Lord Liaden
The longer I'm on these boards the more I see that someone has an idea in which the best way to represent it is to mofify the existing rules. "Best" is a much more subjective evaluation than many people realize. It often involves a lot of "what I personally like."
NuSoardGraphite
Resistant Mental Defense is a thing because historically, though rare, BOECV Killing Attacks have been a thing.
Mister E
That's how we do it. No such thing as resistant flash defense. That's like having an NND where the defense is "never having been in my kitchen". Cliff Clavin on Jeopardy: Cheers
dsatow
IMHO, I believe resistant special defenses are dependent on your GM. In an ESPer game, resistant mental defense may be such a thing, but maybe not in a standard Champions game. Similarly, resistant flash defense may be real to prevent long term blinding of a sense. The GM, I expect, would have to make the say as to whether to allow it. Personally, except for maybe mental defense, I probably would not allow it. Lord Liaden
And what the GM allows should definitely be the final arbitration of the matter, in every campaign. But different GMs will have different views of what's allowable. As I said earlier, I believe it's fair to have the option in the rules. From a meta-game perspective, allowing Resistant to apply to exotic Defenses makes it consistent with the modular nature of other generally-applicable Advantages. Cantriped
While I accept the existance of Resistant Exotic Defenses, I don't generally build Attack Powers which require them as their defense. Because there aren't any effects which natively require them, it doesn't strike me as being very fair to expect the players to have them. Ninja-Bear
"Best" is a much more subjective evaluation than many people realize. It often involves a lot of "what I personally like." I agree with that 100 %. And in the end that I think is what really matters.
