protects her from all conventional injury. She has been able to modulate its frequency through practice so that it also grants her a variety of other abilities, most notably flight and a powerful force-field punch. The field operates in more subtle ways, too, and can actually heal injuries and provide Agon with oxygen in inhospitable environments (although she has only used this ability while travelling underwater). As she develops her powers, Agon becomes more and more of a threat mostly because she is so brazen and believes fighting gives her respect.

In addition to her force field powers, Agon also possesses uberhuman strength enabling her to lift in excess of 3000kg. She uses this strength with her streetfighting experience and this makes her a serious hand-to-hand combatant.

Appearance

Agon is a large, muscle-bound Greek woman with flowing reddish-brown hair and thick eyebrows under which lie dark and dangerous eyes. She seems to constantly sneer and never laughs, unless it is laced with malice. Agon is a bully and always exudes violence and threat whether it be with her words or her body language. She wears tank tops and thick-soled boots, although her clothing is made from conventional material and she hasn't yet decided on a costume.

Her force field manifests itself as a golden glow, sometimes tipped with a fiery red fringe.

Notes

Superfast character creation there. Probably nothing too original but I wanted to get another character up on the blog. The picture is one I drew last year but never assigned a picture to. Originally she was going to be Greek so this character seemed to fit the bill.

#46 CYNOSURE (Czech Republic)

cynosure.jpg

CYNOSURE

Dr. Radek Vaidisova

Character Sheet (HTM)

Background

The Cynosure Power Suit was initially developed by the Numen-Kami Institute in the 1990s but was never completed. As part of the team, and Saul Numen's second cousin, Dr. Radek Vaidisova managed to purchase the blueprints and rights for a reasonable payment and returned to his home in the Czech Republic to tinker with the design which he knew would produce a viable product. Vaidisova pursued the power suit designs mostly out of jealousy. His cousin and the Numen family had been transformed into super heroes and Radek couldn't help but feel jealous of their world-wide fame and accomplishments. The Czech Republic offered Radek assistance and within a few months he had, indeed, managed to produce a prototype.

Saul Numen was impressed and allocated Radek more funding to further refine the suit. Radek committed his whole life to producing the Cynosure suit and in 2003 he was asked by Saul Numen to attend a conference in Washington DC which would showcase alternative power sources and associated technology. Saul wanted Radek to demonstrate the power suit's abilities. Radek agreed thinking that his cousin also planned on asking him to join the New Men.

In America, Radek found himself amongst other inventors all of whom had designed prototype power suits. Rather than standing out as a potential hero, Radek found himself among other second-stringers. During the conference a group of three super villains attempted to steal a negative-light power generator. Night Shift had waited until the New Men had left the conference after the first day and seized the opportunity to plunder the advanced technology on display.

Radek and another inventor suited up in their prototype suits and attempted to stop the robbery. The other inventor found himself smashed through several walls only to end up head first in the back of a mini-van, while Radek fared a little better. While he was unable to stop the theft he did manage to disrupt their attack. His light powers were able to negate the majority of Night Shift's attacks.

When the media reported on the robbery they mentioned Cynosure, although not in a completely flattering light. Saul thanked him for attempting to stop the theft, but Radek saw it as another failure and returned to Prague. Rather than continue to look to Saul for inspiration, Radek was convinced by the government to work for them as the Czech Republic's number one hero. Radek accepted, if only because he had little other option. Initially he only went along with the government for further funding, but after representing them and the people and assisting with several disasters, Radek realised that he really could find a satisfying life in the Czech Republic.

Cynosure has been a national hero for the past three years and although he is still seen as a bumbling fool by many, he is loved by the people and embraced by the government who have benefited from having their own hero, especially against attacks from the Russian terrorist group, Oktober.

Personality

Radek tries really, really hard. He wants to be a hero and to command the respect of everyone around him, but somewhere along the way he always manages to do something foolish or else events conspire against him and he ends up in an embarrassing situation. Regardless of his haphazard approach to heroics, Cynosure has managed to secure a role amongst the European heroes. While he doesn't travel much beyond Eastern Europe he has managed to attend some conferences held by the European Union, and did try out for membership with the Dawnstars (only to end up destroying part of the Miranda in an accident).

Quote

"Look at me! I am powerful and... er... what is that burning smell?" (Seconds later a part of his power suit explodes, sending his anti-grav belt flying up into the ceiling and covering him in concrete dust and pieces of the second floor.)

Powers

The Cynosure power suit utilises light and antigrav technology. The suit itself provides protection from conventional injury, enhanced physical strength and reaction times, as well as a visor which provides the wearer with infrared vision capabilities, some telescopic enhancers and protection against flares. When powered on the suit is capable of producing a range of light beams ranging from a concussive photon bolt through to a deadly laser beam. The suit is also able to manipulate light waves to reduce the effects of flashes, to render the wearer and others invisible, and to counter the effects of darkness (which includes the generation of light). Another of Radek's enhancements has been to install a flare field which provides protection from attacks as well as delivering a blinding flash to attackers.

He has developed an anti-grav belt which enables him to fly.

While the power suit boasts incredible powers it is quite vulnerable to electricity-based attacks which disrupt the power suit's cells and can render some of his powers inert. Radek hasn't been able to rectify this problem without losing potency of the suit itself. He has decided that power is more important at this time than reliability - which really goes to show the kind of bumbling hero he is.

Appearance

The Cynosure power suit is primarily yellow with white piping down the sides and white gloves, belt and boots. The suit has a green infrared visor and a yellow cowl, although the wearer's face is exposed. Radek wears a black cape over the suit which is lined in white. He is a healthy man in his thirties with prematurely white hair, bright blue eyes and a creased forehead which makes him look worried or confused all of the time. He isn't very tall and can often seem less imposing than other heroes, although when his powers are being effectively used he is quite a competent hero.

#47 MAN KILLER (Denmark)

mankiller.jpg

MAN KILLER

Sophie Berglund

Character Sheet (HTM)

Background

Sophie Berglund was brutally attacked on a university campus when she was working as a delivery driver. The men assaulted her and left her for dead, and she would have died had it not been for the Danish hero Holger Danske, who was in the area and who took her to the nearest hospital. Her injuries were severe. She lost her right eye and most of her left breast because of the savage attacks, as well as severe internal injuries.

Sophie was traumatised and when she was released she hid away in her small apartment, refusing to answer the door or her phone. Her family were worried but couldn't make contact. Everyone who knew her began whispering that it would have been better if she had died, rather than to live the hollow life she now had.

When thieves broke into her apartment, thinking it was vacant, they unwittingly activated Sophie's latent ubergene. In fear for her life again, Sophie found herself so terrified that she couldn't move. During this torpor something deep within her rebelled. She found herself watching as a passenger while her body attacked the invaders. Her body pummelled and broke the men. She watched in wide-eyed horror as her apartment was trashed, blood smeared everywhere and the three thieves dead and mangled.

No one investigated.

Everyone thought Sophie was still hiding away.

When she felt calm enough, Sophie began venturing out at night to watch her body enact violence against other men. At first she was content to watch, safely hidden at the back of her mind, but after a while Sophie realised that she had been in control the whole time and that she enjoyed the violence her body now found itself capable of dealing.

Somehow her actions took on the power of urban legend and she became known as the Man Killer. She received pleas in the forms of open letters at bus stations or in parks. Other women called out to her to avenge them. Sophie tracked the women down and listened to their stories, and more often than not she acted on the news, killing those men who had dared to inflict such pain. During this time she tracked down her own abusers. They were killed on the college grounds, mere metres from where she had been attacked.

It was this attack that drew the attention of Holger Danske and the hero went to Sophie's apartment to confront her. At first she denied the charges, but after being tracked by Holger Danske a battle ensued. Sophie fled and has been opposed ever since by the Brotherhood - an organisation that she considers as dangerous and manipulative as the men she hunts.

Personality

Man Killer avenges the women of Denmark who have been victims of sexual assault. She sees herself as the only one willing to do what is necessary to eradicate the scum, even though she knows what she is doing is illegal. Her pain is still constant, both the physical and the psychological; but she has learned to live with the pain.

At times she has appeared to soften in her stance. For several months she restrained herself and with the help of Holger Danske she seemed to be getting better, becoming more accepting of her condition. She even started a relationship with Holger Danske, although it ended horribly when she had a flashback to her assault. Thinking Holger Danske was one of her attackers she lashed out at him, nearly killing him. The Brotherhood tracked her down but she evaded them by diving into the North Sea.

While still having some feelings for Holger Danske, Man Killer remains a cold and calculated killer of men.

Quote

"Let's see that Y chromosome save you from lead, bastard."

Powers

Man Killer is a latent uber able to intuitively move and strike in combat. Her body becomes a weapon and even though she has had no combat training she is lethal. She also has a limited danger sense, warning her of approaching peril, particularly in relation to the approach of authorities. Many times she has escaped the Brotherhood.

Appearance

Man Killer is a product of her past. The vicious assault on her left her with one eye and one breast, as well as other internal injuries. She wears an eye patch. While originally a brunette, Sophie dyed her hair white and cut it into an incredible short buzz cut. When on the prowl as Man Killer she wears a purple bodysuit made of durable kevlar, and a long sleeved black leather jacket and gloves. She carries an automatic pistol in a holster on a thick belt and has tough high boots.

#48 LE RENARD (Djibouti)

Note: This character concept was a 450 point Golden Age Brick. I've made an explorer-type pulp hero who isn't supposed to have super abilities, but is just really fortunate when it comes to avoiding injury.

renard.jpg

LE RENARD

Guillaume Quelennec

Character Sheet (HTM)

Background

One of the bright lights of the early 20th Century, Guillaume Quelennec led an adventurous life in the French Territory of the Afars and Issas. His father, Felix, was the governor and after his mother died when he was five, Guillaume and his older sister Susan were able to grow up with very little adult supervision apart from a handful of servants. Even at this young age Guillaume was an explorer and often found himself in the bustling markets of Djibouti, haggling with camel traders and spending his father's money on sweets and trinkets.

Although Susan was older by two years, she was far from being the serious one and often found herself in trouble. Sometimes the trouble was awkward enough that it required a subtle rescue, and Guillaume took on the responsibility of rescuing his sister from such awkward moments. He enjoyed the secrecy and the excitement of sneaking into gambling halls and onto merchant vessels in search of Susan, something which would later lead to him taking on the role of Le Renard, a costumed adventurer.

But before he began his career as Le Renard, Guillaume tried his hand at trading and, more importantly, at exploring. During 1935, at the age of 23, he and his sister discovered the secret metropolis of Gorilla City. Although the city had experienced humans before they were still curious as to Guillaume and Susan's appearance and treated them as honoured guests. Guillaume wrote a short article on his adventures but it never achieved much success or recognition.

During his explorer days, Guillaume encountered a rival explorer (and exploiter), the Englishman Christopher Faulkner, aka The Hound. Guillaume enjoyed the games of cat and mouse that ensued so much, that he took on the role of Le Renard - the fox to Faulkner's hound. While Guillaume perceived the rivalry as mostly fun-filled adventure he inadvertently foiled many plots that the Hound was planning and thus became an accidental hero.

In 1938 Marcel Donati arrived in Djibouti. An Italian-French spy, Donati sabotaged the governor's position and led to Guillaume's father being sent back to France. Guillaume remained in Africa, although Susan was sent back to France as well, but he was forced to remain under house arrest by the Vichy government. During this time Guillaume continued his activities as Le Renard becoming a War Hero, although this was short lived. He lost interest and passion for resisting the government when he found himself falling in love with Penelope, a Vichy supporter, and the daughter of the new governor.

After the war he returned to Marseilles with Penelope where they married and started a family in 1948. They had two sons, Marcel and Jacques. Once back in France, Guillaume gave up his life as Le Renard, however, his grandson Francois Quelennec, who was born in 1972, would go on to become the second Le Renard and represent his country as a hero as well as a member of the Dawnstars. Tragedy followed, as the second Renard was killed by Motte and Bailey along with his two children, leaving behind a widow, Nefise.

Guillaume died in 2000, a year before his grandson, after suffering a series of cancer outbreaks. Marcel and Jacques still live in France. Marcel (father of Renard II) is a retired school teacher and Jacques is a part-time political journalist.

Personality

Guillaume Quelennec never really thought about his actions apart from their immediate consequences. He would run into a gambling hall full of cut throats and thieves without a second thought, just to rescue his sister from the attentions of a seedy pirate. He would recover stolen jewels without thought of reward. In short, Le Renard was a man who lived a carefree life in a golden age.

After the Second World War he settled down and never regretted leaving behind his identity of Le Renard. He became a devoted father and grandfather, a caring husband and charitable businessman. No one suspected the adventures he had experienced in Africa except his sister Susan and his grandchildren who were all privy to his stories as he watched them grow up.

Quote

"Fantastique! I never knew a diamond could be that big!"

Powers

Although Le Renard had no superhuman powers, he was extremely lucky and managed to escape injury and death on more times than would seem humanly possible. He possessed peak human attributes and seemed to be the very epitome of the human condition. While he was proficient in using firearms, he preferred to use his hands in a carefree manner, striking out with glee at those who he saw as 'the bad guys'. He was also renowned for his remarkable choke hold which could render even a strong man unconscious in seconds.

Appearance

Guillaume was a handsome, athletic and affable man. He was larger than life and always smiling and upbeat. He would normally wear khakis, but when the situation required it he would don a costume for covert activities. As Le Renard he wore a skintight reddish brown costume with black boots, gloves and a domino mask.

As he grew older he maintained his husky physique and boyish good looks.

#49 BOGEYMAN (Dominica)

bogeyman.jpg

THE BOGEYMAN

Donald Freeland

Character Sheet (HTM)

Background

The Bogeyman was the most hated super villain during the late 1980s, being responsible for the grisly deaths of at least eight children in California. He heralded in a darker era for the uber-world. His crimes were broadcast across America and the globe, with experts focusing on the crimes like never before. Reports fed the fear which was running rampant, and the details which were released are still horrific even in the present day.

Twenty years later, the Bogeyman is little more than an urban legend in the United States, and not even remembered beyond its borders. The truth is that the Bogeyman was defeated by his human side. Donald Freeland finally won power over his sadistic, darker side and promptly pulled himself out of the United States.

Freeland began life in the United Kingdom where he lived a regular, unexceptional life as a book keeper. His life changed when West Guard Industries opened a chemical processing plant in Newcastle and hired Freeland who had found himself temporarily without a job. Once with West Guard Industries, Freeland found himself privy to some unusual data exchanges. Going against his better judgement, he investigated an area of the complex which was off limits to most staff, including Freeland. Inside was a laboratory. West Guard was a front for C.L.A.W. and was developing chemical weapons, focusing on the production and manipulation of fear within human test subjects.

Freeland fumbled with a vial, dropped it and was doused in a liquid which quickly transformed into a vapour.

He started to see monstrous images and panicked, striking out at the vials which were stored along the wall of the room. The gas made him hallucinate and develop intense paranoia. As he destroyed the lab, fighting imaginary demons, the combination of experimental chemicals and the fear gas, transformed him, unlocking his ubergene. His body hardened, his muscles became tense and powerful. As his mind cleared he was possessed with a sadistic, dark side. Freeland prowled through the complex and murdered all he met: all in all, five workers and a security guard.

He later began to tinker with the original chemical, hoarding the remaining test tubes and hiding his transformation from his family and co-workers. The transformation reversed after a day and Freeland was horrified at what he had done. He was blindsided by his dark instincts, his thirst for violence. While he attempted to ignore the growing need to transform again, Freeland eventually gave in and from that moment he was dominated by the Bogeyman persona.

He moved to the United States where he sought to refine the chemical he had stolen. He travelled to San Diego where he found work with another C.L.A.W. lab, volunteering his services to the criminal organisation. The arrangement was short lived, and the Bogeyman went freelance soon after.

His activities turned from the basic robbery to a more intricate and deadly game of stalking and murder. While he began his American career killing young women, he inevitably shifted his attention to children becoming one of the most hated ubers in history. His actions drew the attention of hostage specialist, Dr Howard Blechs, and it is possible that the Bogeyman's modus operandi influenced Blechs' decision to later become the Clown King, the modern leader in kidnapping and extortion in the United States.

After wresting control from the Bogeyman identity, Freeland fled America to Dominica where he settled with the money he had stolen as the Bogeyman. He set up a retirement story and lived quietly and simply next to a banana plantation outside of Portsmouth, Dominica. While he was petrified of the ocean, Freeland made the decision to make his new life amongst the small island, knowing that there were many who still hunted him.

He has been in Dominica for ten years, but recently he has begun to feel the urge to return to his Bogeyman life. His sadistic tendencies are coming to the surface and he has been fantasizing about murder again.

Personality

Freeland is tired, a man who has spent most of his adult life wrestling with his darker side. While he is currently in control of his mind, Freeland still exudes a sense of menace. Most of the time he is timid: a stereotypical Englishman living out his retirement watching cricket in the Caribbean. But his Bogeyman personality is craven, sadistic and growing out of patience. His crimes with children have sickened Freeland, so much so that he feels panic whenever he is in the presence of children; although his Bogeyman persona revels in the thought of murdering them.

Quote

As Freeland: "Oh, I do think there must be some kind of mistake. That couldn't be puh-possible."

As Bogeyman: "Hide, if you like. I can smell your fear like a Sunday roast."

Powers

Freeland is a middle-aged man without any exceptional abilities, but when he imbibes the Bogeyman serum, his body undergoes a physical transformation which enhances his strength, durability and reaction speeds to uberhuman levels. During his time as the Bogeyman, he has collected a variety of weapons including a hand-held harpoon gun which doubles as a grappling hook, hallucinogen fear gas dispensed through explosive pellets, a spray or fired from his claw-like fingertips.

The Bogeyman serum also exudes a pheromone which makes him appear more intimidating and dangerous. The serum is weakened and sometimes neutralised by light, and Bogeyman's prolonged exposure to the serum has made him vulnerable to light and light-based attacks.

To safeguard himself against the ongoing effects of his gas attacks, the Bogeyman wears a gas mask.

Appearance

Freeland is sixty years old and has pale skin, even though he has lived in the Caribbean for a decade. He is rather plump and is bald, giving the impression of a typical bald, white Pom. He has a sore back which inhibits his movements, but he hardly ever hurries anywhere. He dresses for the weather, wearing a light cotton suit jacket and trousers, and a white cricket vest. He almost always wears his white hat with a red feather in the strap.

As the Bogeyman he wears his trademark gas mask which consists of a menacing tube and lens over his eyes which make them appear red and yellow. He shrouds himself in a dark cloak and wears a light weight armoured costume of dark grey with red and yellow highlights. His hands are gloved and the fingertips are razor sharp, the claws are tipped with the fear gas, and are capable of being launched over short distances. He keeps his harpoon gun under his cloak.

Notes

I probably should have worked this character up as a Multiform because the stats are a bit confusing with the slashes (Human and Bogeyman forms). I wanted to emphasise the human form because that's the one which is dominant at the moment and the reason he is in Dominica.

When the Bogeyman regains dominance he'll no doubt terrorise Dominica and then head back to the harvest lands of the USA.

#50 HURRICANE (Dominican Republic)

hurricane.jpg

HURRICANE

Jorge Ricardo Bolivar

Character Sheet (HTM)

Background

Hurricane got his name during his first week on the job as a coast guard, fresh out of the academy. He and his partner were trapped in what was supposed to be an old fisherman's boat during a hurricane. They had planned to be in and out within minutes, but they stumbled onto a smuggling racket and were held prisoner by the bandits just as the storm approached. The bandits planned to kill the coast guard and escape on the patrol boat, and they would have succeeded if Ric Bolivar hadn't pulled himself loose of the rope which bound him, and stumbled to the engine house where he rigged the engines to start again. He called for help and then returned to his partner and weathered part of the storm before being rescued by more advanced boats. His bravery earned him respect on the job as well as the moniker which has stayed with him ever since. He transferred to the police department a year later when his father fell ill.

Ric Bolivar became a second generation policeman, brought up in a family dominated by a father who was battling all his adult life against corruption and politics amongst the Dominican Republic's security forces. In recent times there had been more stability in the political realm of the republic, but Ric's father has never really dealt with the constant threats and insecurity. A broken man, Ric's father has spent the last few years in an institution outside the capital. Ric visits him weekly, along with his mother and three sisters, but his father is deteriorating.

Ric is currently caught between his father's legacy to become a solid and moral officer of the law, and his desire to fully explore his burgeoning uberhuman ability to fly. He has never attempted to hide the fact that he is an uber and the police force has accepted him as a regular officer who happens to be able to fly. However, Ric also has dreams of becoming a hero, not just a policeman. He sometimes wonders what it would be like to leave the Dominican Republic and live in America.

But his father keeps bringing him back. There is tradition and it weighs heavily on him.

Personality

Ric Bolivar is a good cop, having been brought up in a policeman's home. Ever since he could read, he has been reading books on police culture and criminal law. He is well respected in the force, and people either love him for his ability to fly, or else they pretend to not know about it. Overall Ric has no problems with his uberhuman abilities.

He loves his family, especially his father who has developed severe depression since retiring from the police force. Ric feels that his own life is being put on hold while his father slowly exits this life. The doctors have discovered cancer in Ric's father's lungs and they believe he only has a year to live. Ric sees this as a blessing, although he would never admit this to himself or others.

Quote

"The law doesn't operate on a two-dimensional plane - it can come down from above too, just wait and see."

Powers

Ric has the ability to fly in excess of 160kmph, but is otherwise a regular, athletic male in his twenties. He has developed a lot of aerial maneuvers which make him very difficult to track and hit while he is in the air. Hurricane is his nickname on the Force and he doesn't have a distinctive costume or separate identity.

Appearance

While on the job, Ric wears a police uniform, over which he usually wears a lightly armoured vest. Ric also wears flight goggles when he remembers. Out of uniform, he appears as a relaxed and friendly man with dark olive skin and wavy brown hair. He is tall, but not particularly muscle-bound.
