  3. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Any punishment that does not serve as an effective deterrent is neither.
  4. Re: Help me make a Casino based Super Villain group Mr Chips: Throws a variety of small colored disks - some with sharp edges (RKA), some that explode (EB Explosion), some that Flash, some that emit Smoke (Darkness AOE), etc. Defensively he has a round shield with a poker chip motif. And a lot of luck. Quote: "Ante up!" *throws disk* *KABOOM!*

  6. Re: The cranky thread I rolled my ankle at basketball on Wednesday. When I went to the physio the next day, he thought I might have broken something. So I had X-rays this morning and I have a tiny, tiny fracture at the base of my fibula. Now I have to wear a moonboot for six weeks.
  7. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER THE BLONDE FROM ALABAMA Two bored casino dealers are waiting at the crap table. A very attractive blonde woman from Alabama arrives and bet twenty-thousand dollars on a single roll of the dice. She said, "I hope y'all don't mind, but I feel much luckier when I play topless." With that, she stripped to the waist; rolled the dice; and yelled, "Come on, baby.... Southern Belle needs new clothes!" As the dice came to a stop, she jumped up-and-down... And squealed... "YES! YES! I WON! I WON!" She hugged each of the dealers... And then picked up her winnings and her clothes, and quickly departed. The dealers stared at each other dumbfounded. Finally, one of them asked, "What did she roll?" The other answered, "I don't know... I thought you were watching."
  8. Re: Musings on Random Musings Yes. 1 - 2 books per month. [it would be more but I'm studying and reading notes and textbooks takes all my free time] How do you know Harry will never write another book? No, never. [i haven't read any of the others, why start now?] The mailman is starting to complain about the weight. Can't you keep your letters short and to the point? I read mostly obscure non-fiction books with a narrow topic focus that will almost certainly be of no interest to you (or any other sane person) whatsoever. Hmmm, having said that... there is a book I picked up after seeing the movie it is vaguely based on: "Jarhead" by Anthony Swofford. Swofford writes about his own experiences, they just happen to involve joining the Marines and going off to the Gulf War, so you don't need to be a military fetishist (like me ) to read it. Pie.
  9. Re: Musings on Random Musings Or the Blue Lake.
  10. Re: Musings on Random Musings It has certainly absorbed many of my free hours, trying to catch up. It's a good story, well written, IMHO.
  11. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Got my Uni results - High Distinctions in both subjects! Woo-hoo!
  12. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER This thread takes a long time to load for me, too. It's the Longest Rendering Thread Ever.

  15. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER This is a test. For the next sixteen words, this post will conduct a test of the Emergency Posting System. This is only a test.
  16. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER *Raises hand Well, technically, it was my descendants, not me personally, and we used French, not Latin. But the English meaning is the same.
  17. Re: The cranky thread I was feeling good about finishing a reasonably challenging Uni assignment, then discovered that somewhere along the line a new version of the assignment had been posted to make it simpler. Which meant I had to start (almost) over again, and it is due tomorrow... (checks watch, notes early hour), er, today at 5.00 pm. As I'll be at work all day, that means I had to finish it before going to bed, which I shall now do. Luckily it was mostly deleting stuff from my SQL code, but it still took time and still had to be tested to make sure it still worked. Oh, well. I guess I can be happy with the thought that that is it for assignments for this semester, only two small tests to go, plus the obligatory exams. Off to bed now, at last. ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz............
  18. Re: Need Help With Codes of Conduct Yes, but whenever Lucius posts, the palindromedary always Follows.
  19. Re: Need Help With Codes of Conduct I thought it was a Follower.
  20. Re: Need Help With Codes of Conduct In addition to previous entries above, I can think of: - Religious Code of Conduct - for example, the eating of kosher or halal food. Vows of celibacy. Muslims won't have contact with dogs. Other religions have their own do's and don'ts, and these may vary depending on devoutness of the adherent. However, these can be tricky to include in a roleplaying setting due to their sometimes controversial nature. - Code of The Hunt: The Predator of movie fame has a Code of Killing - not killing an unarmed foe, for example. Kind of a "Code of Honor" but a twist on the usual Code vs Killing. - Honor Amongst Thieves: The infamous "Code of Silence". No ratting to the cops. Respecting other gang's turf. Again, kind of a C'Code of Honor" but not truly honorable.
