Narosia - Sea of Tears - is it worth my money

Since I found out - at least that is what I have read so far - is Narosia - Sea of Tears a rpg based on teh HERO System.

Has anyone any experience with it? I sthe setting any good?

 

The comments I hace read so far are quite in favour of the world, the rules, basically everything.

 

So, what do you say, fellow Herophiles?

I found it to be an excellent fantasy world, and the standard skills and powers have been modified in detail to reflect the underlying rules for this world.

Sad, but true, when Narosia was first Kickstarted, I was so psyched about it. By the time all the technical and other difficulties were sorted through, I lost interest in the fantasy genre. I'm waiting to get back that spark so that I can take a look to judge with an eager eye.

 

That said, the bits that I have seen look good.

And what's it with HERO products and stellar layout? Narosia is thoroughly indexed and very readable. 

 

One negative part of the whole deal is that you have to buy hardcopy and PDF separately, if both were handled by DriveThru, you usually get a nice package deal (most of the time the PDF comes for free).

Odd.  I just bought the book+pdf from the Hero Store ($35) and it came with the book pdf and Divine Intervention cards pdf.

 

The pdf only is $20.

I'm only about 25% of the way through Narosia, but I like the depth of the setting and tweaking of Hero System rules to get the desired effects.  Providing that you like the setting, it answers one big issue that many folx have with Hero System - the lack of a setting (as in Fantasy Hero Complete and Champions Complete).

 

Question for the authors:  In multiple places, Narosia mentions future supplements to fill in elements that are not included in the (480 page!) book.  Is there any schedule/plan for those supplements?  (And yes, I'm aware of the delays in publishing the core book, although I was not a Kickstarter backer.)

I haven't read it yet. Like Nolgroth, but the time it finally got to me I kind of didn't care anymore. I'll probably sit down and read it this summer though.

I've poked at it, and while I lost my enthusiasm for the project along the way, I have to say that it delivers. It's an interesting setting and a fine bit of rules crafting. It could use more supplements, but what RPG setting couldn't?
