  1. Re: Clean Slate or What Would Your Villain Do? I would stop right there, Beasty. That's TMI, and very off topic...
  2. Re: WWCYD: One for Many? Well, there's no real time limit, per se. If she was pressed, she'd use her VPP: "The Forge" (which is where her power armor comes from,) to do it, but that thing needs a chemical/mechanical blueprint to assemble things in it. As it stands, she wouldn't have much trouble tracking down some greymarket material and plenty of military-grade plastique--she just doesn't like doing it without a damned good reason.
  3. Re: WWCYD: One for Many? Queen of Spades would be most royally pissed that Necro-boy did in an entire city just to get the 'key' back. Besides, waste of resources to raise an entire city right when you've commited yourself to the ritual. But she'd give the 'key' back in exchange for the teammate. However, being the kind who takes absolutly no chances, she'd quickly construct an explosive shell designed to trigger in multiple ways to go boom (even remote teleportation would set it off), and stuff the 'key' inside of it. Then she'd sneak it close to the dead-head, hand off a false 'disarming device' in exchange, and run like a bat outta hell with teammate in tow.
  4. Re: An old character, Amy Amazing Not too shabby, for a Supergirl-type character. I've always felt that the gender-reversal thing was both funny and interesting unto itself as a Secret ID of sorts. Very nice to be able to confuse ID hunters in general.
  5. Re: Campaign Idea - Suggestions Gratefully Welcome Hey, I have the book. I know what I'm talking about. We're getting into a tangent here.
  6. Re: Eberron Hero The Lord of Blades is quite a mystery--there's some rumors that a Reforged (organic 'forged, prestige class) named Hammer might be his origin. But since this is your campaign, feel free to do as you like. I would suggest something like Xen'drik 'forged artifacts having to do with his rise of power. There's a lot of mystery behind them, and I believe there's one in particular in the campaign book that would be an excellent starting point...
  7. Re: Campaign Idea - Suggestions Gratefully Welcome It's starting to sound a lot like some sort of dark version of Jennifer Goverment or a more organized Snow Crash. I like it. Man, I wish I was in this.

  9. Re: Campaign Idea - Suggestions Gratefully Welcome Been thinking about this for a bit... how about som eccentric philantrophist (with appropriately odd past, but further investigation is fruitless,) asks the group to retrieve a considerably priceless artifact that was shipped overseas but hasn't yet arrived to his home for safekeeping. Now toss in some cult-members who desire the artifact for some nebulous purpose, and you've got the hints of wierdness while making it seem like a mundane 'extradition' job.
  10. Re: King Kong Trailer Online ... One of the things that went through my mind when I saw this was: "Mighty Joe Young!"
  11. Re: Dr. Silverback, I Presume? But does he have a little car to scoot around in in parades?
  12. Re: Superhero Images To fix that blade, you'll want to apply some Blur effects and underlap that with a slightly larger, lighter effect done the same way. Play with the filters--I can't get enough out of Kai's Power Tools, to be honest. Sooo many possibilities...
  13. Re: Dr. Silverback, I Presume? If there's one individual I want to spend a leisurely evening sipping cognac in front of a fireplace and reading a dusty tome of forgotten lore, then that's him.
  14. Re: Fantasy Hero / Star Hero .... SpellJammer? Obvious' would work--you'd spend END for fine movement, but you can rest during gross movement periods where finesse isn't a requirement. Of course, you'd need two magic users--they used clerics and mages interchangeably-- to spell each other during a long voyage. I would write this up as a PS: Spelljammer helmsman and let it be the activation roll for 'merging' with the ship. A Perk, like 'Talent: Magical Apitude' would fill in the rest easy, if it was a cheesy 1 pt. thing. (The Cloakmaster Cycle stories is benifical for this sort of work.) If you're doing the Crystal Spheres thing they wrote up, just remember that the aether between the Spheres is two things: They have currents of their own, and it's flammable. Beyond that, is background, like Krynnspace being a 'closed sphere' due to agreements between the deities of Krynn and the rest of the Crystal Spheres. You get the idea.
  15. Re: Paying for Items, yes/no? There's another way of dealing with it... Simply put, mundane stuff isn't terribly difficult to obtain, but the good stuff, doesn't always reveal themselves. Like a wizard needs to build his spell pool through research, and the cleric gets granted more responsibilities over time through his own spells, the fighter/thief can learn more about their magic items over time, like training or attunement. (I would use attunement moreso, I plan on using that as the method of control for magic items in Eight Sages.) This has the added benifet of you being able to say 'Okay, the fire that wisps on your sword seems to be larger and brighter, now that you've killed the Ice Ogre Chieftain' and give him a +1d6 Fire effect at your leisure. Similarily, he can gradually spend XP to let it 'upgrade' as well, given opportunities like above.
  16. Re: faith casters limitations in FH? Faith Mages, eh? I was in a free-form RP with semi-strict background material, called Leirune, and one of the mage-types they have are faith mages. The reason they work is that they devoutly believe in pretty much something. The effects only differs in what the belief is in general. (For example, a faith mage in service to Ristan, the God of Justice, would be able to cast spells that would aid him in tracking, capture, and interrogation in general.) And faith isn't always limited to a belief in a deity--we've had one who believed that a non-functioning magical collar (which supresses unstable emotions) that he wore did work. So really you can leave off the focus limitation and have the faith mages take a hefty Pych Lim. that, if broken, temorarily prevents them from casting any of their spells until they regain their belief. http://www.leirune.com is their site, if anyone wants to look. I've been thinking of tackling ths world as another sourcebook project after Eight Sages.
  17. Re: How to get them off d20 But if your group is being really recalirant... Unearthed Arcana can help you find a middle ground. It's a book designed to actually break the system, believe it or not. In it lies all sorts of optional rules--primarly D&D geared, but there are some that echos HERO if you know what you're looking for.
  18. Re: Post your most abusive munchkin character here Theoretically, that isn't munchkinly, Samson. You're still writing up stuff after the main sheet's long done. Besides, I've thought of something similar for an Elemental-type superhero.
  19. Re: A Modern League of Extroardinary Gentlemen I'm not sure he's been mentioned here, but... there is a serious lack of a decent immortal. I nominate the former Spainard and explorer... Ponce DeLeon. He did find the Fountain of Youth, but with a price...
  20. Re: Your Character: The Action Figure Cute. I like this thread. While I haven't written this character up yet, I can defintly see the Queen of Spades as an action figure. Clad in her green/chrome battlearmor with her Scepter and her appropriately-sized jacked-out Nissan Titan "Jack of Diamonds". (Complete with pop-out weapons.) Of course, I can see a different line doing her Secret ID as part of their 'Auto Babes' line of collector models. (Don't worry about the specifics, and she is a Vibora Bay citizen--just a more true-to-concept superhero than the setting actually calls for.)
  21. Re: Looking for Firearm Resource Steve might want to check with J on Pulp-era guns; as a Christmas gift sent him a gun guide that should cover 'modern' guns--this would be the 1900s, basically. He's a bit of a gun nut--can't blame him, he's an NRA member.
  22. Re: Scottish Martial Arts Training Ack! Bad Scottish wang jokes! *does the flailing arms dance* Really, you shouldn't say it aound anyone who's at least a quarter Scot--J and I are from Clan Bruce, after all.
  23. Re: ...and the Bird you rode in on... Doesn't matter. I just like the idea of a diamtrya replacing one of my changed animal-folk and want to see if I can't attempt to 'trump' yours. All in good clean fun, of course.
  24. Re: ...and the Bird you rode in on... I might steal this for ideas for animals in the Empire of the Eight Sages, but it's defintly in competition for giant crabs. Tell you what... once I write up an crab idea of mine, I'll submit it for fun.
