Father Patrick told Mary to go to her apartment, take her pillow to the roof, stab it with a knife, empty the feathers onto the roof of the building and then come back and see him. When she returns and tells Father Patrick she had done as he asked, he then told her to go back home and put all of the feathers back into the pillow. Mary exclaims, "But Father, they've blown all over the city by now! How can I tell where they've traveled?". Father Patrick replies, "And that, Mary, is why gossip IS A SIN! The student expected Mead to talk about clay pots, tools for hunting, grinding-stones, or religious artifacts. Instead she said the first evidence of civilization was a healed 15,000 years old fractured femur, a very painful injury that takes 6 weeks of rest to heal.
