Steve
I had this odd notion strike me, wondering what a faithful lab assistant like Dr. Frankenstein's Igor would be like for some of the CU's supervillains. Could you see Doctor Destroyer with a faithful minion like Igor?
Dead guy on tab
I believe his name is Professor Muerte at least until a lava pit came between them.
Lord Liaden
Actually, the precedents suggest he'd be less like Igor, and more like the monster. That is, a creation of the main scientist. There are in fact a few created characters in the current CU canon who fill such a role for their creators. For example, Dr. Silverback was mutated to sapience by Dr. Moreau, and became Moreau's principle collaborator in creating other "manimals." The Overbrain, leader of the Brain Trust villain team, created his loyal minion Ape-Plus as a deliberate, "Anything you can do..." to Moreau. The villain Harpy can change into a powerful bird-woman, via a formula developed by the legendary alchemist Zarrindokt, after the latter hired her to be her assistant. The scientist-hero of Japan called Gadget Boy built a faithful robot companion which he named Gokin. And that leads to the category of artificially intelligent followers: Dr. Destroyer himself considers his AI Sennacherib to be his most reliable and valuable servant. BoloOfEarth
IIRC, Muerte created* Giganto, his most faithful follower. *By created, I mean he empowered a previously normal person. He didn't build him from scratch.
Durzan Malakim
Supervillains need assistants that simultaneously meet and defy expectations such as Young Frankenstein's EYE-GORE.
