    Iowa Heroes

My fellow Iowan RavenPath is correct and with ISU experiments and investigation into Animal disease, it does have potential for some scenario. But thinking of it, a Great Plain Super team that handles several States, I would base it in Omaha (okay its Nebraska, but as a friend of mine that was from Lincoln said, its a whole different place from the rest of the State). That way the Team can respond quickly to other state (Iowa, South Dakota, Missouri, Kansas and of course Nebraska). Also with Offet Airbase (Sp?) nearby, military support or at the very a least a tarmac to park the teams jet. G
  2. I was thinking the other night of heroes who were children of major villains and came across the idea of children who would come from unlikely matches. For example: Istvatha V'han And Doctor Destroyer Any other out there? G

Pork Queen: After being doused with genetically enchanced BBQ sauce Janet Jones now fights crime and attends sporting events as the Pork Queen. The young lady who doused our Janet was upset for not winning the her county Pork Queen contest. So stealing her father BBQ sauce (he actually works for Viper's Coop division) she attacked. Pork Queen Abilities: Can eat almost anything (true Omnivore) Speak with Pigs Fangs High Pitch Squeal (can damage or summon pigs)

The only problem with an Iowa superteam is that there would be nothing to do. Most super villians like Don Johnson and Ashton Kercher have already left the state and so would most other super villians. So the most any super team would ever have to do is attend events like the fair and guard the pig (forgot his name) for the Iowa vs Minnesota football game. Now on the other hand just so we have a team and to keep the state population from dropping (by 5 to 10 depending on the team size), our governor would give tax breaks and grants to keep a team here. But is it really heroic to threaten to move to South Dakota if the team doesn't get more grants and tax cuts? Anyway if I gained Super powers I would at least head to Chicago. G
  5. Also using one of those many programs that come with Windows Xp (ie Microsoft Publisher) and clean edge business cards from Avery, you can print your own. It's quick and if you have a Photo/Picture editor you can customize the look. G
  6. It is from Ringu. I have enjoyed Ringu ever since I got my copy from Britain (I actually saw the American version first, but the Japanese version is better IMHO). I got the pic from J Lopez's Ringworld (See link below). G http://ringworld.somrux.com/index.htm
  7. I hope that the costume is also one of things that change along with Race and Gender Susano G
  8. Hates Women who laugh at him: I would call this uncommon (5pts) and given hate is a strong emotion I would go no lower then strong (another 5pts) for a total of 10. But I would make sure the person plays it and would actively finds way to deal with the lady that had laugh at him (or her.. Carrie anyone?). Otherwise it would only be a quirk. Remember it stops being a quirk when it begins to have a major impact on a persons life. G
  9. I don't dare make Sadako (from the original Ring). If I did everyone who read the character would have to copy it and pass it on or die in seven days. Then suddenly she would be on every web site on the web and I would of brought on the end of the world. G
  10. I agree totally. BTW according to the Movie Database, there is a Firefly movie in the work if Joss can get the cast back together. G
  11. Just a curious, what did all you out in Herodom think of the new miniseries for Battlestar Galactica. I for one found it very interesting and alot less cheese then the original (but I still like the original, so please no flames). Also curious if anyone is thinking on doing any write ups for the series? G
  12. Switched: In this episode Flare Chylde from the Rad Ten and Flame Lion from the Boston Defenders trade teams and places. Can these two super power teen live each other lives, tune in tomorrow. Miki's Life: As the camera's follow Miki around you the viewers get to decide what choices she makes. This week you get to decide whether she will go to the Idol singer contest or try out to be a Mecha pilot. G

    Tomie

While I may keep the regeneration (albeit at a lower level) I like the summon idea. In the manga it was implied that she could come back from almost nothing left, but I agree for the sake of the world being overrun by Tomie, larger parts would more sense (and it is even arguable that is the case). Also I like your suggestion about lowering the transform and adding cumulative to it. As for using her, go for it, the original idea wasn’t mind to begin with. G

    Tomie

All right I meant to get this done for Halloween but RL comes first. After reading the manga and seeing the movie, I have tried to come up with a write up for Tomie. This is a first draft and I hope some suggestion for polishing her. I am hoping to submit it to Surbrook’s site once I can get some suggestion and balance her out. Tomie by all appearances has been around for a very long time. Some of the early records from the Meiji period show that she was around even then. Her origins are a mystery, but what it is known is that she is a monster that feeds on society. In some ways she is the ultimate Ko-gal. She cares little for the people she crushes and warp on her way. What she does care about is living the good life and acquiring stuff. In this way she uses her feminine wiles to corrupt the men around her to do her biddings. She has even been known to mind control women into acts they normally wouldn’t do. The toughest thing about her is that she can’t be killed. Even if one blood cell is left, it will grow into Tomie complete with memories. That beings said, more then one of her can be around at any given time, making it very difficult to stop her. But each Tomie, hates any other Tomie existing and will actively seek to destroy the other. Tomie is lonely though and is hurt when friends leave her. She is jealous of normal girls who can leave adolescence behind and raise a family. She is the eternal shallow teen-age girl who watches as her friends move on while she strives to feel alive. This is her greatest tragedy, but one which she can find salve through wealth. Tomie is by Junji Ito from Comics One and is a Major Motion picture from Japan. Designer notes: 1. I didn’t give Tomie duplication because it didn’t fit the situation entirely and I felt it would be up to the GM to determine how many are around at any given time. 2. The Manga has everything from strange mass Tomie creature (Like a Hydra but with hundreds of female heads, arms and torsos from one body) to taking over another girl’s body after a kidney transplant from Tomie to her hair having strange supernatural powers. While they are all interesting, I decided to solidify her powers to a more concrete form like they were in the movie. 17. I have a player who wants to create a Cryokinetic and wants to be able to lower the temp to a point where lock won't turn (and moving part) and cars won't start. So can this be handle with suppress (mechanical parts) or is there another way? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanx in Advance G
  18. Looks good Susano as normal. Always wondered about an anime like scenario set in the Hyborian age. Maybe a story of a little girl who after being recused by Conan decides to grow up to emulate him (ala Utena). 19. How about an online Grimoire like the online USPD. It could be interesting to see the type of spells we GM and players can come up with. As a supplement there could also be a online magic item list too. Okay, I know you guys at Hero are really busy and don't need one more distraction like scanning through stuff we send in to determine postabilty, so I understand if something like this doesn't happen. After all I enjoy having great books like the Grimoire to use and want to see more of them. G
  20. I have two suggestion for you. 1. Just create a new figured stat that would cover sanity (Possibly a combination of Ego and Presence). Depending on how fast you want them to go crazy it could be (Pre+Ego)/2 or (Pre+Ego)*2 or higher. Then figure up the penalties for each monster or headless corspe to the base roll (which probably should be the (Pre+Ego)/2). Then drain the sanity on failed rolls. 2. The most important thing is to find the right players. Too often players approach horror like they do a fantasy game. So what is the monster, what do I have to do to defeat it and so on. Thus they take a third person approach to the scenario and distance themselves from what is going on. Now if you find players that can get into their character, then good description will handle most of the frightening aspects without adding any new stat. G
  21. I like the character there Mike. This got me thinking of a vampire school girl who to keep from getting bored, picks a mortal that she will on purpose make into an adversary. The mortal is always someone with talent and the brains to use them. Then begins a game of cat and mouse with our vampiress in full control of the game. But of course complications can arise from other supernatural things interupting the game. Any way good character, it got me to thinking. G
  22. Been a couple of month since I played the Game, but at a glance it looks good. The only thing I would do different is list only a few of her special attacks under Ether Circuit Magic and then just list the rest somewhere as add ons. This would allow any one playing her a chance to build her to what she was at the end of the game instead of beginning with her that strong (and give them a guide for it) G
  23. Why just stick with dice of same side. how about a d10 and d8 evens out the curve and keeps the number pretty much the same. But really I would just stick with the d6s, after all the system was designed to work around them. G
  24. Hanako of the Toilet is a Japanese toilet ghost that has been scaring school children for a number of years. Versions of her have appeared in a number of animes for example; Dirty Pair Flash and Haunted Junction. In Dirty Pair Flash she is a hologram of a dead girl with a baby emulating from one of the stall. She so frightens Kei that she started shooting at everything. By the end of the episode, the hologram is stuck in the on position and when one girl says that they can’t be rid of her, Hanako smiles a wicked smile. While in Haunted Junction, she one of many ghost that haunt the school. There have also been books and movies centering on her and other ghost of Japanese Urban Legends. Her legend varies from region to region and school to school. Believed to be the evolution of a toilet kami, Hanako can be very helpful (some stories say she will hand a girl toilet paper from the toilet if the girl uses her stall). Some stories even say she will help protect her summoner from other ghosts. She can be mischievous though. This varies from knocking on the stall and hearing her answer but opening it up to find no one there to dousing the girl using her stall with blood (this has led some to believe that there is connection with the menstrual cycle and the legend). Then there is the darker side of her, a demoness that will grab any body who dares to summon her and drag them down to the pit of hell or maybe just kill them. The basic story is that of a young girl who died in the toilet. Some say it was during a bombing raid during the war while others say that she committed suicide and thus haunt the toilet and yet other says she met some other untimely end there. To summon her, you must go to the stall in which she died in (or is associated with her) and knock on it and call her name. She will then appear and depending on what legend you hear, help or hurt you (at very least played a trick on you). As an option you can even have it be a boy’s bathroom that she haunts. After all schools get rebuilt and remodeled and what was once an all girl school, can become a coed or all boy school. This can take on a double reason why she haunts if a boy is what she committed suicide over. Below I have included a write up of Hanako using the Ghost from Hero Bestiary as a starting point. I went with her being a nasty creature, but with a little tailoring and adjustment of the points she can be made to fit any of the legends that surround her.
