A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."

The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're 30 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude."

She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Democrat."

"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"

"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."

The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Republican."

"I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"

"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you're going. You've risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, then you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met but, somehow, now it's my fault."

Since I just now registered on this board (yeah I know it took me forever) I thought I'd post a pic of my namesake (well on this board anyway)
Wildcat is a character I've had for over 20 yrs, and he's gone through many incarnations during that ime. But this pic is the one I normally stick with (well for the last 7-8 yrs)

Hope you like it, I've go more if anyone wants to see.

Here is my character, Silverwing. He was penciled by me and inked by Champions artist Barry Winston in 1988, and photoshopped by me in 2002. He was placed over the LexCorp background picture from the Superman Animation Cel Painting Kit.

Capsule Review of Crossroads of Twilight
    by Robert Jordan
    846 pages paperback
    2003 Tor Fantasy

Crossroads of Twilight is Book 10 in Robert Jordan's series The Wheel of Time. For those of you who've given up by now, like I should have: Mat and his prophesied fiancee Tuon are on the run from the Seanchan invaders after escaping Ebou Dar. Jordan takes three chapters and 73 pages to convey this point. He spends at least two pages detailing the laundry chores Faile is forced to perform since getting enslaved by the Shaido. Elayne is in the morning-sickness phase of pregnancy; at this rate she'll give birth around Book 20. No, Egwene STILL hasn't seized Tar Valon, and is unlikely to do so in the next book (ok, I skipped to the end). In fact, the book doesn't get to Egwene until page 469 and doesn't get to Rand until the end.
Hey, Robert, wake me up when something happens, okay?

Re: f/u Grab: Throwing & Squeezing after initial Grab

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "either" roll. If a character attempts a Grab and misses, he's never going to get to the "Throw" stage of things in the first place, so the Throw rules don't come into play. Only if the character has to make an Attack Roll with his Throw -- either to perform it at all, or if he's trying to hit a specific target with the Thrown character/object -- are the "miss" rules going to come into play.

If what you're asking is, "Can a character Throw a Grabbed person in an effort to hit another target (such as another character or a specific hex), miss that target, but still inflict Throw damage on the Thrown person?", then the answer is "No." There aren't any provisions in the rules for that; a miss is a miss. The GM could alter that if he likes, but generally the rules don't let a character miss/fail and still obtain some measure of success.

And He's Off!The Eve of My DepartureTomorrow I will leave Fort Anze forever. I, Mikael Amante, am off to see the world of my parents. No more of this jungle backwater for me - I go to see civilization. At dawn tomorrow, I will begin the two day journey to Port Rican, and from there, I will head to Amystus, the Old World. It will not be an easy journey, but Jadus will watch over me through my travels. I've only been to Port Rican twice, and never on foot. Today I said goodbye to Warden Amillo and Mistress Gertrud, the cook. Master Dagun sold me everything I'd need for a journey - including my first sword! I've trained with one with the Warden, but this one belongs to me! Well, off to bed - tomorrow is going to be a long day.Day 1What a day! I sit here in the top of a canopi tree, watching the sun set. It's not safe to travel in the dark, not even on the road. Just after lunch, I saw a group of tooth-monkeys (or is it teeth-monkeys?) travel over head. I don't think they saw me though - they were in quite a hurry. Just a little bit before I stopped, I encountered a junginine. It growled at me, but I threatened it off with my sword and a lot of shouting. I've traveled into the Gundillo Jungle before, but it's different when I know I'm going to leave. The bright flowers seem crisper, and the constant thrum of animal noise in the background becomes much more pronounced. And I've never spent the night. My first great adventure!Day 2If I thought yesterday was adventurous, I had no idea what was coming my way today! While I was eating my lunch, I was attacked by a pack of junginines. They must have smelled my food. There were four of them, and I don't think I could have fought them off alone. Luckily, just as they attacked, a Liziscus came to my aid. I've seen lots of the reptile-men before in the trading post, but Warden Amillo always said they were a closed lot, and a bit cruel. He said his name was Izinith (after the fighting, of course!), and he seems quite nice to me. He said he's heading to Amystus as well, and we've decided to try to find a ship together. The gates to Port Rican are closed for the night, but tomorrow Izinith and I will enter and seek out a ship to bear us to Amystus. Tomorrow, I set sail! The Gundillo JunglesOn the northern shore of Vixis, a small continent that could be more accurately described as an island, is the Gundillo Jungle. A large jungle that takes an experienced guide a month to cross on foot, the Gundillo is home to many of the Liziscus, the reptile men. The Liziscus have built dozens of great cities deep within the jungle, and while many of the cities welcome other races, their location makes them almost unknown to the other races. The Great Races (specifically Men and Tritons) have made a very small foothold in the Gundillo, in the form of a small Port Rican and two smaller subsidiary trading posts - Fort Anze to the west and Fort Crino to the southeast. The jungle is home to a wide variety of flora worth finding and fauna worth hunting, but the Gundillo is famous for the much prized nibiscus flower (whose petals can make both an addictive narcotic and a deadly poison) and the famous skins of the Gundillo Cobra. The Liziscus

Here's another manip I did. Cavalier was a soldier working for a secret project (secretely controlled by Viper) that would allow a person to "phase into" a suit of power armor. The exact process was never defined by the character, but he meant for it to combine magic and technology. He always intended for it to be defined later on down the road.
