Disney: This planet has a severe population deficit. This is caused by two factors: First, children appearently appear by spontaneous generation, since no one has any idea of the existance of the sex act. Secondly, mothers tend to die off before their daughters reach puberty.

 

While few animals are capable of speech, many are fully intelligent, and usually smarter than the humans.

 

The planet has been placed under quarentine due to the alarming incedence of sudden onset diabetes in off planet visitors.

Kneale: This planet has been periodically invaded by inhuman entities for millions of years. (The populace is in fact descended from a failed attempt by a race of psionic anthropods to ensure their psychic,if not physical, survival.)

On this world,planetary defense is generally assigned to the scientists,as most military on this planet tend to be hidebound and dictatorial,as do the politicians. In general,this worlds technology is about 20th-century level,though the aforesaid scientists tend to have the occasional advanced gadget available.

Clement : Isn't. Insanely high gravity, rotation, extremes of temperature, density of atmosphere, and more. Weather for the day might include carbon dioxide fog or raindrops forty feet wide. Despite all this, enjoys a thriving ecosystem and no shortage of scientific expeditions despite the number of disasters that leave them stranded.

Pournellion: Present day Earth but with Alderson drives, off world gulags and penal colonies for petty criminals, those who disagree, and who can’t pay the bills. Meanwhile, cultural philosophies polarize to the point of genocidal anger as a few military men and transhumanist scientists act on their own angles for a way out to carve their own kingdoms before the lights go out on the dystopic, corrupt civilization.

Bradbury: A planet with a profound cultural aversion to any form of communications technology invented after 1860. Radio, telephones, television and all their lineal descendants on to datajacks and virtual reality are regarded as corrosive to the sense of community. Telegraphy and telegrams are as far as they are prepared to go. As a result many entertainment forms almost entirely forgotten elsewhere still thrive on Bradbury such as carnivals, but they also have a small number of telepaths who entertain with the ability to project illusions into people's minds.

Cameron: On Pan-Cameron-426, technology is a plague. It backfires on the inhabitants at critical moments, is used to subjugate the inhabitants, or both. Without exception. For some reason, a significant proportion of the population suffers from a total lack of common sense, which may explain why they keep relying on technology.

 

Lovecraft: You can't handle this planet. If you try, you will mercifully go insane instead. Also notable for its unusual art and architecture.

Anthony what has already been said plus the good guys are all strong and virile, while the women are all beautiful* and exist for the... benefit (yeah, let's use that word) of the aforementioned men. The women are not only okay with this but embrace their role in society.

 

*extremely rare exceptions such as Chameleon who is ugly part of each month.

A little-known fact about Weberworld: although the vast majority of people living

there are unaware of it, their world is home to lifeforms that shouldn't exist -- but

do. For the most part, they are content to stay in the background and "off the radar"

as far as the human population is concerned -- but let a threat to the human popul-

ation rear its ugly head, and it's Katy Bar The Door and God help the poor dumb

SOBs (alien or otherwise) who are up to no good where humanity is concerned.

 

Sometimes, though, it's not an entire group coming to the rescue, but a single entity

of great power. In such cases, said entity will often join its essence to a chosen human

being (usually under circumstances which aren't the best where the chosen human is

concerned), sometimes with the effect of awakening latent abilities within him (or

her).
