Along this line a theoretical mana system might be a good idea. Ah, yes... the poweder of the Green Lotus. Turns you into a spellcasting uber-mage for a while, but the side effects can be most... unpleasant.

I think the idea is that the unfamiliar weapon penalty is -3 OCV. It would cost 9 points to purchase +3 levels versus OCV penalties (not just unfamiliar weapon). So the weaponmaster spends the 9 points to offest the pens instead of purchasing all the weapon familiarities. It works for me, but I'm easy.

Or use the Rapid Fire rule for this, with multiple arrows at once being the SFX

Well, every culture that has encountered war has developed some sort of systemized combat art. Real world humanity has a plethora of them. There's no reason non-human cultures in fantasy worlds wouldn't have one. Traditional elven concepts would include Bow Mastery and "Sword Singing", but they could have unarmed styles as well. And there's nothing to say they would have to rely on internal or soft styles (though that fits the common conception of elves). In my game there a civilized elves (tolkienesque), but there are also nomadic tribes of elves with a radically different culture (more akin to bedouins or gypsys). Those elves have developed a brutal form of kick boxing similar to muay thai... Just make sure the humans get martial arts too.

In the magic system chapter: Could you include one magic system that is based on more subtle effects and ritual magic, with some example spells. A "real" world example: Voodoo.
