  1. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Well that was a interesting thread derailment...Anyway these popped up in the game iam Gm'ing. Player: "After spending time removing the dead turtle from behind her radiator..." and The players have just had thier base infiltrated by another supers group by the name of the 'new order of knights templar', two group members were kidnapped. In retaliation they assault the place thier 'teamates' (i use that term carefully as it is a villans game) are kept. Player 1: "Wheres Psylocke, wasnt he with you?" Player 2: ".....He died." and Player: "I dont care what he says. We do NOT mind rape each other"
  2. Re: What is Munchkin? I feel qualified to answer this one. Munchkin is a term that at least in my experience is applied to broken characters that abuse the rules and those that play them (munchkins). The vast majority of my characters fall into this category, then again my Gm is a stealth munchkin too; i think all Gms have to be to a certain degree sometimes. That said 'Munchkin' is not the same as 'bad roleplayer' and the term is often merely something hurled around as abuse (and more often than not wrongly) by people discontent with the game they are in looking for an outlet or those simply lacking a little experience based judgement. Thats probably over 100 words and might re-iterate the opinions of others but what the hell...
  3. Re: from little plot seeds, mighty games do grow: Share you ideas! Demoiselle Nocturne Sweet dreams my love... Your Pc's in an investigation of a series of brutal, ritualistic killings have a run in with the local Demonhame. They fight thier way through to sub basement level just in time to interupt a magical ceremony of unknown means and effects. Needless to say the interuption costs many brothers in the room thier lives and weakens others as dark magics take thier toll, any survivors seem to have lost thier minds and die in thier sleep soon after incarceration. The battle is over shortly, even Demoiselle Noctune being defeated easily......the following night everyone in the city bar the pc who killed Demoiselle Nocturne is haunted by disquieting dreams, sleep is restless at best if not impossible. Twisted and perverted immages of loved ones haunt people, lovers threatened in thier dreams, even killed, by partners. The night terrors continue for days with but this one pc seemingly exempt.... The curse of Demoiselle Nocturne? Or have the pc's inadvertently unleashed something far worse upon thier home city...
  4. Re: from little plot seeds, mighty games do grow: Share you ideas! Suspected Dr. Destroyer tech suddenly floods the global market via legitimate companys offering it at prices that undercut all other competition. Within a year virtual monopolys are established over the automobile, pharmaceutical and telecomunications industrys by a small circle of companys believed to be linked to Destroyer: no laws have been broken and the companys (now a powerfull world class conglomerate) continue to sell at low prices. The global economy is changing- it is too early to say for good or worse. What do your pc's do? No laws have been broken, by what right could they act against this economic force- and what would be the consequences...
  5. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Another bizare one to share... "The god of time leaves messages in you shoes?"
  6. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Ultra Sonique of Eurostar "....LOUD NOISE..." Accompanying a sonic attack and shouted into the ear of a player not paying attention. "It comes...Beware the silver birch!" Said while doing a tree impression so "It wont see me...". Yup sending a living-tree 'guardian of nature' themed hero up against Ultrasonique strained a mind that was more than a little crazed in the first place. The phobia of trees he developed has now shifted to include many other kinds of greenery.
  7. Re: Comic Book Physics I usually go by the rule that if it gets in the way of being fun then scrap it. That said i do insist all comic book rubber science has a well thought out rationale behind it- even if its totally fictious it gives me somehting to play aropund with. I did run 'real world physics' in a champions one-off once. It turned into a spoof campaign with remarkable speed with players taunting villanous bricks with "Bet you cant pick up that laden gas truck" then watching as they sunk into the ground. The teams speedster went superspeed with disastrous results- friction being the least of his problems, even a grain of dust can disembowl you at speed.
  8. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Context: A decidedly dark campaign i ran a while ago. Half the pc's ended up taking casual killer, the worst of which was half-demon that tended to snack on his enemies. Anyway in this particular situation the pc's were being paid off to deal with some Lovecraftian horror construction workers had unearthed in inner city London. GM (Me): You all hear an earsplitting roar that shakes the very ground around you-car alarms and dogs clamour in the distance in a rising cacophany of sound. As you all look around in trepidation (make ego rolls vs fear guys) clouds of roiling smoke reeking of decay sweep through the plaza. A huge shadow looms round the side of an alley and you hear a snuffling sound. Pc (half demon monstrosity) : "Daddy!"
  9. Re: The Champion Protocols (ie how to take down your character) Well so far the gm has thrown: Orbital weapons; nearly did the job but couldnt keep up with the characters speed. A nuke; Danger sense and megascale runnings nice- escaped that one without a scratch. Thanos greek titan and god of death; Half killed my pc- then he ran away. The Phoenix with two of the Infinity gems (as in Thanos quest comic run and infinity war crossover). She eventually burned so much power trying to kill the pc she collapsed into a smoking heap. I believe the gm shelved plans for having the pc run into something when he remembered i had precog danger sense. At this point you may be seeing a bit of a common factor and perhaps i should mention the pc in question is the avatar of the god of time (and thus VERY fast and capable of running from danger easily...and the campaign in question near cosmic level (pcs all ranging 500-800 points) I think the gm tried a more subtle aproach when my pc ended up being insane (with several thousand multiple personalitys) coupled with disadvantages requiring con rolls not to die when i created temporal paradox's (quite regular occurence for me). Sometimes i would go into a combat and spend half the time giggling and running round oponents in circles.....I must say though the gm managed to keep everything he did credible and a hell of a lot of fun. Well up until a short while ago all was going well until we hit the campaign finale (of a 4 year build up). My pc tried to FULLY incarnate as the avatar of time. My fellow team mates waited until the pc was involved in manipulating cosmic energys and hacked my would be god of time to pieces. Turns out the prospect of an insane god of time wasnt something they relished (who would ahve thought it?). Moral of the story: surefire silver bullet to ANY superhero/villan is being two apples short of a picnic- In the end insanity WILL catch up with you (not by that stage that your pc will neccesarily care). Oh and never trust your suposed 'Teammates'
  10. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... "Whats wrong with bondage and hair?" a pc with regards to the apearance of a villan....
  11. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... The group have just trashed a villans money laundering operation and people are just starting to wonder how to hide the evidence (those in power told them to lay low and NOT do anything). "we blame demons, not drokar though, the uncivilised ones" At the time Drokar (a half demon) was gnawing on someones arm.
  12. Re: God Package... Well the Olympians are one thing....anyone feel like writing up the Titans of Greek creational mythology? . Another thing the Olympians could do with Eidetic Memory (if it hasnt already been mentioned).
  13. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... something from a recent champions game villan reptilioid pc called kmar who has another unconcious pc's head in his jaws: "I burst his head like a crushed grape."
  14. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Yesterday i went through the strangest most screwed up dungeons and dragons game ever....ever. It was a one off scenario run with several experienced players and some who had never played it before; free beer soon evened things out so the experience of most players quickly disapeared. To recount it all in its dodgy, dubious morality and freakish glory would take too long so heres an example of something that while being far too long for a quote has the same purpose.... Returning to our rooms to find a murder scene we immediately examine the area for signs of struggle/ clues etc...we find a roll of duct tape and a toy car; in faerun of all places! Read on at your own peril, you have been warned. Barbarian pc: "Are there any signs of injury or abuse?" GM- "She is stapled to the bed with metal spikes...apart from that no." Barbarian pc: "I take advantage of the corpse...." sometime later------- The group has finally broken into Evil Arch-wizardes's tower (as level 1 characters!) after killing several guards working for people suposed to be on our side who are trying to bring the wizardess to justice. We finally arrive at the top (after suffering severe injurys due to 'friendly stab' in dark and confined areas) and find the wizard. wizardess giving an imperious gaze: "What are you doing here and who are you?" lesbian dwarven monk in full plate: " We are W.A.M; The 'Women Against Men' soceity. Are you responsible for the death of *describes woman*, these artifacts *holds up roll of duck tape and plastic toy car* you make were found by her corpse" wizadess: *taking proffered items and placing them in pockets*. "Yes these are mine. The woman stole them so i butchered her." GM--- the woman waves her fingers and incinerates the dwarf. A broom floats across the room and sweeps the ash into a corner. female (yes this one was lesbian too) elven ranger to wizard: *sitting on wizards desk and suggestively touching crystal globe* "Are you busy tonight?" Gnomish sorcerer pc; i grab everything on the desk and hurl it out the window. half orc ranger: i pick up the gnome sniff him and put him in my pocket for later. All in all it was a very disturbed night.
  15. Re: Theme Super Hero Teams Not sure if its been mentioned or done before but i have been toying with the idea of using the seven deadly sins as a villan team.
  16. Re: What is your ideal sized hero group We are up to 9 ott players with total of 15 inluding online only players. Things are good; despite my misgivings.
  17. Re: What are some interesting disadvantages you have used? Oh that reminds me, not a disadvantage i have used but...someone i know used to run another character with multiple personality sydrome. One of the personas was 'bwian', an openly gay persona that used to compliment supervillans on thier looks while fighting them. I believe one of his lims was 'speaks in lisping overly camp voice'. Suffice to say that persona only came up occasionally. Another lim of mine 'immortal perspective of morals' was recently foreshortened by vote to 'Pain in the ass'.
  18. Re: What are some interesting disadvantages you have used? Most interesting disadvantage? Insanity on 13-. Makes for very odd roleplaying when you break off in the middle of a sentance and forget the other person exists, and thats one of the more socially acceptable problems. It all stems from multiple personality sydrome, in this case the minds are real. I count it one of a few disadvantages it has been my pleasure to have.
  19. Re: Character type specific weapons My speedster, possible the fastest thing in the whole campaign has a neat trick against other speedsters. He waits till they attempt a move through/ moveby, sidesteps then creates his forcewall right in front of them. If hes really in a bad mood they get grabbed, then he runs at his max atmosphere velocity of 700km per second and lets go....Not only is it a somewhat ironic death for a speedster, no-one has yet found the corpses.

    Campaign length

Re: Campaign length The campaign iam in now has been running (iam told, have only been with it 3 years) 15 years. That said the story line takes five years to get through so its in its third repeat; things tend to happen differently every time so the campaigns arent really all that alike despite ahving the same general setting. My experience of other champions/herosystem campaigns is non-existant but 15 year sound like a LONG time, come to think of it so does three years playing once a week not including pbem.
  21. Re: Body hopping? How do i do that... Thanks for your suggestions. I will probably go with a shapeshift of some kind. The summon power doesnt achieve what i want, no gaining of characteristics etc.. happens as far as i know with obadai (unless i have understood it wrongly); It is interesting though and i think a great way of simulating a parasitic style character that 'posesses' the bodys of others. Part of the problem is Obadai is a gm npc, i dont think the gm will even be using a power to simulate this. Thanks to everyone for thier thought and help.
  22. Re: Body hopping? How do i do that... Well the target (poor schlub) is 'transformed' yet transform shouldnt really 'kill' someone. I suppose the sword could be using extra dimensional travel usable versus other to send someone to the 'netherworld' or some campaign equivalent, then a simple shapeshift with apropriate lims could sort out the effect. Iam not really prepared to wait till 2006, by then the character i would like to have develop the power will be so powerfull as to be unplayable by me; it will become a gm npc definition of unkillable plot tool. Thanks to everyone.
  23. Re: Body hopping? How do i do that... Thanks, think gm may have a copy.
  24. Okay well today we came up against Obadai Khan. Immortal son of Ghengis Khan mongolian warlord that conquered a significant portion of the world. We had just broken into GIANT space ship pretty much as large as the earth, its owner one Thanos. Our aim was to resue a teammate; my gm tells me we werent meant to go anywhere near that place and we 'should' have all died. Anyway what interested me was this: Obadai sticks his sword into someone, is sucked into the blade then chucked back out into the targets body. The unfortunate target ceases to exist as he 'becomes' Obadai. This all got my creative juices flowing resulting in a number of flawed attempts at recreating the power: it would be an interesting power to develop, one within my pc's concept. It is essentially a transform yet it 'kills' the target and nothing of Obadai is left behind from the transform; which doestn really mean sense. The effects not quite posession, a subject that a number of threads adress, so i thought i would ask the question here. How could i simulate this power; barring just a gm hand wave on a killing attack which just feel 'wrong'?
  25. Re: Eurostar is friggin' fast! Furemacher? in my experience the 'eigth member' always turns out to be an invisible Mentala you thought wasnt with the rest of the team...until she starts sucking out your mind of course.
