SPD is literally a force multiplier.
 
Which means that its importance is directly linked to the force it is multiplying. If you give a nothingburger agent a 12 SPD, it is still a nothingburger.
 
If you give an effective combatant a 12 SPD, then you have a potential problem. I am more concerned with the rest of the character sheet than just the SPD stat.

for a truly chaotic event, I had considered really randomizing things.
 
Have every combatant put one card with their name on it for each SPD point into a deck. Shuffle and reveal each action. The deck, once depleted, ends the current turn and post 12 recoveries happen.

I guess they get better gas mileage than their military vehicles, but now you don't even need more than small arms fire to take them out.

BATTLEBOTS (Discovery) has completed its 'regular season' or qualifying rounds and begins its championship tournament next episode. This is the 6th season since the reboot and the new crop of bots is more deadly than ever. The field of 32 is mostly set with two play in matches to determine the 31st and 32nd seeds. Two rookie bots have run the table and made the tournament, one a true rookie crew from Berkeley feature a stealth fighter looking design with omni wheels and an egg beater style spinning weapon. The other is a veteran builder with a completely new weapon concept: a flywheel based flipping mechanism. Hopefully next year will be less affected by Covid so more of the international teams can join.

So these women bought a vitamix and brought the box into the kitchen. Before they could open it, one of their cats claimed it as their territory and since then, they have not been able to get into the box. They posted numerous pictures of the box and its kitty overlords and eventually asked the manufacturer to send some empty boxes to try to deke the cats into claiming the false boxes, but they did not anticipate how much their cats weighed...

despite all the possible tiebreaking scenarios, the AL wildcard race ended in the most predictable and boring way possible, with BoSox and Yankees fending off the Mariners and BlueJays.  After Tuesday's game, one or the other of the usual suspects will fall by the wayside and then we'll wait to see if the defending WS champs from the truncated 2020 season are one and done.
