Idea, which requires some bookkeeping: treat it as Ablative, only keep track of the cumulative Body total stopped by the armor. For every multiple of its DEF, treat that as one instance of BODY getting through. (In other words, 7 DEF Armor is hit by 7 BODY. If it takes 1 more BODY, then it takes one Ablative hit. If it's hit by a total of 14 BODY, 1 more BODY pushes it to two. Etc.)

At 35 cents an ounce, that's ... Sir, that's over the credit limit on this card. Do you have anything else?

I am two points away from assending but I'll probably miss it when I do. I am knee deep in proof-reading the Last Dominion book before it is published and so the time I'd normally flit away on the forums has been greatly reduced.

Bleah. A publisher sent me a free copy of a physics textbook, presumably for me to look over and consider adopting for my classes. Little do they know I have no part in the text adoption process here.
 
Consequently, this leaves me free to observe that the only thing more boring than a physics textbook you have to read is a physics textbook you don't have to read.

Of the top 78 posters (those with a Post Count of 1,000 or more) only 6 joined in 2004 or later.
Of the top 21 posters (those with a Post Count of 3,000 or more) only 2 joined in 2004 or later.
Everyone else in those groups joined in 2003 - usually early 2003.
 
I seem to be the most prolific non-NGD poster who joined in 2004 or later.
 
I think I just found out where all my free time went.

So last ngiht in mid sentence as I typed out a story my keyboard died. The mouse and flash drive connected to it work just fine. The keyboard itself just doesn't work anymore. Stupid apple keyboard, nice elegent design, smooth key action, stylish clear base, apple-cool provided free of charge.

I want the old Apple II Extended Keyboard. The origina one nicknamed "The Battleship." 9 Inches wide, 18 inches long, built like it was made out of concrete. A keyboard you could beat someone to death with, wipe off the gore, plug it back in and keep typing. Heavy key clicking action. You KNEW you were typing. It wasn't just a keyboard, it was a piece of engineering genius.
 
Design a keyboard like you mean it. You Apple B*st*rd!

Color-coded System Would Warn Nation of Future Attacks by Veep
Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff announced today that his department would immediately implement a Cheney Alertsystem to warn Americans if an attack by Vice President Dick Cheney is imminent.
 
The Department of Homeland Security has been under pressure to respond to the widespread panic and anxiety that have gripped the nation since Mr. Cheney shot and wounded a fellow quail hunter while on a hunting trip in Texas over the weekend.
 
Across the country, people have holed up in their homes and hoarded food and water, fearing another senseless attack by the gun-toting vice president.
 
"What we have learned, the hard way, is that Dick Cheney can attack without warning," Mr. Chertoff said. "It is our hope that with this Cheney Alert system we will be able to give the American people some warning before he strikes again.
 
The alert system, with five color-coded levels indicating the likelihood of another brutal pellet attack by the Vice President, was derided by some in Congress such as Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Del), who likened it to "closing the barn door after the horses have escaped".
 
"The fact is, the White House already had ample warning that Dick Cheney was going to strike, and they sat on their hands and did nothing," Mr. Biden said, referring to a Presidential Daily Brief dated February 4 with the title, "Dick Cheney Determined to Strike in US".

We test to make sure the glues, tapes, elastics, and fabrics will hold together with sufficent strength so they cannot be easily pulled apart. The last thing the company wants to have happen is a baby, who has just learned to grab, to be able to pull the diaper apart. But the mother should have no problem doing so.
 
The glues should hold the peices together and elastics in place, even when heated, weighted, and under full tension.
The core material should be spread out evenly along the diaper to aborb any fluid, and the core should be sealed so the material not get on the babies skin.
The bond theat holds the tape to the ears should be strong enough so that, when stretched, the ear material tears before the bond gives way.
Then visually, the tapes should be on straight and the graphics and printing not be out of alignment with the cutting knives so that the pictures are full and not looking like a tv with vertical hold problems.
 
Most of this is really easy to check/test but is complicated to explain.
 
ANd I cannot go into any hard numbers. That would be considered giving out corp secrets and get me fired.
