  1. Re: Musings on Random Musings Never seen Sound of Music. Nor Cabaret, either, but for some reason that came to mind first.
  2. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER If you like it cold, this looks like your sort of thing. Or use it on an ice planet in your Star Hero campaign .
  3. Re: Musings on Random Musings It's 33 degrees here today! Great weather! Of course, that's in Celcius
  4. Re: Aircraft that Never Were Er, this type was a real plane that saw operational service, so it's not keeping with the theme (not that it isn't an interesting aircraft, especially the anti-shipping versions). So was the Ohka, technically, although I know of only one attempt to use it operationally, and that went poorly because all the mother ships were shot down before reaching a launch position. Color camera gun footage from the interception is often seen as "stock" footage in documentaries.
  5. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I'm so wound up, I can't sleep. But I am tired.

  15. Re: Quiz/Brainstorm: What's your Special Ability? Mantis's Amazing Mental Ability ... You can seal envelopes without having to lick or wet the glue. ...and let's see how accurate this other thingammijig is... Your Superhero Profile Your Superhero Name is The Caped Beetle (at least it's an insect, so that's pretty close) Your Superpower is Spiritual (Hell, no, it Goddamn isn't!) Your Weakness is Booty (isn't everyone's?) Your Weapon is Your Glue Rusty (my what? [checks his pants]) Your Mode of Transportation is Space Shuttle (well, I'm not from this planet, so that's close enough).
  16. Re: The cranky thread Had a thunderstorm Saturday night, which kept me awake until the wee small hours. Heard a crash outside early in the morning, thought it was just something the kids had left outside falling over. Got up in the morning to find half the plum tree, which forks at the base, had fallen over. Fortunately, it had only fallen a short way onto an internal fence, and the fence had held so it was basically leaning over. Had it continued on its path, it would have hit the neighbour's roof (their house is close to the fence). Spent my Sunday carefully reducing the fallen part to manageable portions with a handsaw. I had to be careful not to let the part overhanging the neighbour's roof fall the rest of the way, so it a case of supporting the limb as best I could with one hand while sawing with the other, all the time standing on a ladder on uneven ground. Hard work due to the sheer size of the tree, it would be at least 20' tall. The neighbour didn't know what had happened and had gone out early, although when they did get back home late in the afternoon they were very helpful, taking care of the remaining overhanging portion for me, which I had been uncertain of how to deal with from my side of the fence.
  17. Re: shadowcats Vehicular Insanity Shop: The British Are Coming Oooh, shiny! Putting on my WWII history-buff tin-hat here, I'm going to put forth some minor quibbles: 1. The Matilda II's main gun wasn't a Bofors, but a "2-pounder". It was produced by the Royal Ordnance Factory. It was only equipped with AP ammo as well, not with HE rounds. Also the armor rating for the Matilda II may be a bit low - it was immune to early-war AT guns except for the 88, but early-war AT guns were a bit anaemic. I'll need to check my sources later for the exact specs, but I was expecting it to be more heavily armored than the Crusader - significantly more. 2. I would make the Crusader's gun a Multipower, with one slot for HE, and one slot for AP. If you want to get detailed, it could fire APCR and APDS as well, although supplies of both of these shell types were limited. Also, only late-model Crusaders had the 57mm (aka 6-pounder) gun, early models had the same 2-pounder as the Matilda II. The Crusader had a notorious reputation where mechanical reliability was concerned. Perhaps a Burnout 15- on it's movement ?
  18. Re: SJG's Traveller Deck Plans - dang wrong scale! Double? Don't you mean halve? Count 1-yard hexes and divide by 2 = HERO's 2m hexes (roughly). Apply HERO rules and stats normally from there. That's what I'd do, anyway.
  19. Re: Your PC's might be underpowered if... That could just mean they are an all-female team, but they could still powerful in combat.
  20. Re: The cranky thread I recommend this course of action.
