  1. Re: The Grand List of Overused Science Fiction Clichés Ask Tharkazog about it. Unless I'm mistaken, the site the list was on belonged to him.
  2. Anyone here ever write up stats for Lara Croft? If so, please post them. If not, I'm planning to do the job myself and I'll greatly appreciate any and all suggestions. BTW, it's good to see the boards back up at last.
  3. Re: WWYCD: Omelas Devilfire: (Demon half) A demon remnant is hardly going to care about the child's plight, however seeing an opportunity to destroy a utopia, even a faux utopia like this, would make him chortle with glee. (Human half) Greg would genuinely sympathize with the kid and try to help him/her anyway he can regardless of what the villagers might try to do to him as a result. The irony of a quasi-demonic villain saving the kid from a hellish existance would not be lost on either of them.
  4. A company in your campaign world that manufactures deodorant and other hygene products has started marketing a pheromonally-enhanced body spray for both sexes. Over the course of a week, as people purchase and try out the spray, it appears to not only work much the way their rather risque tv ads suggest, but seems to work a little too well. All around your campaign city, men and women are doing things in the streets that would be better done behind closed doors (and in the case of some of them, definately with the lights out). Things get way out of hand as people are soon too busy *ahem* "getting friendly with each other" to do anything else. Meanwhile, several teams of individuals clad in haz-mat suits are fanning out through the city cleaning out stores and banks with little or no resistance. WWYCD?
  5. Re: WWYCD: The Ponderous Plumbing Problem Devilfire: (demon half) Would get some mild amusement out of seeing poor Rhea get slimed in the shower, but would be annoyed if the problem persists long enough to be an inconvenience. (human half) Greg would collect a sample and, after calming Rhea down, run to the university lab ASAP.
  6. Re: WWYCD: Bride Of The Shadow Lord Shameless thread necromancy
  7. I'm a building a base for my character in a villains campaign and planning to include a DNPC; in this case, someone he's keeping prisoner. While I can imagine many might consider this a highly irregular use of the DNPC disadvantage, here's the backstory on it: During one of his past robberies, the character breifly lost his mask and one of the bank tellers got a look at his face. After getting his mask back on, he grabbed her and ran for it, abbandoning the money and writing that robbery off as a failure. Since he didn't have it in his nature to kill her, (he's a thief, not a murderer) he's been keeping her prisoner ever since. Would you as GM consider this a valid DNPC for the base or make the character himself take the disadvantage? And if you allow it either way, how would you as GM use this DNPC against the character? (aside from the obvious escape attempts) What say you, Herodom?

  9. Re: WWYCD: Bride Of The Shadow Lord Devilfire: Buy them a nice toaster.... then chide Khan for not inviting him to the bachelor party.
  10. The senerio: The obligatory group of insane cultists attempting the equally obligatory virgin sacrifice to call forth the Elder Gods Of Doomâ„¢. When you and your teammates show up to thwart them, you get pinned down fighting the more powerful members of the cult and things start looking grim. Then suddenly, as the cult leader is about to kill the victim, a young woman by the name of Amanda, he gets zapped by what looks like dark purple lightening. A figure in a black hooded cloak emerges from the shadows outside the torch-lite ritual site, you recognize him as Terror'Khan the infamous Lord Of the Shadow Wraiths, a dark being who seeks to make our world an annex of his. Khan approaches the altar and says something to Amanda, she nods, and then he strikes off her chains with the same "dark lightening", picks her up, and teleports away with her. Needless to say, the cultists are so demoralized by seeing their leader get punked and their would-be sacrifice stolen that you and the others make quick work of them. About a week later, you encounter Amanda on the street and ask her what happened. She then tells you she agreed to be the Shadow Lord's bride in exchange for being rescued. Khan has allowed her to stay in our realm long enough to say her goodbyes to her family and friends before he comes to collect her and return to the Dreaded Shadow Realmâ„¢. Around her neck is a Shadow Gem pendant, which in this case functions as a "mystic panic button" (it can summon anything from one of Khan's Shadow Wraiths to Khan himself if she gets into trouble). Khan is not known to have Mind Control powers. If he has any, you haven't seen him use them at any past encounter. WWYCD?
  11. Re: WWYCD: The Binder Devilfire: Greg just happens to be an avid RPG player. After studying up on the Hero System rules he would rewrite his own sheet allowing him to keep his powers and, just to be an absolute b*stard about it, turning his demon half into a Care Bear (his GF, Rhea, still has a HUGE collection of those things, even at age 25).
  12. Re: Answers & Questions Q: What colors were the top coat and the foundation again? A: Well that's just great, I guess I'll be joining Salman Rushdie in hiding. Hold all my calls.
  13. Re: redwhiteblue redwhiteblue "oh crap: was I speeding?!?" This is why on the rare ocasions I build a hero I make him an FBI agent or give him some other offical statis that allows him to whip out a badge.
  14. Re: Answers & Questions Q: Oooow!!! What've you got in there, a brick? A: That would make about as much sense as Celine Dion singing Highway To Hell.
  15. Re: Answers & Questions Q: You want me, you need me, but there ain't no way you're ever gonna love me? A: This is exactly why I'm not a cat person.
  16. Re: Answers & Questions Okay, time to pick up the spare.... Q1: Would you like Jay Leno to testify at your trial? Q2: How bad could things possibly be at the office? A: I personally prefer the red ones.
  17. Re: Super humans populations in cities No, no, no, you guys are way off... It's all about the nightlife, baby. Really, what supervillain wouldn't want to party the night away after a long but profitable day of robbing banks, jewelry stores, and The Sharper Image stores?
  18. Re: Fictional Political Parties I'm a card carrying member of the All Night Party. Our plateform is built on loud music, heavy drinking, and causing the stuffed shirts from all the other parties many a sleepless night.
  19. Re: Answers & Questions Q: Dude, is Mightybec making a nude self-portrait? A: That was all I got out of her, even after I paid for dinner, a movie, and a classy hotel room.
  20. Re: WWYCD?: More shooting stars... Devilfire: (Demon Half) Stir up some trouble while the dogooders are busy with.... whatever the hell those things are. (Human Half) Greg would be wondering, "Is this an invasion, or a @#$%ing Skittles commercial?"
  21. Creating a package deal for demons in my campaign world who have assumed corporeal form. Among other things, such beings can get away with smoking heavily, drinking heavily, and consuming junk food by the truckload without suffering a single ill effect (stuff that's bad for humans is good for demons). I know to use Life Support: Immunity for the first two parts of this, but how do I model the third? And for those who might bring it up, I'll thinking about reserving Full Life Support almost excussively for noncorporeal form (there have to be some drawbacks to manifesting as flesh and blood, afterall). Thoughts?
