WWYCD? Faerie Tale theatre

Hermit

Recommended Posts

Inspired by the Shadow Queen, the land of Faerie in the Mystic Worlds, and, of course, Kitty's Faerie Tale from the X-men

Your character is pursuing an odd little man guilty of an odd crime (Stealing gold while sneering at paper money, kidnapping a kid leaving spun gold behind, or perhaps having done something weird to the cows) and finds him/herself stepping through a mushroom ring.

Faster than you can say Jack The Giant Killer Robinson, your character arrives in Faerie, that land where all myth and legend ever dreamt of lays. It would seem you are definitely in the Faerie tale section. Normal methods you might have to return are not working for some reason. It would appear you need to find someone or someway back. However, that's not all...

The longer you stay, the more Faerie tries to make you fit. Be it gallant knight, wise hermit (no bias), dashing outlaw, fair damsel, warrior queen, powerful wizard/sorceress, it would seem the dimension is trying to fit you into a niche. This is not entirely bad, as it seems to give you up to 20 points worth of goodies or bonuses related to your new role IF you choose to draw on it, but doing so carries risks. The more you accept your role, the more power you may have, but the stronger the lands hold on you, and the more it changes even your mindset. Stay here too long, use too much of what it offers you, and you might even forget TO go home.

So what does your character do? What role would the Fay realm try to shove him or her into, and how much would your character risk giving in by drawing on that role's extra power?

Definatly different Hermit. As far as role, hmm. I would have to say, assuming he was lucky, the "White Knight." But even more likely is the hero before the Hero(note the small 'h'). This is the Hero that is amazing and wonderful that the damnsil falls inlove with but when push comes to shove, he is to much of a 'pretty boy' to get his hands dirty and save her. Although that ins't what the Rose would do in real life, it is the place he might be expected to fit into.

As far as how hard he would use the new found powers or other such things. Probably more often then not. He is very egocentric and believes he can overcome everything. So even if he knew that the Realm would try and claime him everytime he used the new found gifts, even though he knew he would lose that much more of 'himself' he wouldn't consider it a real threat and continue. After all "I am the The Rose, and I do NOT losse!" ---mantra of 'The Rose'. Now of course the GM is the one that decides how well that works and whether he learns a life lession or Overcomes or is doomed by his errogance.

Millennium "You say that as if it were a bad thing." He believes he is the living incarnation of the Hero With A Thousand Faces, so has no trouble adapting to the new circumstances. Warrior (Knight) and Trickster.

Snow Leopard Strong women in these stories are always described as "Evil" or "Wicked." Get home ASAP!

Iron Will One Changling, to order.

Stay?

Why, how delightful of you to offer. I'm flattered really. You do me too much honor.

No. None of my characters would stay there, who weren't Fae already, or didn't have inherent means to escape.

Champion Wind probably wouldn't even notice: She's already a four way archetype of the hero with a double life, the warrior of the light, and the magician's daughter on *both* sides.

Titania would be a particularly flamboyant Trickster.

Phoenix... I have no idea.

Tao: The Warrior Queen, no doubt

Shidoku: The rogue with a heart of gold

Valkeyrie: The bashful damsel that must find her courage

Velocity: Headstrong impulsive Hero

Ivy: The Good witch

Eve: The Clever Child (and she would think this was uttery cool)

Style-"OK, why am I in a dress and pointy hat?'

"Five midgets, an androgynous blond, a biker and Fabio?"

"Fine, we'll just get the Eagles to fly us over the volcano. Frell you, we've established that I can get the Eagles to help out, and I'm not walking."

"Great, the big disembodied eye fell over, the bald midget is dead, Fabio gets spooky girl, and you guys got to kill a large number of butch bottoms. Can I go home now?"

"At least they cut the crappy poetry."

Jake the Troll - deals with fairly-tale type wierdness on a weekly basis. Wouldn't notice any change from the usual. He's Myth Made Manifest, so it wouldn't really affect him. (he defines, rather than is defined by, the Troll Archtype.)

Icon - A great deal of Emma's self-identity is bound up in being an Icon of justice as a means of dealing with her crappy past. She'd likely end up as a Paladin or Chevalier of some sort. She'd probably get a bit too deep into the role, and would have to be pulled out by her friends/allies.

Shinji Miromoto - has officially been called a Jack by the Winter Court: a mortal who overcomes great odds by cleverness and luck, rather than power. If left to himself, he'd probably assume the archetype of the Mysterious Wizard. However, he knows enough about the detrimental effects of exposing oneself to dimensional energies, so he'd skedaddle as quickly as possible.

Re: WWYCD? Faerie Tale theatre

Jack-a-Dandy is part faerie on his father's side anyway so he'd fit right in. He'd be particularly ticked off about being back in "that infernal madhouse" but then he's ticked off about something most of the time anyway. Faerie would probably try to shape him into the role of sinister dark prince, and his extra points would go toward an aura of menace affecting all fay beings (since they would sense his bloodline).

So long as he didn't run into any of his relatives (the ones that he hasn't yet killed) he'd be okay.

Hmmms. Truman Golightly ( aka Zero) would want out as soon as possible - he has enough trouble coping with reality, without ended up a spineless henchbeing in the Lands Beyond The Fields We Know.

Vitus would first wonder what the **** the Sidhe are up to now, and all too easily settle into the role of Evil Wizard. He's already big on using living beings as cannon fodder, and knows quite a bit about metallurgy and invention, and is much less inclined to monologue when there's someone he's decided is more useful dead. Saruman eat your heart out.

( he might find the temperate climate annoying and move south to Harad tho.)

Re: WWYCD? Faerie Tale theatre

Soulbarb might get thrust into the role of 'Evil Demon Sorceress/Queen' complete with the ability to cast spells.

The street level version of Soulbarb would be intrigued by the ability to use magic (never having had the ability to do so before) but would quickly figure out that it was addicting in some sense. Since Soulbarb has no interest in being typecast that way she would quickly postpone magical experimentations and turn her attention to getting out of there, though this could prove to be the catalyst Soulbarb needs to unlock her magical potential once she returns home. A more experienced version of Soulbarb would have already unlocked that potential and the land of the Faerie would have little to offer her in that regard.

Alternatively, Soulbarb might get thrust into the role of 'Misunderstood Monster', which she could handle a bit better, though there might be a bit too much moping and angst involved for her. She's more of a 'take charge and fix the problem' kind of girl.

Aquatic- Mmm, Warrior of Atlantis anyone? Or perhaps a full merman, tail and all. As a half breed he could also fit the outsider motiff, the word Barbarian comes to mind.

Banner- Red, White, and Blue Robin Hood type, with a staff.

Gaze- The sorcerer with the power of the Evil Eye.

Mole- Definitely a warrior bard if he had more influence, but if not careful he could be turned into some tunneling creature.
