  1. Re: Papermodels For Champions Just putting some finishing touches on a building I've wanted to do for a long time. I'm trying to keep these relatively simple for people.
  2. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine I got it covered Baloo.. it's pretty awesome Egyptoid!
  3. Re: We Loves Us Some Elves, Dwarves, and Orcs For me fantasy works best in a modern context, that's why I am a fan of urban fantasy. I can run an Arthurian campaign in modern times, but I can't run an Arthurian campaign in Arthurian times.. What's up with that?
  4. Re: We Loves Us Some Elves, Dwarves, and Orcs I think we just need better players.http://www.herogames.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif Seriously though, I think not allowing players to play species other than human is just a matter of personal taste. I have had bad experiences with players playing half orcs, half elves, elves, dwarves, gnomes, pixies, etc. Pretty much anything, even human characters, but much less so with human characters. I don't know. I have a hard time running fantasy campaigns. Maybe it's my lack of love for the genre that makes it frustrating for me.
  5. Re: Justice League of America (Silver Age) jmoz, he's in the precrisis Superman Revenge Squad, I thought it was kind of odd too. People must have just liked drawing Mr. Myzy...
  6. Re: Papermodels For Champions http://www.worldworksgames.com/store/index.php?main_page=index Worldsworks has a great little thing going on. We should give them serious pressure to expand the superhero line. http://www.microtactix.com/ Microtactix is working on the website, but I like the easy models they make. One free site is http://www.germy.co.uk/ Just scale up the floorplans or cellar in a graphic editing program and viola, you have the correct scale.
  7. Re: Custom Figures Images Myrlyn... the buildings are rescales I did of Microtactix and Worldworks buildings. Worldworks has some particularly tasty sets.. woo... Figures??? Hmm.. to be honest I'd have to do the recipe thing one by one.. It's been a few years although I am going to do more this month. Hang in there, I'll see what I can do.
  8. Re: Custom Figures Images Remjin, those are awesome!.. The fire trenchcoat guy is a personal favourite. A case got stolen! No way! Las month my friend had his briefcase of characters he'd created in the last 15 years stolen. His last briefcase of characters was stolen 15 years ago... Weird.
  9. Re: What Marvel hero am I remembering? I remember that Avengers book. I only bought it because it had David Letterman. I had no idea who or what an Avengers was. I was a DC kid. Her best incarnation was in Nextwave.
  10. Re: Papermodels For Champions Ok.. here is the first installment. The vending machines are mine, but I believe the coke machine came from another source, the structure anyway.
  11. Re: The Penemue Universe The Fighting Maple Leafs (1940-1946) Founded by a group of seven like-minded powered Capes from across Canada, the Fighting Maple Leafs were propaganda at it’s finest. Artistically weak and uninspired, this comic faced little competition with the wartime banning of American fiction periodical publications under the War Exchange Conservation Act in 1940. The stories were fervently nationalistic and the depictions of the enemy was racist and stereotypical. The stories were serial in nature and were published mostly in black and white. Known as Canadian “whites”, these stories were mostly crudely rendered and poorly realized. The line-up of the stories changed, but the standard seven Capes were: Large Sarge, The Fighting Acadian, Ravenhair, The Human Bomb, Viceroy, Prodigal Sun and Yellowknife. Note: although published at the same time, The Fighting Maple Leafs never crossed over with K.I.N.G. as the publishers were bitter rivals in the Toronto comic book scene. Years later when the properties were owned by the same company, there was some retconning and in 1980 a 10 issue miniseries “Battle Scars” brought K.I.N.G. and The Fighting Maple Leafs together in an epic story about a plot to kidnap Winston Churchill. Story Arcs: 1940-1941 Issues 1-20 Kicking and Screaming: Basically it’s one horrifyingly one-sided battle after another against the Germans who are depicted alternately as goose stepping, effeminate, scaredy cats or baby-eating werewolves who worship pagan gods. Hitler is often beaten up by the heroes and humiliated for comedic effect (dressed up as a girl, urinated upon accidentally then on purpose, served animal feces for a meal, etc.). 1941-1944 Issues 21- 67 Evil On The Run: With the inclusion of Japan in the war things were looking bad for the Allies. Superheroes from all countries banded together to defeat the Axis powers in one battle after another. The battles usually devastated entire cities and killed entire divisions. One notable inclusion was the villainous Jacob Gleet, a half human, half robot killer who dreamed of building a race of machine men that would rule mankind. Jacob’s son Anders would go on to build the monstrous artificial intelligence Control Unit that would threaten Superior City time and time again. 1944-1945 Issues 68-80 With A Bang: Super-powered heroes end the war in Europe and two nuclear bombs end the war in Asia. This leads to the formation of the United Nations and the declaration condemning the use of nuclear weapons and banning the participation of super-powered people from state-sanctioned conflict. 1946 Issues 81- 90 Chasing the Tail: Former war heroes hunt down German war criminals and battle Japanese soldiers who think there’s a war still going on. Poor sales and public disinterest cancel the comic in the fall of 1946.
  12. Re: Have you written a story? I have some Champions characters in a book coming out in November. http://www.amazon.com/Manga-Martial-Arts-Lessons-Fighting/dp/1600610293/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1218515072&sr=1-8
  13. Re: Have you written a story? That's really good advice Querysphinx. Repped.
  14. Re: Justice League of America (Silver Age) Found this online: The Superman Revenge Squad The Superman Revenge Squad is an alliance of super-villains who have - as the gang's name infers - a grudge against the Man of Steel. In pre-Crisis times, the Superman Revenge Squad was a coalition of intergalactic criminal masterminds. Utilizing advanced/alien technologies, this gang repeatedly challenged Superman, but was eventually defeated. Normally, there was never a stand-out member of the Revenge Squad, as it wasn't comprised of Superman's arch-enemies. The Superman Revenge Squad would distinguish itself by attacking our hero in unison, in a united effort to eliminate the Man of Tomorrow. One assemblage of the Revenge Squad tried to employ Eterno - an invincible, titanic android - in order to annihilate Superman. This plot ended in doom, as the Revenge Squad was wiped out, unable to control Eterno. Another formation of the Superman Revenge Squad attacked both Superman and Batman, as it united with the Batman Revenge Squad. This incarnation of the SRS appeared in bald heads, possibly to honor Lex Luthor; and wore rogue versions of the Superman costume, with the S-shield made out of kryptonite, so that Superman wouldn't be able to harm the individual members. Despite the flamboyant fatigues, the SRS and the BRS met defeat. In post-Crisis continuity, Morgan Edge formed his own version of the Superman Revenge Squad, this one composed of notorious super-villains: Anomaly, Barrage, Maxima, Misa, and Riot were united to take out Superman. However, a definite lack of cohesion, and conflicting agendas allowed Superman to overcome the Squad. Later the Superman Revenge Squad reformed: Rock, Parasite, Barrage and Baud. Superman managed to defeat them as well. First Appearance: (Historical) ACT #286 (March 1962) First Apperance: (Post-Crisis) AOS #543 (February 1997) I'd say personally, I'd like to see Lex working with: Brainiac (with that skull ship.. ) Metallo Bizarro Mister Mxyzptlk Parasite Solomon Grundy Ultra-Humanite Prankster (Oswald Lomis) Toyman General Zod! Darkseid Mongul There is also a one man band from Croydon called Superman Revenge Squad.
  15. Re: Have you written a story? Well, as I mentioned in another post I have gathered my Champions campaign into a how to draw Superheroes book. I also have a super secret comic I am working on that's based on my Canadian Superhero Team Campaign. I hope to start posting it this September.
  16. Re: Papermodels For Champions Thanks... the buildings were my mods of existing papermodels. The street stuff was bought and downloaded so I best not post it here. I'll see what I can do with some original stuff. I teach a computer art course where my students design their own original paper models so it would be good practice for me. Some good links though you should try are: http://www.icebergbouwplaten.nl/links5.html http://members.home.nl/saarloos/index.htm http://papercraftparadise.blogspot.com/ http://paperkraft.blogspot.com/ http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?hl=en&langpair=ja%7Cen&u=http://www.nissan.co.jp/EVENT/PAPERCRAFT/&tbb=1&usg=ALkJrhiqEdQ8iJZzvYdyFfqWKcMFIVeUeg The Nissan site has some awesome cars that are roughly heroclix scale. http://www.daihatsu-aichi.co.jp/fun/paper_craft.html Same with the daihatsu site.... http://paperinside.com/ I bought the city stuff a while back and have only recently started building. I look for 1.5" scale and have been resizing the old 1" stuff to fit. Those site should get you started.. It's addictive really. D.
  17. Re: How flawed is your Super? I ran an all villain campaign once, but the villains were all pretty level headed and didn't try to kill anyone on purpose. They always managed to succeed at putting the town's premier superhero team in the hospital on a regular basis.
  18. Re: We Loves Us Some Elves, Dwarves, and Orcs I prefer the elves are scary Sidhe monsters sort of campaign with some fay blood and magic is totally mind blowing and it's going to get you killed because all mages eventually go crazy and hunt down other mages for their power and the inquisition is now hunting you because you are a godless witch. My Palladium campaign back in the early 80s was totally human-centric with a dash of Thieves World thrown in for fun. I haven't run a serious Fantasy campaign for years. I really want to, but I have so few original ideas that I just can't get excited about the genre anymore. Maybe this is my next project.
  19. Re: Custom Figures Images Thanks Egyptoid. There's lots of other stuff like that too. Signs, dumpsters, phone booths, construction barriers, etc. I'll take some pictures next game night. Here is another mini: Windburn. She's a Canadian Superhero Team Powered Armour character. Looking at these in this context makes me want to make more.
  20. Re: Custom Figures Images On Patrol! I love rooftop battles...
  21. Re: shadowcats superhero insanity shop: Justice Laundry Superteam I have a friend who has a character named Electro Sol because he gets power from the sun, but it's also kind of a tradition for the player to name characters after cleaning products.
  22. Re: Custom Figures Images Counters work too. I used to buy the V&V supplements JUST for the counters. One summer I made hundreds and we had a good time. This image brings to life one of the longest running jokes in my Champions campaign; the old Sam and Ella Diner schtick. How many adventures started with all the characters sitting in the Sam and Ella, I'll never know.
  23. Re: Custom Figures Images Kimera is the dark and brooding brick who gets his powers from mystical gargoyles on the roof of an orphanage. I kid you not. Gargirl is his sidekick, one of the orphans from the orphanage who figures out Kimera's secret identity and threatens to tell the nuns unless she can be his crime-fighting partner.
  24. Re: Custom Figures Images The Scarlet Avenger is sort of like a Silver Age Paragon, Ultimate Hero type of character. He is retired in my game campaign, but when I started it in 1982 he was sort of the mentor of the young heroes.
  25. Re: Custom Figures Images Thanks. It makes for a seriously fun game. Lots of eye candy to go around. Just don't touch the buildings or cars with wet hands.. not good.
