  1. Re: The cranky thread I have been known to make loud scathing comments to folks who just throw common courtesy out the window. John's favorite is the time my mom and I went shopping at the mall (I don't remember offhand how old I was, but at least 18) and this woman (with a really bad dye job, no less) got up into my mom's face about something stupid and wouldn't stop making a scene. Now Mom finally walked off, and I strolled over to the woman (who did not realize that the woman she'd been yelling at was my mom). Me: *in my normal volume, which carries quite well* "Excuse me, ma'am, I just had to say that I love the color of your hair." Woman: *immediately begins preening* "Why thank you!" *pause* Me: "So why'd you dye your roots such a hideous color?" As her jaw hit the ground (after the requisite full ten seconds it took to realize she'd been insulted) while EVERYONE within earshot started laughing, I grinned at her and walked off to join my mom. Sometimes courtesy is just wasted on certain people, I guess. Michelle aka Samuraiko
  2. Re: Musings on Random Musings Then I have the new Christmas movie for you. Swing by Jen's site and see it the way it should have been done the first time. http://www.angryalien.com/1204/wonderful_lifebuns.asp Because sometimes I look at my posts and think, "Why in God's name would people wanna read this?" Low self-esteem. Michelle aka Samuraiko
  3. Re: Musings on Random Musings And so it shall remain until that day when Heaven splits asunder and that long-prophecied event occurs. On that day, the Earth shall be stunned into silence, and the world will know surprise and amazement as never before. The cable guy arrives at the Travis house. To hook up BBCAmerica, the SciFi Network, the History Channel, and Cartoon Network (and Anime Network if we can get it, baby!). Michelle aka Samuraiko
  4. Re: Musings on Random Musings I don't have mood swings, I have mood tetherballs... where I just go round and round til I stop, then I swing back out in the other direction before belting someone 'round the back of the head, then I'm off again. Michelle aka Samuraiko
  5. Re: Musings on Random Musings Since when do you have to have kids to be insane? Does this mean that because I can't have children I can't go completely mad? What about me being totally immature, does that count? Michelle aka Samuraiko
  6. Re: Musings on Random Musings For some odd reason, I have DBZ quotes going through my head, complete with the music and sound effects in the background. The one that keeps going through my mind is Goku saying in defeat, "No... it's all over!"... just as the energy from Earth arrives with a loud thundering rush so he can defeat Majin Buu. Michelle aka Samuraiko
  7. Re: Musings on Random Musings "Where are we going, and why are we all in this handbasket?" And my other favorite... "Madness takes its toll. Please have exact change." Michelle aka Samuraiko
  8. Re: Musings on Random Musings Yeah, but I drive people insane. Michelle aka Samuraiko
  9. Re: Musings on Random Musings Aha, this is screaming for a new thread... oops, gotta split! Michelle aka Samuraiko
  10. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I wonder how many people have me on 'Ignore.' Michelle aka Samuraiko
  11. Re: Musings on Random Musings "It's unpleasantly like being drunk." "What's wrong with being drunk?" "Ask a glass of water." *later* "I'll never be cruel to a martini again..." Michelle aka Samuraiko
  12. Re: The cranky thread Well, maybe this will work for your car, and if nothing else, it vents frustration and makes you laugh. When the great white whale (aka my Buick) started acting up on a regular basis (like, oh, DYING COMPLETELY in the middle of a 55-mph bend on a highway with no shoulder), while I'm sobbing my eyes out, what does John do? As I am trying repeatedly and in vain to start the car... John pulls a Leatherman out of the glove compartment, gets out of the car, and holds it up in front of the hood. *car just sits there* John: *to the car* "You see this? Do you have ANY idea what I could do to you with this?" *car just sits there* John: "DON'T make me use this." *car starts up without a hitch* Almost EVERY time that happened, if John threatened my car with his Leatherman, the car would start. Then, when he wasn't in the car and it would die on me, I would say, "Don't make me tell John." And the car would start up after that. Keep in mind, the car eventually called our bluff and died, and stayed dead. So, not being able to afford to fix the car (what idiot puts a fuel pump INSIDE the tank?!), maybe I will let John vent his frustration on the car with the Leatherman just to make us both feel better. Try it! Michelle aka Samuraiko
  13. Re: The cranky thread Sounds like you have the same luck with your car that I do with mine. Hence the reason I haven't driven mine in close to six months. Not worth fixing. Sorry to hear it, man... wishing you better luck. Michelle aka Samuraiko
  14. Re: The cranky thread I could scream... was ready to work tonight (although half thought about calling in just to be lazy, and because my back was bothering me), when half an hour before I was supposed to go to work, I got violently sick in the bathroom. Ugh. So my mantra for the last five hours has been, "Stay down. Stay down. Please, stay down." Dammit, that was four hours of work! (Granted, at $6.75 it's theoretically no big deal, but Becky is gonna kill me when she gets home...) Michelle aka Samuraiko
  15. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I don't wanna clean my house today... but I really should. I don't want to do laundry either... Michelle aka Samuraiko
  16. Re: The cranky thread That's all right, I'm working with you tonight, I'll con whoever walks into the store into giving me their wallets and all their charge cards... But so help me God, I am wearing more comfortable shoes! That limping out to the parking lot is NOT my idea of fun... Michelle aka Samuraiko
  17. Re: Musings on Random Musings Well... we DID manage to get to New York last year for Christmas for a week, which was really nice. Christmas in Manhattan with my honey was probably the nicest gift my family'd given me in some time. But a real vacation, no family, where we wanna go? Ummm... hasn't happened... in fact, if memory serves, I have not been on a "real" vacation in thirteen years. Michelle aka Samuraiko
  18. Re: The cranky thread Force of habit... A lot of my mailing group email lists that I belong to don't show the original sender's name and email, so I put it in there so they would know it was me. That has since led into me doing that even on boards where I have a name and avatar. Also reminding myself of who I actually am on those days where I can't remember a damned thing. You know, now that I think about it, when I sign a post, it's like I've acknowledged in my head, "Okay, that post is finished." If I don't sign it, I'm not done yet. I dunno... call it a personality quirk. And putting it in my sig is cheating... (and with my propensity for long quotes and advertising my thread, I don't think I have ROOM!) Michelle aka Samuraiko
  19. Re: The cranky thread *after taking a second and third look to verify that I'm not seeing things* What in hell have all of you done to your avatars? You look like octopi that are frantically trying to breed with sea anemones! Michelle aka Samuraiko
  20. Re: The cranky thread Oh, man, no one tells me ANYTHING! Sorry to hear it, kiddo. Should I take back every nice thing I said about her? Ha, better yet, tell Rachelle's mom that you took her over to your godparents' house, and if she thinks you're weird/wrong/whatever, she should meet US and see what you exposed her daughter to! Sorry, trying to make you laugh. There's nothing more aggravating than running into an idiot who's just as determined to mess up your life as they are their own, is there? Two words, sweetie. F*** her. Michelle aka Samuraiko
  21. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Interesting things in Samuraiko's day... 1) saw Vol. 1 of the anime "Spiral" today... which totally ROCKS! Great story (and Hiyano's little "HIYANO PUNCH!" is a great Champions schtick) and the music is absolutely wonderful... 2) storyboarded out the animated sequence that would go underneath the credits of my book should it be made into an anime... and the sequence came out quite well, thank you very much! I so rock... 3) took a job that would have taken my mother about six hours and did it in an hour and a half... I am the goddess of Microsoft Word. Michelle aka Samuraiko
  22. Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... Then again, there's not many sci-fi/fantasy books out there that Slim has NOT read. I should know. He can quote almost every book he owns, and usually does. Oh, you know I still love you, Slim... besides, just because you're married to my best friend doesn't mean I can't still give you a hard time. Michelle aka Samuraiko
  23. Re: The cranky thread A player in my 7th Sea campaign woke me up today by calling at 9am (on my day off, the bastard) to ask me about the new character he's creating. On the bright side, he felt so bad for waking me up that he practically hung up on me with the order "go back to sleep." Michelle aka Samuraiko
  24. Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... The Soulforge and Brothers in Arms, both by Margaret Weis, the prequels to the Dragonlance Chronicles. Raistlin was always my favorite of the Heroes of the Lance. 9/10 on both books (she ain't getting 10's until the third book is out)... Michelle aka Samuraiko
