  1. Re: Character monologues I wish I could believe in gods. I wish that there was a reason I was here. A reason that I've had to watch so many horrors and deaths and applaud those who did them. A reason I am bound to a people whose name is a synonym for corruption throughout the galaxy. If only my people were as they used to be. If only I had been born in another time, to a different fate. If only I wasn't someone who had to stay, someone with no responsibilities beyond herself. But I know, the world is what is. And in this world, I am the Princess of a people that I can never show shame of, or a moment's weakness to. There is no Gods, no Fate, no good, no evil, just the choices of people and a mechanical universe. That might makes right, and that there's nothing I can do to stop most of it, in a galaxy most think I'm one of the most powerful in. And all I have is a duty that binds them too me stronger then the tightest chains. But, by the uncaring stars, I wish it was different.
  2. Re: Alternate Earth #23(?): Living In The Wild, Wild West Go absoulutly nuts? The weird tech would make her head hurt, though she'd be fasinated by the War between the states and the West. Though, given whom she was probably found by when she crash landed, she might actually help the last of the tribes fight back to reclaim their lands... Which could lead to a very alternate history indeed. I would imagine "The Morning Star" would be a feared name throughout the west, as she helps the tribe that found her and their allies kick the Americans out, while also trying to uplift them, and free the slaves.
  3. Re: I' m in a philosophical mood tonight. Hmm, well, my character is more of a ruler/defender then a superhero. In a world with no crime, she'd still have a purpose. In general, though, I could imagine that most heros aren't set up to imagine a world without crime. It sort of reminds me of a batman fanfic where there was no crime for a week. It drove Batman nuts.
  4. Re: Alternate Earth #22—World of your Dreams Oh, goodness... Cyrande would dream of a Malva that never fell, and became the center of learning and rulership for the galaxy, reaching out for new worlds and uplifting them benignly into the Empire and the stars. At the edges of the Empire, the Golden Hunters and the AI ships patrol, guarding the galaxy from all outside invasion. On Malva, the crown Princess enjoys her studies at the university, with her mentor on controling her powers working with her daily. And she's fasinated by the new Earth Superhumans, being pulled into the Empire to help, especially her roommates Starguard and Micro, while dreaming of the teacher of mystical threats, the Sun God Horus Re, whom comes to the palace to talk several times a week. ... The team had better pray that no one without high energy defense is nearby, because she's going to fight coming out of this dream with everything she has.
  5. Re: WWYCD #117: My friend VIPER. Actually, considering it, it wouldn't be that surprising if Cyrande might be in a prophecy. But getting influence would help Viper immensely, especially since her reaction to Earth authorities questioning her repeatedly would be... poor.
  6. Re: WWYCD #117: My friend VIPER. Crown Princess Cyrande would take it as simply another sign of her dues and wonder why the rest of the team is that worried. Heh, given her status, it might even be a courtship move....
  7. Re: WWYCD #114: Ah, Love or Aw, Crud? Heh, actually looking forward to it. Though Cyrande's alternate morality will cause a few problems...
  8. Re: WWYCD #115: Xerox Paradox...Baby Blues! ... Ouch. Luckily, her clones can't pass for her at home(ie, she has had several things done that can't be cloned that will confirm her idenity) Plus, given her upbringing... Being raised by Dr. Destroyer might be an improvment. Cyrande would ask Starguard to go with her to collect the children, asking the rest of the team politely to take care of the factory, then semi retire and raise them as unofficial daughters and younger sisters, in a place preferably far from civilization. Of course, given even minor versions of her power is still impressive, that might cause some difficulties...
  9. Re: WWYCD #114: Ah, Love or Aw, Crud? Hey, it's not like Cyrande is going to be without her share of suitors as well. (Firewing the first and most obvious, with the rest of the list containing anyone that thinks marrying the future Emperess of Malva a good idea, or just to have a gorgeous (Com 24), powerful woman on their arms.) Heh, and can't forget Warp, Tesseract and Caterian. Or Starguard and Foxbat... *looks again* I think Jeff just likes romantic subplots.
  10. Re: WWYCD #114: Ah, Love or Aw, Crud? Assuming there's no proof of mental manipulation, Cyrande would wish anyone but Horus well and offer to manage the wedding for them(Though I imagine most of the New Sentinels wouldn't take her up on the offer. The phrase "What's a wedding dress?" spring to mind.). Horus, well... she'd take the long view and remember she's immortal and the normal isn't. She'd be very... polite and helpful.
  11. Re: WWYCD #111: Hero Worship Hmm, I could imagine the whole team being worshipped as a pathenon, actually. Warp makes a very good Hermes, Micro would be Thoth, Horus, well.... Starguard as a Goddess of healing and light, and Cyrande certainly could be something like a non jealous Hera or Isis. In fact, I can imagine that might come up in game, as Horus's cult reacts to the rest of us.
  12. Re: WWYCD #111: Hero Worship Cyrande considers it to be another sign of how unsophisticated Earth humans are, and uses her cult to lobby for the changes she wants, plus take care of them, because they did put themselves into her hands. The rest of the team, on the other hand, will have heart attacks. And with Cyrande using them, even benignly... *winces* Horus will be disappointed and speak out, Warp will go nuts on her again, and Starguard will do the dreaded puppy stare.
  13. Re: Gods and Champions Oh, don't even get me started on how Native religion is handled in comics. While Marvel is the worst offender, I can't really think of any well done ones in comics. *shrugs* But yeah, can see why it becomes a sensitive subject, and in some ways, it's easier just to say "Not going to deal with it." Though, another thought. I haven't read more then a few Golden Age stories about him, but wouldn't the Spectre explore quite a bit of religion?
  14. Re: Gods and Champions Hmm, though I can think of about three comics where faith was a really good thing, though none of them are superheros. Tomb of Dracula, Crimson, and Out There all have very good positive takes on religion. And are good stories to boot. Frankly, I imagine it's the fringe books that will most throughly explore religion, in either a positive or negative manner. Though frankly, it's also a lot of fear of missteping on the issue that happens too. I remember hearing (second/thirdhand) about there being some problems with Thor meeting some of the Hindu Gods.
  15. Re: Painting the PCs as villains in as few sessions as possible Please, like the thought of Cyrande coming to Earth and uplifting it slightly to be her personal playground and vacation spot is scary....
  16. Re: WWYCD #95: Leaden Curtain For some reason, the words "public menace" come to mind for Cyrande. She's a seething cauldron of rage and blind fury, and the only thing that stops her is her dedication to her mentor's teaching. Plus, she'd forget a lot of the subtler uses of her power... *twitchs* The rest of her team would pound her into submission in an epic battle, keep her under until the healer got back.
  17. Re: What would your character do #83 ? Ah. As the newbie player and member, let me say why I work the way I do on this. Cyrande was made to fit the team. As the new person coming in, that was very important. However, she's also not meant to be a solo hero and never has been. While in this particular scenario, she could react alone and aside from her teammates, most others she couldn't become involved with unless her teammates were there. Also, I'm wondering. Several other people tend to call on their teammates too, especially if something is out of their experience/range. That seems to me to be a realistic reaction. Why isn't it here?
  18. Re: What would your character do #83 ? Um... well, given Cyrande's solution was something completely different, I might add something else. One of the first posts on the thread about bringing Horus in noted, given Horus's word and the evidence in hand, that the govenor would have to be crazy or under mind control to turn him down flat. In fact, we're getting Horus to verify this, not be the only source. The first post has that we already have evidence the man is innocent. Two, I've posted why the characters would deal with it this way. If it offends you that in this particular scenario that we would choose to pull in the most trustworthy and able to figure it out member of our team, I literally have no idea what to say. It would be as foolish as denying the rest of the team getting Warmaster if we suspect mental tampering, or Cyrande if it involves dealing with aliens or Micro if dealing with science or technology.
  19. Re: What would your character do #83 ? *sighs* Cyrande has been on Earth less then 24 hours in game time, which is while she has 18 years of experience in one of the most convulted courts ever, she has no understanding of Earth culture, though she can move easily in any diplomatic circles. Horus impresses her, and has been personally vouched for by one of the few aliens she trusts. Starguard has only been a superhero less then a week, and I believe her memory only goes back a month. She's very naive and nervous about messing up. Horus is a father figure, who's been encouraging her to stand on her own two feet, but whom she looks up to majorly. Microman II has been active for only a week also. While he has the vast majority of Sentinel history in his databanks, he's still learning about human society. Horus was/is the leader of the Sentinels, so Micro has a great deal of knowledge of Horus's ablilities and trusts him to make the right choice. Warmaster(whose player rarely posts on Heroboards) is an alien general of V'han, who escaped to Earth at the Empresses betrayel of him. Horus, he's mind read and knows is trustworthy, plus he'd be reading the man's mind as well. Now, if you were dealing with a thread that dealed with any of our other specialities... they would be saying we'd call in that person.
  20. Re: What would your character do #83 ?
  21. Re: What would your character do #83 ? *blinks* But the guy is still innocent, correct. The proper superhero thing would be to find out why the guy got convicted also, and then take care of the entity. And one of the reasons that a lot come out like that is that Horus is the most experienced of the group, and the leader, and one of the most respected people on Earth, all things he's payed for, I might add. Besides, we're a team... well, supposedly. It doesn't make sense for the less experienced characters to not go to the team leader.
  22. Re: What would your character do #83 ?
  23. Re: WWYCD #86 (I think) Cyrande would need to get some explantion from the other heros on what exactly all those entities were, but once she does, she'll check if the threat is real. If it is, she would quickly and painfully kill collaberators. She would see if Starguard could free the rest, if not, she'd quickly and painlessly kill the innocents to protect the world. (I should point out at this point she has a "kill on sight" attitude considering what most people would consider demons. It's sort of a cultural thing.)
  24. Re: What would your character do #83 ? Um, he said not a postage sized stamp nation. Crown Princess Cyrande is from Malva, one of the most powerful star empires in Champions. Not to mention that on Earth, she could potentially call on Firewing for help, even ignoring the fact she is personally at Ult. Magneto's power level. Of course, she has enemies who can/will ignore all that, but the governments of the world aren't amoung them. Besides, if need be, she could always pack up and move to say, Canada, with the prisoner. Let's see them try to extradite him then, especially given Horus's word.
  25. Re: What Would Your Character Do? #66 First, feel insulted that they would say the woman is prettier then she is. Actually (looks at team again), Cyrande is the one most vunerable to such, and has no problems hitting on women, though she wouldn't take it further then such.
