  1. Re: Villain power creation - I'm stuck IMO Log came close, but just missed. I go with "IIF: Nearby Animal Of Opportunity." You don't have to sacrifice the animal, after all. Call the change in looks Special Effects of the new "neat" powers. Sorta like the XDM version, but with the realization that there's a lot you can cover with "it's just Special Effects". And it's simpler and cheaper.
  2. Re: qoestion about power... The Ultimate Skill, p.59-60, "Reflex Memory" is very similar to your idea. Main difference is it is for physical skills/abilities. It is based on a VPP. I really think that's the best mechanic for what you want. BTW, The Ultimate Skill on p.51-52 and 59-60 discusses a number of ways to use VPP's with Skills. Just remember, you need the GM's permission to put Skills in a VPP, because they're in the "Special Powers" category.
  3. Re: another call for help.... I'm going with casualplayer and JmOz. Though I'd add a -1/2 Lim "Can Only Achieve The Momentary Hesitation Effect." After all, we're not looking for "Run Away!" nor "considers very deeply what the attacker says" type of stuff. Interesting question: can you put IPE on a PRE Attack. After all, you're not trying to "out Macho" the target, just get that "uh, um, er, uh" result; it's not really the attacker "showing off". Perhaps something beside IPE, though that's what seems best to me. YMMV.
  4. Re: Suggestions needed: Animal super villains A mouse: infiltration expert with Tunneling (leave hole behind) --- do you have any idea what those little $%*@%*#s can get into?!? A ferret: the crazy killer of the group. Extra PRE dice, only to make a PRE attack that 'freezes' his victim just before hitting him/her. A songbird: song based "fascination" attack (mental entangle). A buck or a ram: Move Through attack. A frog: underwater travel, and/or sonic blast. More as I think of them.
  5. Re: To Be Determined.... From post #3 in this thread: Say what?
  6. Re: Tell us about you Pulp game!
  7. Re: Answers & Questions Q: What's your opinion of Tremors 5? A: They made it into a series!
  8. Re: WWYCD: Dumb, Da-Dumb, Dumb, Dumb...
  9. Re: Answers & Questions Q: I'm tired of so much "this". What's the probability of getting some "that"? A: Flour-essense lights.
  10. Re: Answers & Questions Q: Given the way people are ruining the Earth, what will they have to say in the twenty-second century? A: One jug of water, maximum.
  11. Re: Answers & Questions Q: Oh wow! I'm floating over the ocean! A: Three radiators.
  12. Re: World's biggest natural disaster? More like "...threatens to make San Francisco and Petaluma neighbors."
  13. As proof there's treasure in the real world in places you would think are "all searched out": Major jewelry find in England Of course, the thing that makes it not just an idea-seed for Pulp, but a bit pulp-y itself is this line: "The cemetery was discovered by freelance archaeologist Steve Sherlock,..." Freelance archaeologist?!? There is such a thing?!?? Coolness to the max! (esp. the name)

    BIG bugs!

For all your "lost world adventure" needs --- at least, if you need sea-dwelling horrors --- we have: 8-foot long sea scorpions! Have fun! :eg:
  15. Re: Military SF Naming Help Terran Coalition Combined Arms --- drop "Services," it's redundant. Or Terran Coalition Integrated Command. Advantage is the initials (TCIC) can be pronounced: "Tee-kick"

    Pietrie's Dish

Re: Pietrie's Dish ::Backs away ssllooowwwllllyyyy::
  17. Seems the magma chamber under Yellowstone Park is filling up. Could be a big nothing, could be a BIG explosion---though no-one can guess when. How big? Well, as in a few hundred to over a thousand times the explosive power of Krakatoa. A little thought, a little research, and a GM could have one heck of a scenario. A bit of background: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/03/0301_060301_yellowstone.html
  18. Here's an article from National Geographic about some research/exploration at the Tunguska site. Looks like pulp-adventure-seed material to me. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/11/071107-russia-crater.html
  19. Article from National Geographic about some folks who tested the possibility that life could survive on asteroids entering Earth's atmosphere. Interesting, to say the least. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/11/071112-space-rock.html?email=Inside16Nov07

    Pietrie's Dish

Re: Pietrie's Dish I like it pretty much --- nice and pulpy --- but why is something being taken from France to north Africa via the Atlantic, not the Mediterranean? It would make more sense if it was going from England to west Africa. Of course, then it would be meant to be delivered to the Foreign Legation.
  21. Re: Flight Time From Edge Of System...The Speed Of Plot ? Similarly, if your ship can only accelerate/decelerate for a certain amount of time (e.g., limited fuel or propellant), the total time is given by T = (4D)/(At) + t/4 where T = total transit time (seconds) t = time spent accelerating/decelerating (seconds) D = total distance (meters) A = acceleration (meters per second squared)
  22. Re: Answers & Questions Q: Are you a cousin of Cousin It? A: We call him Gomez for short.
