  1. Re: Shrinky Dink Heroes

I can find cardstock at my local Wally World. comes in big packs and is usually near the printing paper in the office supplies isle. but it also tends to sell out quick too.

Just bought a package for myself an hour ago. Right where cutsleeve said, Georgia-Pacific brand, 110# weight, 150 sheets for $5.

  2. Re: How to kill a PC?

Have Dr. Destroyer return, after supposedly being gone for good, bent on destroying a whole city. He fights your heroes, and fires an energy beam from his orbiting satellite weapons platform. This destroys the city, as well as killing his heroic opponents.

    What? That's been done already?

    Never mind...

    >SNIP<

Find something to put under miniatures to mark them as flying. I have yet to find a good trick for this, but it helps to have something.

    >SNIP<

That's what you use all your d12's for (you know, the one's from your AD&D days, that you kept but never use). Turn the d12 so that the number that the mini is standing on is the altitude in inches (up to 12" anyway). Turn them as the character flies up or down. They're stable, and if you're character is more than 12" up he's probably running away anyway. :D

  4. Re: Why are there never any Fantasy Hero games at the Cons?

    >SNIP<

In a four hour time slot (the norm for the conventions I've been to) all you can do with Champions is get to pahse 3 of the first combat... For Fantasy Hero though, you could manage a whole miniature scenerio.

    >SNIP<

This is not always true. It would depend on the players involved (and the number of players), the scenario being played, the GM(s) running the game, etc. Many years ago a buddy of mine and I wrote a scenario for 6 players, to be run in a 4 hour slot. It involved being called in to a crime scene, detective work, a combat with a powerful single opponent (the "mistaken identity" combat), discovering the location of the actual villians, and a second combat with the 5 standard villians. The players finished the adventure, in BOTH slots that we ran. Having 2 GMs made a big difference. Scott was the primary GM, running the scenario. I helped with the combats, making sure that the next players to act were ready; played the villian characters; and assisted the players with any questions or problems. I realize that the actual roleplaying was limited, but the players still managed to "get into" the characters enough that Scott and I could look at each other and say, "yeah, that was how we pictured those characters when we wrote them up."

And now back to our interupted discussion.

  5. Re: Superhero Images

    Here we go -

Psilord, created and illustrated by Acroyear, coloured by Ian Sokoliwski

hope you all like it (especially Acroyear)

Great job Ian. I'm amazed that it only took you 90 minutes to do that. It takes me almost that long to open Photoshop Elements on my laptop. :D

Would you be willing to do any of the others? I'd like to see a few more.

  6. Re: Superhero Images

    Expediter... "Image style."

    It's horrid, isn't it?

IMO it's actually much better than a lot of the $#it that they published. It's stylized, but the anatomy is still fairly accurate. I kind of like it. :)

  7. Re: GateCrasher Hero

Yeah I'm really excited about this re-visiting of the GateCrashers game... 1st session is tonight (should be mostly character fine tuning) But your right I might not be getting to the Crusaders anytime soon... However now that my Thumb is feeling better I might (BIG MIGHT) attempt to Draw them... and even a pic of SCEPTRE... Not promising anythign but it has been on my mind... and I am itchin to draw again.

Seeing some pics of the Crusaders would be cool. Especially someone else's take on SCEPTRE. I'll be looking forward to steal... I mean seeing them. With all of the pics being posted on the Superhero Images thread (especially Acroyear's old ones) I'm being seriously tempted to pick up the pencil (and a number of erasers) and take a shot at drawing some characters.

So any Ideas for GC?? any worlds I should throw at them... Episodes of SG1 or Sliders that would be fun to RP... or any other movie/show for that matter... I personaly have just gotten very caught up in the whole Cinematic quality that Dark Champions is so perfect to immulate. I think a Woo movie marathon is in order this weekend!!

I'll have to think about this for a while. If I come up with anything interesting, I'll either PM or EM it to you. Good luck with the game tonight.

  9. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread.

Here is a birthday present for RDU Neil... guess there is advantages to having a flaky artist in your gaming group .

Pulse is one of Neil's oldest characters in RDU, but rarely gets played because poor ol' Neil is always doing the GMing!

Suh-weeet pic, Storn. If you wanted to draw me something, my b-day is April 14th.

    :D

  10. Re: Campaign Guidelines/Setting for review/my players

Cheese is for pizzas' date=' not PCs. I don't expect to have to say anything more about this.[/quote']

Sorry to be dense' date=' but I do not know what that first sentence is supposed to mean.[/quote']

I think he's saying that he wants serious characters and writeups. No cheesy, campy characters. Just my .02 worth.

  11. Re: Powers and knacks you favor for your Champions characters

Almost all of my Champs characters can fly. You know the old question: "If you could have 1 superpower, what would it be?" Guess what my answer to that is.

Also, almost all of my characters have different overall personalities, but they usually have one trait in common: the are "Boy Scouts" like Supes or Capt. Marvel.

  12. Re: Has anyone played in a game like this...

Many years ago our group played ourselves in a "Red Dawn" type game using Gamma World. The USSR invaded the US and we sort of became the "Wolverines". I was taken out by a 50cal mounted on a Russian tank, while we were attempting to cross a city street. This was in the 2nd or 3rd session of that game. :weep:

  13. Re: Stats for the original Champions team

Hey Red, I have the original Champions mini-series, as well as a number of the other series that were published. I think they had some of the characters statted out. Let me check and I'll get back to ya. It might not be until tomorrow though, I'm in the middle of some RL stuff right now. I also have two dozen boxes of comics to shift around and look through. I'll be in touch.

  14. Re: AWESOME Cover!

I'm pleased to hear of any and all sales' date=' as long as they're not funded by the proceeds of crime. :bmk:[/quote']

I think I'm OK then, unless you consider sneaking a charge onto the VISA card a crime.

  15. Re: AWESOME Cover!

Storn, I will definitely have to second Mr. Heine's sentiments regarding this cover. It's absolutely incredible. I'm not much of a Dark Champions fan, but since this version will contain all kinds of crunchy, modern, street-level goodness, I've been seriously contemplating its purchase. (For agents and spies and such). I do believe that your cover has sold at least one copy. :bmk:

(I'm sure Steve will be pleased to hear this.) :P

  16. Re: Power build help:Xerox Power

How would you create a character that can not only make duplicates of himself but whatever she happens to be holding at the time. These duplicate items don't nessescarily vanish when her duplicates do. The maxium mass woulkd be about the size of a television set.

Hero is missing the power Create (object ) which would combine body/mass limits with Active points for useful objects' date=' like guns, tanks etc.[/quote']

Steve Long himself discussed this in the Heroglyphs column in Digital Hero #7. The power is called Object Creation. You'll have to check out the issue yourself, I'm not going to post published material. Sorry. :(
