  1. Re: Does Range play a big part in your games? We use maps extensively and for the most part it's a vastly superior experience. It can be a bit of a pain to come up with something quickly when combat comes up in an unexpected scenario. "Ok guys, give me a minute to draw the map. I wasn't expecting you to start a brawl at McDonalds..." I discourage people from using the hex grid to give all their characters absolute range sense for free... especially with AoE's... that one tends to annoy me... (but for the sake of expedient game play, it's often beneficial...)
  2. Re: Red Dragon, the martial artist who wasn't. 6E A small nitpick... This isn't offensive to martial artists. It's offensive to those who have a specific code of honor. BIG difference there.
  3. Re: Char: Power Girl Adam Hughes is a very talented artist and I have a lot of his pictures saved, including just about every picture he ever did of WW or PG. Unfortunately.... (and I will spoiler this because a friend that I mentioned it to can no longer look at Hughes art the same way)
  4. Re: CHAR: Captain Marvel (Shazam) Well, we know for sure he wasn't the only super back then just based on the caliber of foes the JLA faced during the Obsidian Age story arc. But I'm pretty sure it's pure fan speculation that he ever fought anyone of that level prior to when the Wizard killed/imprisoned him.
  5. Re: Mary Marvel (5e, 1200pts) Which is all well and good til you start drifting into the plot device powers and such. Or getting multiple writers with even slightly different interpretations of the same line of text. Or that one dude who's always "oh, wouldn't it be cool if..." But even series with strong story bibles often have last minute changes because someone thinks of something new and better... or because someone makes a mistake that isn't caught in the editing process... It's all part of the shared creative process, which is WAY easier to deal with in a small face to face game setting then it is in a modern multinational business.
  6. Re: Enhanced Attacks Hmm... if I recall Enhancement is a special type of Coordinated attack. Coordinated attacks happen simultaneous on the same Phase. So, would the effect you describe be possible if the attacks happen at the exact same time or would they somewhat cancel each other out?
  7. Re: Make Your Own Motivational Poster I should be writing, but instead I made this
  8. Re: "Neat" Pictures Very cool pic but they made Diana look like Kristin Stewart playing Joan Jett, instead of actually looking like either Diana or Joan. Maybe it's just the nose...
  9. Re: CHAR: Captain Marvel (Shazam)
  10. Re: CHAR: Captain Marvel (Shazam) I believe Achilles is now the official source of his seeming invulnerability, so you could move some of his defensive powers to here. Or maybe add +PRE, +EGO and Mental Defense to the Courage aspect. The Marvels are supposed to be somewhat resistant to mental powers as part of their general magical defenses.
  11. Re: CHAR: Captain Marvel (Shazam) According to Superman, Black Adam is stronger. Or at least Adam hits harder...
  12. Re: Gorilla Grond - from typo's are mighty heroes made (6E) Sketched up a rough head shot today... or is that head shots? Heads shot? Hmm.... anyhow, I'll try to scan it and maybe have the Wife try to colorize it.
  13. Re: Gorilla Grond - from typo's are mighty heroes made (6E) Made me think of: http://images.wikia.com/superfriends/images/d/d6/Sam_6.png
  14. Re: Gorilla Grond - from typo's are mighty heroes made (6E) That's very cool He actually went through several revisions before I felt he was worth posting.... Initial thought was basically just a huge, super strong green gorilla with 4 arms and Mind Control/Telepathy. Then I came up with the idea of two heads. Initially, they didn't really have different personalities, but I thought that would be cool once I decided one had Telepathy and the other had Telekinesis, at which point I named them Rex (a reference to King Kong) and Joe (as in Mighty Joe Young). Can't remember where exactly the name change occurred, but this is pretty much where your picture would fit in almost perfectly. After that, I ditched the physical extra set of arms, replacing them with TK constructs and deciding to go with a sort of green lantern type powers for the TK. I liked the visual of a floating, disembodied set of gorilla arms. This also helped explain their brick levels of strength and toughness a bit better. At this point, they were still pretty much just psychic bricks though, with Rex being the brains and Brutus being a more the brawn. This made me think of the idea of Mr Fantastic and The Thing sharing a body, which sparked the concept that they had actually started life as two separate gorillas and were Frankenstein-ed together. I had them written up with very different skill sets and they were supposed to have trouble working together (this is alluded to in their background of course). They had special limitations on a lot of their powers to show what happened when they disagreed or if only one head was disabled. I wanted Rex to at some point uder "Et Tu, Brute?" before passing out... Anyhow, that build was pretty complicated.... I also gave them a small gadget pool at some point, which I later ditched since it felt like just a bit too much. Oh, and Brutus also had a single cyber eye that gave him a few extra vision powers, but I dropped that by mistake and never remembered to add it back in (the bit about the sword scar is still in the background though) The wired together brains and the Technopathy/Technokinesis SFX were pretty much the final revision, at which point I decided they would be much more playable if they actually worked well together. I was going to do a bit more with Techno-Psychic concept (Cyberkinesis powers to create complex constructs or inventions and virtual reality type super hacking abilities), but figured that would be something for the version with the VPP to play around with...
  15. Re: She kicks hard Spoiler, since video contains not very nice language...
  16. Re: She kicks hard I don't want to say it's not worth a limitation, because obviously "Master of Unarmed Combat" +xd6 HA is way less limited than "Kicks Like A Mule, But Punches Like a Wuss" +xd6 HA. But if you look at most of the write ups, it's often not given a limitation because of the SFX oriented way martial arts work. For example, if you write up Daredevil's Bully Clubs (lets call it a +3d6 HA, OAF), he doesn't necessarily get to use that billy club with a Legsweep that you have defined as an iron broom style spinning sweep kick, Passing Strike defined as a flying side kick or a Quick Strike defined as a Head Butt. Even if he has Use Art with Clubs. It's possibly you could use the billy club with these maneuvers if they were defined differently though. It's similar to how Boxers don't typically get to use Offense Strike to throw both kicks and punches, even though other martial arts have the exact same maneuver defined that way. Boxers punch and that just the way the arts maneuvers are defined. However Tigerlilly in Champions Worldwide/Champions Villains Vol 2 has bonus DC's with her Knee Strike that get, I believe, a -1 limitation. So there is a precedent for it (though in her case each power can only only be used with one or two maneuvers). So, I think it kinda depends on: -how many kicks she has -how her martial arts are defined -how fluid your GM's interpretation of the martial arts rules Myself, I'd almost certainly allow a limitation but the value is really going to depend on how many non kicks maneuvers she has. Another option is you may just want to buy her kicking ability as a +xd6 HA and then skill levels with that HA, instead of having the dice add to her various maneuvers. But that may not be ideal if you want to use things like Legsweep.
  17. Re: "Neat" Pictures I thought it was the fist of an angry cloud god.... or maybe the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man...
  18. Re: How would you build Mr. Fantastic's or Plastic Man's movement? Ooops, seems I was misremembering the rules on this one. I thought they had removed the ability to use Stretching to move vertically but upon looking at the book it's still in there. So you can use Swinging or Stretching to accomplish that particular stunt. My bad and yes, I agree, that does seem as bit odd...
  19. Re: How would you build Mr. Fantastic's or Plastic Man's movement?
  20. Re: "Neat" Pictures Also, he has a totally boss cape.
  21. Re: How would you build Mr. Fantastic's or Plastic Man's movement? Over thinking it IMO. Do you make a character with Growth use leaping to step over another characters head? The stretching SFX for Running lets you step over bigger things as well. Running, Usable as Leaping may still be appropriate for the concept though.
  22. Re: Conan: The Current Movie in Progress..... I dislike the choreography in the trailer. Fancy stances, barrel rolls, Matrix like back arches and leaping Troy like sword thrusts... it's just not at all right for my mental image of Conan... (which is not to say it will be awful... it's just... jarring...)
  23. Re: Looking for rules for Rollerblades Also, something that might be worth considering from The Ultimate Speedster:
