The game was set in Mega City 1, the players playing judges, and is often the case in 2000AD they take what we do now and twist it and misremember it and then play it straight. So... with this in mind I had an "Oktoberfest" starting on the 1st of October with an American lite beer as the offering instead of Augustiner or Paulaner and the rest. Now, a deranged group of Real Bavarian Beer fanatics were so incensed with the attack on the Reinheitsgebot (they see that as a kind of bible in that cult) that they engineered a Giant Ape, dressed it in Lederhosen and delivered it to the Wies'n in a beer delivery truck where it promptly ran amok. The climatic battle was one PC in a giant Mech battling the BavariApe while the other battled the Lederhosen clad cultists. Very silly but fun and with a bit of work could be made to work in a champions setting. I toyed with making Viper infect the Oktoberfest beer, (for whatever reason)and have some mad scientist be enraged and release his pet Ape to attack the undercover Viper agents. So the plot would be defeat the beastie, trace it back to scientist battle him and then find out about the viper plot. Race back to the Wies'n and battle viper just before they switch the beer with the infected brew.

If you want to statr it in real time a terrorist attack on the Wies'n (Oktoberfest for you foriegners) would be a blast. Hundreds of thousands of drunks in dirndls and lederhosen are just crying out to be endangered. I had BavariApe (a king kong rip-off in lederhosen stolen from our very own Red "Thorsten" Baron)attack in my game. I gave the beastie Drunken Monkey style kung fu so as it got drunk on the beer delivery trucks which just made it a better fighter. Quite a funny fight as the heroes spent just as much time saving beer trucks from the ape's clutches as people from death.

  6. Re: Abort to block Even though a Block can be many things, indeed you have to move to block properly, but no without something to block with I would not allow a player to 'block' thin air simply to increase his dcv.

  8. Re: Question reguarding To Hit probability Not to nitpick, okay I'm gonna' nitpick so sue me - you actually said and / or. Sorry, I'm already thinking in SIX mode where all characters have 3ocv/dcv as default - Dex doesn't have anything to do with it.
  9. Re: Question reguarding To Hit probability Oh oh, he said realism. If you want the 17 dex guy to be realistic give him 3 or 4 dcv and the 4 or 5 ocv cop can still set/brace and hit him with his 9mm.

Having said that I found trouble concentrating over long periods and became irritable and short tempered. (short tempered me?) I'd plug it as an Int, Ego drain & maybe Dex & Con to boot. (maybe even triggering enraged easier)
  11. Re: Question reguarding To Hit probability Just to be clear - I think the 3d6 bell curve is such a cornerstone of Hero that if you removed it you'd be playing a different game. I doubt too many people here would be happy to lose it either.
  12. Re: Question reguarding To Hit probability Very rarely do we need to change the rules just use the ones we have better. What about instead of changing the dice we use we modify the characters so the OCVs and DCVs are closer together thus increasing the chance of hitting? A difference of 6-8 is absolutely massive in Hero. That is like Spiderman going toe to toe with a beat cop or something equally unbalanced.

Not having a copy of SIX in my grubby paws yet I think I'll be falling back on the old "If a limitation isn't limiting for the character then the limitation isn't worth any points." chestnut. So if you haven't got an offensive mental power you can of course sell your OMCV back to 1 or 0 or -42* for all I care but you just won't be getting any points for it and I caertainly won't be making any scenarios with that in mind. *Might not be book legal.

I thought this forum is where we posted our opinions? I'm not going to keep schtuum just 'cos you, or anyone else may have a different opinion. If any player came at my with that drivel as a back story I'd tell him to eff off btw.

The precedent of min maxing, rules raping and general nastiness that is designing a character to play the numbers and exploit holes in the system rather than design a character 'cos that's how you envision that character being. How do you justify buying the OMCV down to one? Plain English that passes the GM Cheese barrier?
