  1. Re: WWWYCD: Caught in the Web (responding to the edit) Sherry looks at the screen for a long time, slightly blushing as the pictures show up, and reading through the fan fic, Diomedes and Valor watching over her shoulder. "Wow." She says after a few hours, stretching back. "Is there any way to contact him?" Sherry smiles at the answer "Cool. I'd like to meet him." Before Diomedes comments "Dio... I used to be like this. Well, not like this, but still... it's sweet. And hey, I could do worse then go on a date with someone who wants to treat me right."
  2. Re: WWWYCD: Caught in the Web Considering there was usenet, and Aegis's receptionist is a big fan, likely. Of course, this just means she'll find it first...
  3. Re: WWWYCD: Caught in the Web [Note, both of them are public ID characters] Crown Princess Cyrande of Malva: Would be shocked, especially at the "fan fiction", given no one from Earth is supposed to know most of that stuff. Would definitly try and track the person down. Likely insist on Micro's help, and confronting the person. Nox: Depending on the pictures (especially since the "Nox" half wears full plate and Sherry wears very sensible clothes) she'd likely be shocked, but not do anything, other then stammer a bit. She might chalk it up to someone with an overactive imagination. Of course, this is assuming that it isn't disturbingly slanted. If it is, the team would probably assume it's a DEMON plot, and treat it as such.
  4. Re: Crisis of Infinite Boredom Cyrande: Is used to being bored. Would likely work on deciphering Earth customs, her powers, history study, or planning on her next conquest. Nox: Cooks. If the team is bored enough not to have eaten everything in the base, well, she'll likely get dragged into a training session or forced to study.
  5. Re: WWYCD: Sleeping With The Enemy As Meta already did the Sentinels reply... After Nox got over her complete embarressment, she'd definitely call the rest of the team. There's no way a member of her team would do something like this unless mind controled/coerced. (Two with fiances, one's the dedicated Batman type, the other one might sleep with a villian, but he'd never meet anyone by the personals and he'd stop if he found out she was a villian, and if it was Nox... Nox has an (unstatted) complete devotion to the heroic code.)
  6. Re: Ultimate Thief/Scout Hmm, the way one of my characters is built, is almost perfect for scouting/stealing. Teleportation Clarisentience Telekinisis Oh, and the Desolid and Invisibility. Obvisiusly, doesn't need to even get into places to scout them out, but when she does... is perfectly suited to get in and out without incidence. And laughs at most cells or restraints.
  7. Re: Let's Talk CvK This is interesting, mainly because I have a character in somewhat of the same boat. She's got a 20 CvK, hates other people using normally lethal attacks, and just landed in an alternate future where VIPER took over. The interesting thing is that Nox is support even normally. (Slight Martial arts, and a staff are her only attack powers, and she only uses them against other supers) There isn't a concern about her killing (She wouldn't) but the question of being support has come up out of game. I'm thinking that she's won't use her powers to put her or her teammates in a position likely to kill, but she will be very willing to play medvac or rescue missions. (Her other total psych lim is Protective of Innocents and Teammates) Inflitration and info gathering operations are still... iffy. Her powers are perfect for such, but it would likely come down to a case to case basis. On her teammates killing.... Well, she'll try all out to stop them, but the repercusions will have to be played out.
  8. Re: Gay and Bisexual Superheroes Interestingly, one of my heros, Princess Cyrande, is culturally bixsexual, but personally hetrosexual. Not much has come up in play about it, then again, not much has come up in play about her culture, yet.
  9. Re: Your Hero's Hero! Cyrande's own mentor, and the Malvan Golden Hunters tend to be her role models. Nox is actually harder to answer for. I don't think she has a specific one, except maybe her team as a whole, but that's fairly recent.
  10. Re: Sex and the Single Superhuman Cyrande is a Malvan Princess, and is happy to be free on Earth to pursue who she wants, without having to worry about the whole slave issue. So far, she's pursuing Horus(PC), being pursued by a possible villian (Kuraaz, NPC), and is likely to get Firewing's attention too. The list of other possible suiters is... vast. Her attitude toward's sex and relationships is almost typically Malvan, except a concern to not hurt her partner. Nox... well, it hasn't come up in game yet. but I doubt she would go for a super, and certainly not a team member. And she certainly wouldn't date anyone attracted to her hero form. Honestly, I think she would like a relationship that ended in marriage and a white picket fence house.
  11. Re: If your character played an RPG... Cyrande would be the game master, and do mainly Malvan legends and space stories, complete with sound and visual effects. It would be good practice. Nox would likely be dragged to a D&D game by Mal, and make a paladin, and be surprised by all the praise she gets for playing them right.
  12. Re: The "Whoops" Thread
  13. Re: WWYC Want for Christmas? Cyrande: Wouldn't understand Christmas, but would delight in a chance to spend time with the group without sniping. She'd probably do something personal for each member, maybe new costumes... Well, Horus will probably get jewelry. Nox: Wants a quiet day, and just time spent with the team, with her cooking a big dinner, and everyone just having fun.

    Party!

Re: Party! Cyrande: Enjoys debates, spending time with Starguard and Micro, flirting, and working with her powers in creative ways. Nox: Enjoys cooking and taking care of the rest of the team. Going out shopping is nice too.
  15. Re: WWYCD?: The Shakedown. Cyrande would detect the transmission. In the store, she would just freeze everyone (entangle) and ask for an explantion. (Unfamiliar with Earth Culture) When she heard Air Raider's reason, she'd probably try to help. Nox would probably be out of Hero Identity, but Sherry isn't about to stand by and let someone be killed in front of her(Public ID, by the way). She'd probably try and take Air Raider down, then have him explain. If/when he did, well... Nox can track people and such very well. She may call in Diomedes, but she'd certainly work with Air Raider for the time. Of course, afterwards, he can expect to be taken in. Nox really loathes vigilantes.
  16. Re: New Sentinels stats Neither have the rest of us. There's a really early version posted in the Worldbeaters thread, and he did discuss his character's defenses in the invunerable thread. But it's a long standing joke in the group that we never get to see Horus's sheet.
  17. Re: Is there such a thing as TOO evil? ... Ah. there's two questions here, then. There's too evil for the character, and too evil for the player. I've used too evil for the character before (In fact, I have a character right now who's dealing with her CvK, and her need to protect her teammates. For that character, some members of VIPER are just way too evil, and she's struggling with that.) Too evil for the player is always a possiblity as well, though, admittedly, it varies from person to person. However, it's territory you don't want to go into if you don't have too. Walking away from the table is the least of reactions you can expect. For instance, having a character of mine actually be raped would make me walk from a game, period. Threatened with rape, fine, though a bit nervious making. Actually have it happen? No way.
  18. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... As I'm discussing one character's alternate personality, and manage to tell him something he doesn't know(alternate personality being under my control), the remark from the other player. " I feel so ignorant, yet so blessed in my ignorance." Later on, discussing fun. R: " No, it's called entertaining the GM, it ensures you have a higher chance for survival, but it also allows them to have fun" W "I let you have fun, don't I Bc?" Me: "Oh, yes. Jake is just more... stable, then Kenji is. It's like playing with legos versus playdoh." R: So Kenji is edible and Jake is fun to play with glue around?

    Show me the PC

Re: Show me the PC Background/History: 1994: Chicago, nearly two and one-half years after the Battle of Detroit. Sherry Brown, a bank teller, was walking home from work, completely exhausted after a long, difficult day, when her day got even worse. She ended up getting caught in the crossfire during a running gun battle between police and a squad of VIPER operatives. She fell and lay dying in the dirty, early-winter snow as the day's last light faded As she lay dying in the winter alley, the night falling, some small portion of her wished her city's superheroes had not died in the Battle of Detroit, so that this might not have happened to her, and for the sake of so many others. As her consciousness faded, she heard a voice in her head - something that had sensed her need, her desperate seeking for help somewhere, anywhere. The voice asked her if she thought darkness could act as light. Sherry does not recall the answer she gave, but whatever it was, it must have satisfied the voice, because what rose from that alley was not Sherry. The being that did rise wore dark, crystalline armor and was able to reach out into shadow and turn it into a weapon, or a long arm with which to reach out and smite those who had injured her. Striking by surprise, she tore into the VIPER agents while also protecting other bystanders and the injured cops. She was no longer just Sherry, and whatever she was, a bunch of people saw her turn into it. She assumed the public super-identity Nox and hasn't looked back. Since then, Nox has had a very exciting superhero career, and Sherry has led a simularly exciting one as misunderstandings seem to follow her around. She emits an aura of strangeness and menace that many find quite unnerving, and more than one hero has mistaken her for a villain upon first encountering her. Despite that, she's proven herself time and again and has found a team of super-companions to fight alongside, and they and many another Chicagoan has learned that even through her shadows, Nox is one of the true blue heroes of the city. Personality/Motivation: Sherry barely maintains a civilian identity at this point - why go back to the dreary life of a bank teller when she can be fighting crime and protecting those in need? - but when not fighting crime she usually goes out in her normal form, if only to avoid the notice and misunderstandings Nox seems to draw. When in her normal form, she behaves in a very warm and bubbly manner, especially around her other teammates and with other superheros; this is her her way of making up for how creepy Nox is to be around. Nox has thrown herself full force into being a hero, and she dislikes creeping others out and would hate to lose her companions - not to mention her powers. In contrast, Nox is rather sarcastic, with a sharply-honed sense of dark humor, but despite that, she is strongly protective of anyone she feels needs the help - particularly innocent bystanders and injured teammates. She is also completely dedicated to using only non-lethal force, and does not relate well to anyone who does rely on lethal attacks or who habitually causes unnecessary injuries. Quote: "Did you think by hiding from the light, you hid from justice? Face me then, and learn otherwise." Powers/Tactics: Nox possesses a wide range of powers based or dependent on darkness or shadows. She is able to project fields of intense darkness, solidify areas of darkness to produce a fighting staff or to manipulate objects at a distance, and move instantaneously between areas of darkness or shadow. She also has several weirder abilities, such as being able to turn her own body into shadow (rendering herself immaterial), render herself invisible within shadow, project a frightening, supernatural aura and, most strangely, the ability to use remote-viewing and remote listening to view distant areas of darkness and shadow - and the ability to look within dark areas and witness past events that occurred in the dark - or future events likely to occur. In addition to her strange powers, Nox is quite a bit faster and more agile than Sherry - or most metahumans, in fact - and in either form she can see in the dark. Sherry also has some basic training in aikido and staff fighting which she can use in either form, and as Nox can also utilize via her telekinesis or with her shadow staff. To assume her superhero identity, Sherry has to reach into an area of deep shadow or darkness, which allows her to pull a bit of it out and use it to trace lines and runes on her face. This causes her armor to manifest, and her powers along with it. Once manifest, she remains armored and in superhero form unless she is exposed to intense, bright light for a minute or more; this same condition prevents her from assuming superhero form. Conversely, she is unable to return to her mundane identity unless she has access to bright light. Campaign Use: Sherry/Nox has no idea who granted her powers, or why, or what the runes on her armor mean. So far, nobody she's met can supply those answers, though it is clear that her powers are mystical in origin. Appearance: Sherry is a Caucasian woman standing 5'8", 175 lbs, is a bit plump, with brown wavy hair, cut short, with blue eyes. As Nox, she looks almost elvish, standing 6 feet tall and weighs 170 lbs in her armor, with silver skin, straight, black hair that hangs down her back, and black eyes that pulse with dark energy. Her armor looks like full plate carved from smoky quartz crystal and decorated with black runes that reflect no known language or culture and which pulse with black energy.

    Show me the PC

Re: Show me the PC Well, Cyrande is already posted in another thread around her, but I suppose I could give you Nox. She's been a lot of fun so far. 21. Re: Is there such a thing as TOO evil? Hmm. I would say yes, certainly, for a Champions game. I tend to run Vampire, and I've certainly had some characters(PC and NPC) in there that I would leave the table if they ever showed up in a superhero game. Now, what my limits are... Well, that varies. Incest is a pretty big no, as is stuff like the Purple Man and his raping of woman. One character I have, I expect to see a few dark things (Street level, has already run across DEMON and is Hunted by VIPER), which would make me upset to run into with my Sentinels Character, and vice versa.
  22. Re: Psionic-Focused Campaign/Plot Idea/Musing The Pegaus series from Anne Mccaffery had something like that. Basically Psionics were always around, they just had to be trained. And the training took a while to figure out, as did the testing for them.
  23. Re: Most Embarassing Champions Moment I think so, but if the other players don't start thinking...
  24. Re: WWYCD:Nightmares of Past Futures Cyrande would be wondering how the family survived. And would likely question the nature of the girl. If she's a sociopath or psychopath, then Cyrande would likely quietly kill the girl. If that's not the case, she'd likely argue for taking the girl in and having Starguard mentor her. Nox, on the other hand, would require a member of her team to sit on her long enough to listen to these guys (Loathes people who use lethal force and is very protective of innocents) While she would probably agree with Diomedes to mentor and protect the girl, she'd insist the other team goes to jail at the very least.
  25. Re: Most Embarassing Champions Moment *sighs* I said I was sorry already about that. geeze, next time I'll roll in secret. Oh, my most embarressing moment. Well, other then newbie mistakes... Oh, yeah. Nox. Besides the totally embarressing fact I forgot to mention that she was taking her name(and possibly powers) from a greek goddess, and that another player hunts down instances of the gods working in this world... Ok, Demon fight. My character is already completely mindscrewed from earlier(My character, who doesn't know the source of her power, throws her +40 Pre fear attack at a Demon member, who decides to worship her as the Queen of Shadows....), does pretty much nothing during the fight(rl reason: I spaced out and forgot half my abilities). Then, the DEMON leader, who's bound at this point, calls out a phrase in Latin... we have a demon show up, and in Nox's only decent roll the entire session, she hits and does... no damage. Mainly because it turns out to be a mental illision... (I missed it out of game completely) and then blew two other rolls to find the members who fled. By the end of that session, I was completely reminded never to play tired again.
