Overwatch new video game inspiration

Blizzards new game OVERWATCH seems like it will be full of character inspiration, seems to be similar to team fortress a first person shooter with a variety of specialities, this time super heroes instead of mercenaries.

Yeah, Overwatch is Blizzard's first real foray into first person shooters. They had started to do so once before with StarCraft-Ghost but that never got out of development. 

As to the question about whether or not it will all be PvP, I think it won't be. I have heard that it might also have various team missions where you aim to achieve an object (Think FPS version of WoW) but that was speculative so I am not sure. But time will tell. I might actually pick it up and try the FPS genre again. Golden Eye was the last FPS I actually played and liked.

Of course I would look forward to seeing these characters appearing in Blizzard's crossover continuity in  Heroes of the Storm. That might even be a selling point for them (buy early, get X Overwatch character unlocked in HotS). 

 

Blizzard has such a good graphics team that it is almost a shame they don't make actual movies or TV shows (other than the WoW one that is being made).

Background/History:  The former Overwatch agent known as Tracer is a time-jumping adventurer and an irrepressible force for good.

 

Lena Oxton (call sign: "Tracer") was the youngest person ever inducted into Overwatch's experimental flight program. Known for her fearless piloting skills, she was handpicked to test the prototype of a teleporting fighter, the Slipstream. But during its first flight, the aircraft's teleportation matrix malfunctioned, and it disappeared. Lena was presumed dead.

 

She reappeared months later, but her ordeal had greatly changed her: her molecules had been desynchronized from the flow of time. Suffering from "chronal disassociation," she was a living ghost, disappearing for hours and days at a time. Even for the brief moments she was present, she was unable to maintain physical form.

 

Overwatch's doctors and scientists were stumped, and Tracer's case seemed hopeless until a scientist named Winston designed the chronal accelerator, a device capable of keeping Tracer anchored in the present. In addition, it gave Tracer the ability to control her own time, allowing her to speed it up and slow it down at will. With her newfound skills, she became one of Overwatch's most effective agents.

 

Since Overwatch's dissolution, Tracer has continued to right wrongs and fight the good fight wherever the opportunity presents itself.

 

Personality/Motivation:

Tracer rapid-fires both of her pistols.

 

 

BLINK

Tracer zips horizontally through space in the direction she’s moving, and reappears several yards away. She stores up to three charges of the blink ability and generates more every few seconds.

 

 

RECALL

Tracer bounds backward in time, returning her health, ammo and position on the map to precisely where they were a few seconds before.

 

PULSE BOMB ULTIMATE ABILITY

Tracer lobs a large bomb that adheres to any surface or unfortunate opponent it lands on. After a brief delay, the bomb explodes, dealing high damage to all enemies within its blast radius.

So, sounds like it will be team vs. team co-op/competitive PvP play...

Most certainly it will have various PvP options like all other FPSs. But I was hearing that it might also have PvComp options as well. That is what I am waiting to hear get confirmed and what I was trying to mention. Sorry for my less than clear articulation on that.
